I've had this hoody (red) for 2 months and it's super comfy but it's starting to pill already. I can only imagine it's only going to get worse. If the pilling wasn't an issue, it would be a great product.

Works great as a mid layer. Warmth is impressive for the weight. Wicks moisture well, and dries reasonably fast. However there is zero face fabric durability. I experienced pilling and mild matting within a single use. A Procline Hybrid style version would solve a lot of problems. If you care how your gear looks, proceed with caution because this will appear beat up quick.

I love this fleece. It is super soft and cozy and warm. However, when I wore it for a coastal day hike with a backpack for one day, it pilled aggressively where the straps rubbed. I understand that this is not intended as outerwear or abrasion resistant, but I was disappointed that the fabric gave out so quickly, it is not the quality I usually experience from Arc'teryx. I have an older model of this piece, the old Kyanite before they differentiated between LT and AR. It is similar to the new AR weight/thickness, but much more durable.

I purchased this bc I love my Kyanite LT and figured I'd add the heavier AR for Colorado winters. Was surprised when it arrived and felt lighter on than the LT. Still a great hoody, but phantasm color wasn't great for me so I returned. Will likely add another LT.

My boyfriend bought this jacket in mid October and it's already started to pill on the outside. He uses it primarily at work because his office is cold, and the right sleeve (that comes into contact more frequently with the desk) has major pilling. He's washed it once. Other than that it's a beautiful cut for a fleece that can usually look very boxy. The fleece on the inside has stayed soft.

I bought a couple of these a few years ago and wore them until the zippers fell off. I would buy again, but the cut has been altered and what used to be a nice slim fit now fits like a burlap sack.

This is my third Kyanite hoodie but my first of the new AR version. My prior two held up very well but this new AR version has some pretty serious pilling issue with the fabric that require fairly regular use of a pilling shaver, definitely not what I expect out of a premium product with a premium price.

I purchased the jacket a month ago and noticed a lot of piling around the lower back of the jacket. I realize this area is subject to abrasion from sitting but I'm normally sitting in my car seat and office chair. It's not like I'm sitting on a log somewhere. I'm pretty disappointed especially with a jacket at this price point. I've already had to use a pill shaver on the jacket.

I purchased this hoody approximately a month ago and just noticed today that the fabric has pilled around the lower front half of the hoody, I would expect more quality like arc's other products however i would not recommend buying this for the cost, there are better options at cheaper prices.

I think the prior Kyanite was the best fleece / hoody ever made. Athletic fit, but not not so tight it bunches up shirts underneath like the R1. It was warm, but very breathable, perfect hood, perfect stretch, perfect sizing, nice long length, harness compatible, great pockets & elastic wrists, very durable, stain & resistant and sooooo comfortable I wear them all day long inside and out. Unfortunately, the new Kyanite AR is MUCH thinner than the prior version. Looks like they tried to save cost quite a bit, and they already have an LT version so why ruin the Kyanite? Fortunately I was able to snatch up one last original Kyanites before they were all gone. Now have four of them I hope to last forever. Please bring back the OG Kyanite!

This jacket doesn't seem great, but it's a pretty comfy indoor hoody. The arms are short, the zipper gets caught, and the color is way off from what is shown online. For the price, I would skip this, if I had worn it outside without taking the tags off, I would have returned it.

Design is nice and got a lot of compliments when using it. However, the material quality is really bad. Bought this one month ago and only washed it once. The fabric started pilling on its left lateral side. Very disappointed considering how expensive the product is. Not worth the price.

I own all sorts of mid layers like this. This is by far the worst. Aside from pilling after one use, the fit is not flattering at all. Because there is no backer to the fleece, the collar flops around unless its zipped all the way up. The quality is sub par. This was a great item up until 2017 or so when they changed it, probably to save money. The result is a disappointment. Bear in mind this review was heavily moderated as well.

My fianc has tons of Arc'teryx gear and I've always avoided it because it was too expensive for me. I bought this hoody to see what all the fuss is about. It is very comfortable but I am extremely disappointed in how badly it's pilling. The front, back and sleeves are pilling. At first I noticed it was pilling from where my vehicles seatbelt rubbed. I then noticed it was pilling where backpack straps sit. And my golf bag straps. And my camera bag straps. You get the idea. For an outdoors brand that prides and prices itself on reliability it should be usable with things typically associated with the outdoors without falling apart. I'm afraid to rub against door frames in this sweater, and it's the most expensive piece of clothing I own.

I am so disappointed in the kyanite. I own 6 and decided to get one for my husband for Christmas since I live in mine. I bought him one in black and wow by the end of January it was pilling (that's 1 month!!), after 6 mths the entire front has pilling. He's wearing this in the basement because it is cold, sitting in his home office, WFH. To make this even more disappointing, he is not even wearing the kyanite all the time (he has many sweat shirts in rotation). When my husband tells me he is afraid to wear the "super great quality and $$$ sweater" I bought him because he is afraid of making the pilling worse...that is what inspired me to write this review. I have older kyanites (2017 and 2018 models) and those are not pilIing. I got my entire family into Arc'teryx raving about the quality - clearly I'm mistaken. Please do not tell me the nature of fleece pills, when I own 6 and they are not pilling and have gotten MUCH more actual wear than my husband's new Kyanite. Good thing he doesn't know how much I spent otherwise he'd flip. Really Arc'teryx? I expected better.
