After wearing these a week, they’re not as comfortable as my 1080’s. I think the soles feel stiffer. My feet are tired after wearing them. Which I did not have with the 180’s

Beautiful shoe. I've moved from 13N to 13M in New Balanance shoes. I'm a size 12 but I size up to give room for my orthotics. These shoes were wide enough but too short.

This has been my go to walking shoe for at least 5 years and they are still my favorite except for one issue (New Balance take notice). The quality of the shoe is not as good as it used to be. I am replacing them more often because the lining in the heel wears through very quickly. I've been extending use by putting over the counter heels pads in the shoe where the lining is gone but if I can find a shoe that feels as good as this one and doesn't wear out so fast, I'll be switching my favorite. I have a pair that I wear to garden that is at least four years old and the lining is still intact in that pair so I'm not sure what changed with the materials used to construct the shoe but I wish New Balance would go back to using whatever materials they used in previous versions.

Shorter than previous 840s I have.

I really like these shoes, but they were a little to big. I'm ordering a half size smaller and they hopefully they should fit.

nice , but too wide comparing to the old 840 v3 which i have been wearing. so now order 8.5 med. so how it fits . thanks

Several years ago, New Balance was the only athletic shoe I could find that had half sizes in wide width (D). I thought this might work in a standard width (B) but found it too narrow.

Finally, a comfortable sneaker that fits my ever-widening feet. The extra width definitely shows - I wish they didn't make my feet look quite so clown-like. However, I can wear them without discomfort while on my feet all day, which is what I was looking for. A good sneaker for wide feet. Would recommend.

I've worn many past versions of the women's 840. The top on this one seems harder, less pliable. I'm having difficulty breaking them in. Also, this iteration has slits for shoe laces rather than round eyelets. They are skinny, hard to lace, hard to adjust laces... I don't like this aspect at all. Hopefully with time they'll soften and be more comfortable.

I really want these cute 840 shoes to work out, of the 2 NB's that I ordered, but after trying rocker shoes for the second time because it felt as if I was walking against my feet, it seems like my arches want to go down and in. I am going to ask my PT what he thinks. My toe area was definitely short in the NB 847, but these are better. I guess the most problem I am having is that my ankle bones are sitting on top of my shoes rubbing, like I need a low profile like what I used to get in Reebok before they were discontinued many years ago. No one, especially my Drs can believe how many shoes I have tried especially when my tests are negative. I need a test for weight bearing and motion, not negativity and blaming the other guy.

I have purchased this style twice before and the 9.5 D fir perfectly. Not so this time. I am returning them. I ordered a 10 wide.

Feels good generally. Disappointed in the roominess of the toe box.

Pros: good arch support, good quality. Cons: pretty heavy, pressing on the little toe. I am still looking for the perfect sneaker with good arch support and lightweight.

840 V5 is ok but not as good as the 840v4. Unable to get the V4 any longer. Please bring it back because it is more comfortable.

Still better than all other shoes for me and my problem feet and ankles (chronic peroneal tendinitis/tendinosis), but they have changed these a bit, very unfortunately. Why oh why do they do that?! They are slightly wider and the cushion is a bit different, and not for the better. I feel they’re a bit firmer than the old ones. The v4 hug my feet perfectly and these don’t. Giving them a try before I start the search for the perfect shoe again, now that they no longer make the perfect 840v4. It’s a sad, sad day. I use Superfeet Berry inserts with the v4, and even with those, the v5 isn’t quite up to par. Please please please go back to the v4, New Balance!
