For being a barefoot shoe, this style has surprisingly little room in the toebox. I am normally a Size 9 and Xero recommends ordering a half size up from your normal size, but the 9.5 felt to me like I was wearing an 8.5. I then had to wait 3 more weeks before Xero had more sizes in stock and ordered a 10 and a 10.5. The 10 fits like a 9 for me, but as this is a hiking shoe and I wanted some extra room for my foot for multi-day hiking trips. The 10.5 feels just *a hair* too big, but it does give me some extra toe room and enough room for insoles so that I can have some arch support.
I would recommend ordering at least a full size larger than you normally wear and maybe also 1.5 sizes larger to try on both at once and then returning the one that doesn't fit.

I LOVE these shoes!! Just finished five days of backpacking in Big Bend State Park with these boots. After only one three mile hike to break them in, I took these on some of the most rugged trails in Big Bend - sometimes gaining 2,000+ ft of elevation in a day with a pack weighing 65 lbs on day one. (Sidenote: water weighs SO much!!) I've done a fair amount of backpacking, and this is the first time ever that my feet were so comfortable that I forgot I had boots on. No swelling feet, no excessive sweating (in 90+ degree weather), no blisters. These will be my go-to backpacking boots from here on out. Xcursion Fusions pictured chilling at Toll Mountain in Big Bend.

Love these boots. Very comfortable and exactly what I was looking for, except they are by no means fully waterproof. I live in the Pacific Northwest and need a fully waterproof boots. My first hike in the rain, the boots was great until mile 2. Suddenly my feet and socks started to get wet. I did not walk through any puddles or streams, so this should not have happened. I'm very disappointed in that aspect of the boots, so I'll have to use these on dry hikes only. I guess my hunt for a waterproof boots continues.

I ordered these boots for a hiking trip in Colorado. Less than a week after they arrived I hiked 10 miles with a combined elevation change of 2,000 feet. No hot spots, blisters, or problems with the boots. I love them!

I cannot say enough good things about these shoes! I had an older, bulky, ankle high boot to hike in that I never liked. We were about to embark on a 2 week RV trip in CO, WY, ND, and MT. I needed better shoes and fast! After reading reviews I took a total risk on this boot and on Day 1 I fell in love. There was no breaking them in. Super comfy from the get go. I sized up a half size like I always do in shoes I will exercise or hike in. Size 9 was perfect. The low profile allowed me to truly feel the ground and the rocks where I was stepping. I felt more stable than ever - and that says a lot since my 45 yr old self gets a little dizzy at higher elevations. I kept up with my boys and could have kept on walking every single day. Love, love, love these shoes! Can't wait to hike again!

I was so excited to get these shoes and I really wanted to like them. I work in an aquaponics greenhouse so not only am I on my feet for most of the day, my feet get wet very often. In my experience, these shoes have not been waterproof in the slightest. My feet are usually soaked an hour into the day. In the photo, you can see they are falling apart in several places (perhaps this is due to them being wet so much? Im not sure). I would never expect a pair of shoes to show this much wear after only 4 months of having them. I also really didnt find these shoes to be comfortable. My feet feel incredibly stiff after taking them off and I dont feel like they can move very freely at all inside the shoes. I would agree with other reviews that said the toe box is too small, and my feet are average width. To end this review on a high note, I have a pair of sandals from Xero that I absolutely love and wouldnt hesitate to buy again.

So nice and lightweight, but lowkey supportive!
I have flat feet and bad knees. Took these shoes out for a big city hike, that included a million stairs on the second time I wore them and they did great! No foot, ankle, or knee pain. It’s nice to have a structured show that doesn’t restrict or try to correct your foot.

Perfect right out of the box. Day 1- Wore them to the airport, traveled, upon arrival to my destination hiked, kayaked, dinner out, chilled. These boots looked & felt great with every step. Just the right amount of protection, legs felt great, no hot spots on my feet. Im blown away.

I am a big fan of Xero shoes - this is my 4th pair. As waterproof hiking boots, these were a lot more narrow and stiff than the other walking/running shoes I have from Xero. I had to get a full size larger to get the same toe room I have in my other Xeros. I’m good with the fit now, although the ankles are stiffer than I would like. That’s probably by design, and I can tell that I will be able to break them in, no problem. I’m just happy to have a roomy, waterproof, zero drop hiking boot. There aren’t many of those out there.

These are my favorite boots of all time. Flexible, light, nice and wide (I have short wide feet and the first xcursions were too narrow but these are great!) . I wore them to the Oregon coast and dunked them in a pool of bubbling wet sand and they came out clean and dry. Crazy. So comfortable for hiking. Walking on sharp rocks is no problem. And theyre pretty.

The Xcursion Fusion fixed my pet peeve with the original Xcursions. There are no more straps that can break! These are completely waterproof, lightweight and extremely comfortable even after hours of hiking. I suggest sizing 1/2 size up. I guarantee you will not regret buying this shoe!

I am usually a size 5 to 5.5 in shoes, but in Zero shoes I needed to go 6.5, because I plan to wear regular athletic socks which are slightly thick and wanted to have wiggle room and not be tight. 6.5 fits well leaving room ahead of the toes. This is important if you plan to use it for hike, elevation, downhill, etc. or long walks.

Very happy with this purchase. I like that these shoes have good ankle support, and even though they’re zero-drop and minimalist they still have some protection for the soles so I can walk over rocky and uneven terrain with confidence. I struggle with plantar fasciitis and flat shoes really help. The toe box has lots of room and lets my toes flex and grip the ground as I walk. The waterproofing is ideal for Pacific Northwest weather. I love that the color adds some personality while still being subtle and going with many different outfits. I did need to buy a half-size larger than my usual shoe size.

I wore these for the first time on a 5-mile hike, and they felt fantastic, no real need to break in. The next day I went about 3 miles. By the end, my arches and calves were more tired than normal, but I think it was more the posture than the shoe itself (in a good way). Ive been wearing Prios around town for a while now, but this was my first hike with a Xero shoe. I think it takes time to get used to using different muscles.

I get plantar fasciitis but find minimalist footwear works best for me - especially after several years of working from home and being shoeless 90% of the time. I normally wear a women's size 8W, so ordered a women's 8.5. It fit almost perfectly but was still just a bit too snug across the widest part of my foot to keep. Xero's site suggests women who wear a wide size try a men's boot/shoe instead. So, I returned these and ordered the men's 6.5. The width is perfect, but they feel a tad bit bigger in the toe box and length. Not enough of a problem for me to return them, but I'm not in love the way I was when I first slipped on the women's boot. I'll see how they feel after hiking a few miles in them.

I ordered a half size larger as suggested and that helped, however I’d taken a chance since I have a wide foot and these did not come in wide sizes. Too snug so they’re being returned. After visiting the Xero site, took their advise and ordered the comparable mens size. Hoping that does the trick because they felt great out of the box except for my “paddle feet”!

Great waterproof hiker but if you have flat feet it might cause extra strain on your knees and feet. The toe box isn't as wide as their other styles so not enough room for bunions. They need to make it a little wider and raise the heel a bit so everyone could benefit.

I was so excited to get these as I've been waiting a long time for a barefoot style waterproof hiking boot. And it feels like a great boot, nice and light, and it looks good, but unfortunately it didn't fit me. I ordered a half-size bigger than I usually take, as recommended, but it was still too snug. It also felt narrower than my other Xeros. So sadly I had to return these. Still holding out hope for the perfect barefoot boot!

This newly designed Xcursion Fusion has padding in the ankle, which is a big improvement. But the new toe bumper design covers less area and causes a crinkle across the top of the foot that is way less comfortable. The old toe bumper really held up well to the rough trail use. Why reduce that?? Too bad they didnt leave well enough alone. Luckily my old Xcursions have some more life in them. I returned the new Fusions.
