I have had these boots over a month and am extremely happy. Today took them on a hike in 15 inches of snow and 18 degrees. Wore a pair of merino wool hiker socks not super thick. Feet stayed very warm and dry. Everyone has different needs but these have worked perfect for me.

I can't believe how comfortable and warm these are. The ankle support is great and I put extra shoe pads in them for a real cushioned feel. I'm going to wear these in the summer during the rain!!! I have to grab another pair!!!

I love these boots and bought half a size up. However they are too small for my right foot still and are causing me a lot of pain on my ascents in the back of my heel. Other than that I love how they feel, how they fit in my foot perfectly in every other aspect and they are waterproof so far!

Light, warm, dry, comfy. Missing the speedlace function!
Take too long to do up and you have to double knot.

Sadly had to return boots. Right boot had a manufacturer defect that caused the hard plastic of the mid sole to stick into my foot.
Really too bad. Right boot was perfect and the overall look, fit and construction was great. Will try these again when they become available.

Been in Salomon shoes and boots for 30 years so I know they are good products and they keep me coming back. The fit works well for my foot so I stick with them. These being a winter boot offer just a little more room and work well with heavy socks. Lacing system is very secure, tongue is padded for comfort and insulation, height is right for ankle support and they keep me warm shoveling the driveway or snowshoeing on zero degree f days. Don't think I would go so far as to do spring mountaineering with these, but scrambling would be fine. Next time I'd like to see a little softer durometer rubber as they tend to harden a bit in the cold and lose grip. Great boot, competitive price, no regrets. 9,000' Colorado rockies.

I cannot stress how incredibly warm and comfortable these shoes are. It's my second pair of Salomons. My first winter ones. The quality is impeccable. So far I have only been able to test them out in 16 temperatures.

I bought these to replace my last Salomon winter boots. So far, I have only done a couple of hikes and one overnight. The overnight was wet snow conditions, and the boots did not stay dry. The day hikes have been fine, and my feet did not get wet. They have been comfortable. Time will tell how they wear, but Salomon has always stood behind their boots in the past. I have had numerous pairs and have been happy with them all

Only time will tell, I just received these boots in time for this weekend 12/22-23/22 N'easter.
These boots are true to size, I just had to adjust the laces. They are also much lighter than my Cabels 400gm Gore-Tex boots and 8". The angle of the top of the boots doesn't restrict the ankles but I get great support at the ankle. I own several boots for all types of weather conditions and these boots are at the top of my list.

The boots a very comfortable, waterproof and warm. My only issue is with the laces, they won't stay tight. I even double tie them. My other Salomon boots do fine but they are different laces.

Salomon, why did you do this to me?
Twice I found myself crashing to the ground because my boot laces got tangled with the other's locking eyelets. I ended up electrical-taping my boots over the locking eyelets due to fears of tripping a third time with worse consequences. This never ever happened to me in the past with any other boots (Lowa/Hoka One One).
The rest of my hike was smooth and warm after the tape fix. I wish there was a better solution to it. My hiking pants aren't long enough to conceal the taped areas, nor should they have to be.
Got a blister on my heel, hoping to break them with time.

Bought these with the expectation of them being waterproof and they did not stand up to the test I put them through. Here in western Alaska it has been raining all summer long, and I assumed the boots were completely waterproof, I was wrong. They kept my feet nice and warm, but not completely dry. I even bought some gaiters thinking that would help keep the water out and even that didn't do the trick. I am satisfied with the boots and the ability for them to keep my feet warm though, just wish they would have been dry too.

I was excited to purchase these for an early winter Montana hike in the Bob Marshall National Forest. I have the Quest 4 in Gore-Tex, but the forecast in the weeks leading to our trip showed a dramatic change to negative wind temperatures and roughly 2 feet of mountain snow where we were going. I quickly decided that I needed some insulation and chose these. Unfortunately, by the second day, the leather was completely saturated and my feet were beginning to get wet, with 8 days left in the trip. Not a good feeling!!! They are a very comfortable boot and love that they had the gaiter loop to secure my gaiters, but it still didn't keep my feet dry like the Gore-Tex has in the past.

Purchased this winterized version of the remarkable Quest boot and couldn't wait to hit the mountains for snowshoeing and hiking. Though they kept my feet warm and protected, there is some sort of design oversight regarding the heel area; when used for hiking or snowshoeing, no amount of sock layers or lace adjustment seems to prevent skin erosion from the protruding aspect of the heel. At first, I thought that I had just been using the product incorrectly somehow, but user "*BK*" had a similar experience with these boots and describes the issue quite well.
On a positive note, these boots are comfortable when not being used for high activity events. A casual walk in the woods in cold conditions, snowmobiling, shoveling, etc would let the best parts of these boots shine through. Warm, durable, and otherwise well built!

I have worn the boots three times. The first time the boots felt great and comfortable. The second time I noticed a pain on my left foot ache. The boot had formed a crease in the middle of the ache and was very uncomfortable to wear!

I got the blister in the first mile of wearing them. I would've have preferred the x ultra winter but they only come in grey/black with a stupid yellow accent.
I've never had to break in a pair of Salomon boots in 20 years. Not excited about it but it is what it is. Yes, I know they are stiffer for carrying a pack.

My wife bought a previous version in 2020. She loves them and is the first boot that has kept her warm and dry. They had Gore Tex, and had a beautiful Gray and Teal color as a bonus. These ones don't. They have some Salomon proprietary membrane and it's nowhere as good. Just too many complaints about leakage issues with this new membrane
Don't cheap out Salomon, bring back the Gore Tex. Will have to look elsewhere as I need boots for my daughters.

My last pair of Salomon winters were less than a season old when multiple nylon lace loops failed. Your footwear has become noticeably cheaper these past few years and my boots and shoes don't last like they used to. New slippery outsole on Quest boots is super dangerous on wet logs and slippery surfaces. All these things combined means I regrettably have to break up with Salomon and find another brand that more readily fits wider feet.

Wore these one winter and didn't hike once. Toe separation is in full effect on the right and beginning on the left. Hopefully can fix with shoe adhesive. Sad you can't get more than one season out of "top tier" hiking shoes anymore.
My timberlands were as warm but not near as advanced for overall foot support and traction. At least those lasted ~4 seasons before separation of the sole.

I had left another review on these but apparently I do so much too early.
The sole is separating already which is frustrating after only wearing them a few times. I don't know what else to say but this isn't acceptable. I'm not even gonna bother with a warranty claim as they will likely offer me %20 off. I'll just glue them and move on to a different brand. I've had a lot of issue with Salomon boots lately. And after 20 years of buying them it's frustrating because they used to last a lot longer.

The heel lock on these are very ineffective and caused very bad blisters while I was snowshoeing. The inside heel area of this boot is essential flat, with no additional fabric or padding to keep your foot in the boot properly while hiking. Quite surprising from a Salomon product as everything else I own has been amazing!
They are very warm and cozy. Probably a great boot for shoveling the driveway or short trips to and from the car; certainly not for hiking or any other high output activity.

This boot felt good when wore them around the house. Wore them on a short hike and barely made it back to my truck. The bottoms of my feet were killing me and the blisters were unbelievable. This is not the boot I was hoping for. I was excited that Salomon came out with a stable boot because most of them are a neutral foot bed. A stable boot would be great for winter hiking. Not this one.

I will never purchase a unisex boot again. They felt great while I wore them around the house a few hours the first day. So I decided to take a short hike the next day. OMG! I barely made it back to my truck. The bottom of my feet hurt like crazy and I have never had blisters that bad. I love the Quest Element but these I would never recommend to anyone.

I have been wearing Salomon boots for years and thought I'd give this new boot a try. Felt comfortable at first and then I wore them on a 3 mile hike, I couldn't walk by the end of the hike. I waited for my blister to heal and tried again, the same problem again. I will not purchase unisex boots again. I have never had a problem with my Quest Element boots or any of the others I have bought. I definitely would not recommend this boot .
