Other than the TNT's, this is by far their best skate shoe. Very durable and comfortable. Wish they had more color ways and they sell out fast are my only knock on this shoe.

These are the best skate shoes that Vans makes for actual skateboarding. Unfortunately, I mixed up sizing and y'all are out of the color / size combo I'm after. The extra leather and rubber on top sides make them far more durable for spills and slides in a bowl setting. Highly recommended.

These shoes have a great board feel and simultaneously provide a substantial cushion. Perfect choice for the skatepark.

Fitment is great. The soles are comfortable. The shoe design is simple and refreshingly unique. Love the gum soles and toe caps! I want this shoe in 10 different colors!

3 years ago I bought the blue ones with the yellow stripe that I don't think you can buy anymore. They were pretty heavy I think because they were made with much thicker suede leather than the current ones are made with. Or at least the raven and gum ones I got the suede is a lot thinner now which some people might think is because they cheapened out but they probably did it to make the shoe lighter. Otherwise it's the exact same shoe but this one just looks a lot nicer as the blue and yellow ones with the white sole just kind of don't go with anything and look weird compared to when I bought them 3 years ago and thought they were so great but barely ever wore them. The laces seem a little bit cheaper now and thinner but maybe I'm mistaken will have to look at my older versions. I love that the Raven color is just that and instead of just being straight black it's almost like an off black or a light black which I've never thought of calling it that but that's what it is. Lots of compliments first day of wearing them to work. I do wish this model shoe came in raven or black with a gum sole and a matching van's stripe to match the gum sole along with gum colored laces. Not sure why that's not an option with pretty much any shoe on the market but it needs to be done and I will buy another pair.

I honestly can't mark it down for being a little narrow. They are too comfy otherwise and all I had to do was mess with the laces a bit. I work in a warehouse and these things are great!

I same and wear out soles and toes like crazy. These are holding up great. Super comfortable on my wide foot without feeling loose. Insole foam is pretty great but I must admit I'd like to change out insoles.

Most skate shoes today seem to always be vulcanized to keep the shoes weight down but because of this they always have the exact same look & profile making choosing between different brands pretty much pointless. The days of the fat skate shoes of two decades ago proved that everyone can have their own look brand by brand but they all look the same today. Only a select few from some of the original core brands have a different look anymore such as the Globe Surplus or 'Es Quattro shoes. I'm just really tired of the same look with every shoe having generally a white sole that's just a piece of tape with a black line around it baked onto the shoe. It's just really cheap & boring much like modern vehicles all having the exact same profile. And because of this everybody & their mother looks like they're wearing the exact same shoes. So what originally pulled me towards this shoe from a brand whose shoes almost always look exactly the same no matter what they're called is because it's an old school cupsole with a different side profile. Something about the toe cap & heel counter being raised up higher than the rest of the sole gives them a better look in my opinion. I don't care about board feel & skating as much as I want a shoe that doesn't look like everybody else's on the planet. And this shoe doesn't have that plain vulcanized look that I'm sick of over the years. There's a couple of others in the Ave, Wayvee & EVDNT that have a different than standard modern profile but their colorways are either extremely boring or outright hideous. Vans needs to get on some better colorways for those shoes as well as the Berle's & offer a gum colored sole for all of them as none of those offer that except the Ave pro but it's a see-through look that's also hideous. I don't want to buy a black shoe with a gum colored sole only to have a blue piece of foam showing through the gum color so those shoes are out of the question. So I got the blue & yellow colorway Berle's that must have been discontinued about 3 years ago when I got them but I love the feel of the shoes. They actually feel like they can take a beating compared to vulcanized shoes which honestly feel like nothing more than slightly beefier house shoes at this point. Like some others have said though they're pretty heavy compared to most other modern skate shoes because of their design so I'm guessing maybe that's why they didn't add an insole also which adds to the weight. But the way the shoes feel without an insole almost requires you to put an insole in them yourself adding more weight that Vans should have done to begin. Now I guess I'm going to choose the black with gum sole because there's just not much else from this brand that has a decent colorway & a look that looks different from what every single other person on the planet is wearing. Too bad the other cupsole shoes from this brand that actually have a better looking profile than their vulcanized shoes don't have enough colorways to satisfy those of us that want something different. The only problem outside of there not being enough colorways anymore as some of the better ones are no longer available is the fact that this is one of the few shoes like this today that has no insole inside it. Your feet are sitting directly on top of the threads that sew the top of the shoe to the sole of the shoe. It just comes off as cheap and lazy. A little more cushioning is pretty much necessary so adding an insole is almost a must. Without it you'll do okay but with it you'll have to remember that shoe will be most likely too tight if you don't go up I half to a whole size because adding your own insole almost always pushes your foot up which can make your heel slip out of the shoe and pushes the top of your foot into the top of the shoe making them extremely uncomfortable if you don't buy a size bigger. But because of this the shoes become almost too heavy which is fine for casual wearing but for those that want to skate in them you're pretty much going to be left wearing a shoe with no cushioning whatsoever or putting an insole in them which will take away the point of the shoe to begin with since you won't be able to feel what you're doing on a board. Either way it's a good looking shoe as long as you can get past the lack of colorways available anymore since Vans just gets rid of colorways for no reason. But keep in mind they do have a pointed tip so whatever size you wear if you don't go up a half size you're probably going to fileel your toes being crammed into the tip at an odd angle. I got a 10 and they fit perfect out of the box but if I add an insole they immediately feel like I went down to an eight or a nine. It's just insane the way they fit that if you want any cushioning whatsoever and you add your own you're going to need to go up a half to a whole size so if you ever take the insoles out the shoes are going to be extremely large on your feet. And your feet will be sitting directly on top of threads because Vans cheapest out here and didn't feel like putting an insole in these things.
