The most light weight and surprisingly warm jackets I've ever owned

Very pleased with this jacket. The fit is great and you can tell there is more fill weight in the arms versus the chest and back to keep your extremities warm. I have worn this in sub 20 degrees with only a single layer underneath and stayed warm. The only reason for 4 stars over 5 stars is the zipper. Northface, you should be doing better on a jacket like this. This is the cheapest zipper I have ever seen you use.

Warm and lightweight but the zipper was a pain.

Super warm lightweight jacket. The hood tightens in a weird way, and the zipper is hard to work since it's a double zipper.

Very warm, but too slim of a profile for my middle school son's liking. We returned it and purchased the 1996 Retro in blue instead. He loves that coat.

As a jacket, it is awesome. But the hood cinch system leaves a lot to be desired. Pulls the sides back to the ears and leaves gaps above the forehead and under the chin allowing air to get in the hood.

Warm. Lightweight. True to size. Don't like the iron on or screen print logo. Rather the logo be embroidered like before.

Much warmer than the original thermoball. Not very compressible, but that is to be expected from a highly-insulated synthetic jacket. Warmth is up there with a down puffy of similar size (albeit slightly heavier). Mine (Size M) weighs in at 22.8oz, which is considerably heavier than the listed weight. The hood cinch is mostly useless. The hood cinch cord just attaches to the inside of the hood at two locations, approximately level with the eye, and using the cinch "tightens" it in one lateral direction. It would be much more serviceable if it had a more traditional, around-the-face drawcord that actually decreased the size of the hood opening.

The coat is light and warm, the design is not as stylish as I expect.

Overall the jacket is very comfortable and stylish however I dislike the fact that the zipper wants to open up on its own.

Great light jacket that keeps me warm. The jacket feels so light that you would think there is no way this will be as warm as my older down jacket but to my surprise it is quite warm. I like the color and it feels good to wear. I wish the zipper was more like the one on the down jacket but it works. The jacket is not wind proof so I will probably wear my future light jacket over top when it is really cold. I have warn the jack it the 20's. I would buy it again.

This is a super light jacket and so far it is very warm but also not too warm. I think it is comfortable from 50's down to 20's. Maybe even colder but the weather hasn't gotten there yet. Zipper could be better but isn't bad. Just feels not as nice as most of my North Face jackets. The jacket looks nice. Wind protection is okay. I would buy it again.

This is a nice jacket I just wish the logo was stitched in instead it looks like a iron on logo I'm sure going to rub off after the first wash

What I was looking for in terms of warmth, weight, and style. There's a double zipper on the front that sticks when trying to zip up. Maybe I'm just not used to double zippers. Ended up returning it.

I wear a backpack daily and the cheap iron on is scratching off. Why did they cut corners on this jacket with an iron-on instead of embroidery? Looks old and cheap even if the jacket itself is still in good condition.

A real shame! I already own a The North Face jacket (without a hood), but wanted to try this because it has a hood, is environmentally friendly, and doesn't use animal products. I ordered this despite reading negative reviews about the zippers, because most of the reviews were still good. It felt comfortably and warm trying it on, and it looked nice, but it took so many tries to get it to zip up(like 30 seconds to a minute every time), and that was when I had it physically on my body. Zipping it up when it was hung on a hanger so that I could put it into my closet was even more frustrating. I really liked every aspect of this jacket except for the zippers. If they sold this same jacket with a better zipper, I'd buy that jacket, but I just received this jacket this afternoon, and the zippers are too much; I shipped it back a few minutes ago.

I was amazed at how perfect this coat was. However what I did not notice in the picture was the Northface logo was an iron on. 30 days in the logo is now peeling off. Returning today and switching to Patagonia. DO NOT BUY THE LOGO IS CHEAPLY IRONED ON!!

It did not fit well. Too small in the shoulders even after my daughter measured it and assured me he that it would fit well. She wanted me to branch out from Carhartt and wear something more fashionable but it didn't appear to be designed / cut for a guy my size even though she measured it carefully.
