This is my 2nd pair and I'm so glad they started making them again. They are the best!

I am really glad I bought these pants. They are really nice quality and I like the pockets. I will use them for cycling and Nordic skiing. I am a little in between sizes small and medium in smartwool. I got size medium and they fit great. I am 5'7" and 135 pounds.

So far I used these tights for some cold morning runs - a 5k and a 10k. They were amazing! The wind protective fabric on the thighs worked perfectly. My legs stayed warm yet dry because of the wool's breathability. They wash well but. I did lay them out to dry - I hate putting wool in the dryer as it is prone to shrinking. One issue for me was the typical tights slippage. Almost all running tights I've worn just don't like to stay up and unfortunately these tights also tend to slide down. The drawstring did help a bit so I was thankful for that!! All in all, I think this is a great product! #SmartwoolLove

These are the perfect skate ski or winter dog run pants! Really comfortable, warm, and wicking so I don't chill afterwards.

"#sweepstakes" These are super warm, and DRY in damp or drizzly weather conditions. They seem a little long which it would be nice if SW offered petite sizes, and they seemed a bit itchy after washing, thus the reason for 4 stars only. Additionally other colors would be a fantastic plus.

Outdoor cold weather hiking. They're super warm and wind proof. I love the soft lining and zipper on back of leg. Need to add a better drawstring to waist though. Because they do tend to slip down a little.

Enjoy a lot about these: the wind panel really does help with running or skiing in the cold, soft wool, nice pockets, long enough, zipper at ankle makes for easier on and off. Only problems I have: relatively thin woolnot leggings to squat in! Also the waist is pretty low for something meant for cold weather. They do ride down on me even with the waist cinched and I get some lower back chills. But they are still great wool winter athletic tights! 145 lbs, 5'9", Small fits well.

Leggings worked great in low 20 degree weather and wind. My legs stayed warm. The only reason I took 1 star off the rating was the zipper on the back of the ankle. As I was running the zipper pull kept falling down and rubbing on the back of my ankle.

I moved to South Dakota from the south, boy is it cold here! But I am thankful to have found Smartwool products. These pants are great to wear indoors, and outdoors as a base layer. I love it. I can go walking in 20 weather (but not -17). I do wish there was a side pocket for my phone.

Running in the cold. I love the pants, but the drawstring is too stretchy, and I'm constantly having to pull them up.

I love these leggings, use these as a base layer for skiing on really windy days, blocks it all out. Only change in design I would make is that it came up higher on my waist and a more durable way to cinch up the waist band.

Love how these feel but definitely too long for me, should come in petite.

Wool tights are amazing, and these are SUPER warm. Have worn them while XC ski coaching (not moving too much) down to just below freezing with no layer underneath. For actually skiing or winter running, you could go colder. I had tried these on in the store before ordering. I'm 5'7" 140# and got the M. The L was less tight on the legs but the waist was too big. So they are snug and my butt does pull these down a little - if they had a little more butt it would be better, as there can be a gap in back. I do wish they were a bit less tight, but no complaints - I'll be wearing these a lot.

These are great for cold weather running or XC skiing. The wind Sheila later in the front works great and has a nice stretch to it. I have a shapely athletic fit with wide hips and I find that the back rides down a bit. Maybe a little more room for the tush? #sweepstakes

I'm pretty curvy (12-14" hip/waist difference depending on weight fluctuation), as well as plus-size (16/18) and petite (5'3"). Finding ANY fully-featured gear that fits is tricky. I usually order 7/8 leggings if petite sizes aren't offered. Besides needing a short inseam, the main issue with leggings is getting them to stay up at the waist. I ordered these specifically because of the drawstring at the waist, which is great for curves . Happily, these leggings do fit surprisingly well! So I wanted to write this review for people who are also very curvy and wondering if the style will work. The rise could be a bit higher in the back and lower in the front, and thigh area could be a little more generous as well. When I've cinched the waist to the point that they stay up while I'm on my bike, there is probably about an inch of extra material gathered at the waistband, and many, many inches of extra drawstring. I've modified the drawstring a bit with a plastic toggle so I can cinch and uncinch the it easily; I also sewed in a small elastic loop to keep the excessive drawstring length tidy. I may eventually replace the drawstring with something less stretchy if it doesn't hold up. I expected the inseam of the XL would be too long for me (with a 28" inseam) but it's pretty good. I like the pockets and reflective details. I wish there was more reflective areas and a flashy/trendy colorway in addition to the black (really trying to be seen on the bike and love for my clothes to feel fun, not just functional). I will wear these for snowshoeing and daily winter cycling. The main reason I would not recommend to a friend is the extremely limited size range--only about a third of US women fall into this XS-XL size range. Your need for warm, functional clothing does not simply vanish when your hips exceed 47".

These are warm, and the wind block panel really works. The waist is a little low and loose. I find I am constantly tugging at the drawstring and pulling up the waist as I run. It tends to sag and fall down. These would be perfect if they were a bit higher waisted and had a better fit for waist. Very warm!

I want to love these tights but they just don't fit me. I'm a typical lady runner build (5'5" and 135 with athletic quads). The mediums are just way too snug and restrictive for my liking (despite being within the measurements on the size chart), so I took a chance and order the larges. The larges are comically big, they fit my thighs but the waist is so gappy they'll never stay up -- even with the drawstring -- and they are so long I had to tight roll the cuffs. I'm super sad I have to send these back but the are just too expensive to fit me so poorly.

These are labeled as "relaxed fit" and according to the size chart measurements I'm between a small and a medium (5'5" and 135 lbs.) so I went with a medium. They just arrived and they fit like super snug compression tights and are uncomfortably restricive. They certainly aren't a relaxed fit on me. I just re-ordered them in a large because they seem perfect for trail running when it's 15 or below but WHOA(!) was it work to get these on.

Love the pant, but they creep down while wearing...need firmer waist (elastic?) to hold them in place. I wouldn't be able to run in these pants. Windproofing over seat would be a welcome improvement. Somewhat noisy...the fabric rustles as I walk...no stealth-mode possible!

Great product, the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it would be better if it was offered in petite. It's too hard to alter because of the zippers on the ankles.

I really like how comfortable and warm this fleece tight is. The only complaint I have is that it has the tendency to ride down when you are moving in it if you don't cinch it tightly in the waist. It is one of the most efficient winter running tight that I have experience. I would recommend it to anyone who is active outdoor during cold weather.

I'm sure they're fine for a tall person. The windproof portion hits on my calves because I have to first pull them way up and then roll them down to my ankles. I'm only 5'1". Apparently, cold walking clothing is not made for short women. However, they did keep me warm underneath 2 other pairs of tights at 35.

For years, I used the PHD Wind Tight as a go to for stand alone all day-wear pant, snowboarding layering piece and winter running, snowshoe, adventuring pants. They did it all and I would wear those pants for days in a row before I washed them. I literally wore the threads bare (in a good way, high quality for sure!!) This is the replacement piece and although they haven't made it through my first winter yet, I am already wearing them all day long. The merino fleece does seem ever so slightly thinner than the older PHD tight but many of the design features are the same as my most recent PHD pair (purchased 2018). I am happy to still have zippered ankles, drop in open and zippered side pockets and of course the wind paneling. I do wish the waist band was updated, it's still a rather non-stretchy waist band with a tie string. Many athletic tights now have a wider elastic waistband which helps keep everything up and in place. I'd also love to see this pants or maybe another product put the wind paneling on the back seat of the pants too, protecting the butt and thighs. As mentioned, I use these for snowshoeing and the kick back can be heavy wet snow, plus sometimes you just want to sit in the snow to take it all in! Overall still a cornerstone piece of my winter wardrobe and Smartwool's lineup, well done Smartwool! #SmartwoolLove

Not as soft and warm as I would have liked. The inside fleece was kind of poky/ abrasive.
