Really nice jacket just wish L.L.Bean gave temperature ratings on their jackets!

My grandson's birthday is in October and every year, for the past three years, I have bought him this jacket, at his request. I was skeptical at first, because it is so thin, but he loves it and says it keeps him warm.

Perfect for fall NYC weather! Ordered the black and love the blue trim- it's not another boring black jacket for my kid. Use it in 50 weather with a long sleeve shirt or 40 with a sweater. Also, like the fit. Doesn't look boxy on my son.

Bought one for my 5 years old. My 6 year old liked it so I bought him one. They both wear them and they love them. Super thin but super warm. Totally recommend especially for kids who don't like to wear coats. They will wear these!

Not 100% convinced it is as warm as advertised, but it's incredibly comfy and looks great! We haven't had a lot of really cold weather yet but my daughter was a bit chilly when it was around 40 degrees.

Bought this to replace the one my son outgrew and I am so disappointed it no longer has a hood. If I didn't have a newborn I would have returned it but it will have to do. Otherwise it's a great, warm but unbulky coat which is important to me when I have to carry or pack coats for multiple kids. But the hood is important so I so don't have to carry and try not to lose multiple hats. I hope the hood finds its way back the next time I need to buy one.

This has been our go-to fall/spring jacket in chilly Chicago. Sizing is generous, my average sized daughter, fit size 5-6 from age 5-7 and was able to wear for two seasons. Unfortunately I will have to scour second hand sites to get a coat this year in the next size up because L.L. Bean has gotten rid of the hood and I prefer a coat with a hood. This review is another plea to bring back the hood!

We need the hood back! This was a great jacket that we bought next size up a few yeas in a row but we need hoods. Hopefully they will be back next year.

I bought this for my average sized 3.5 year old and sized up, with the hopes she can wear it next year as well. The coat has been great for CT fall weather. It is very thin, but I own the adult version so I know prima loft is warmer than it appears. Still, for very cold days, we have her wear a ll bean fleece jacket underneath. The jacket is well made, stylish, and washes well. The one thing it is missing is a cord around the bottom hem which would allow you tighten it and thus keep in more heat. The pull cord feature is standard on the ll bean fleece jackets and waist length adult primaloft jackets.

I bought this Primaloft packaway WITH HOOD for many years for my boys. Now no hood and my youngest son needs a bigger size. The hood was perfect for fending off wind, rain or even bugs...it protects the neck in a way a hat never can and is always with my child and can't be lost. Please bring this back with a hood in better, cheery boy colors? Neither of my boys have liked dark colors (black and hunter green) and these colors attract more heat, aren't visible in low light settings for safety, and studies show bugs target them.

This jacket is fantastic. My kids love wearing it and it works well for layering. That means temp range 30-60 degrees. It packs well bc it is so light. The biggest negative is that it DOESNT HAVE A HOOD!!! Why no hood? It would literally be perfect with one.

Good quality, of course. My son doesn't like this coat without the hood, though. We've been buying these coats for years. Most kids like a hood on their jackets and sweatshirts these days. What happened to the hood, LL Bean??? Returning this.

I have bought LL Bean packaway jackets for my sons every year since my oldest son was 3 year olds. They are the best Fall & Spring jackets: light weight, easy to move in, warm, wind-resistant, easy to stuff in a backpack and durable enough to pass down. My boys always complained when they finally had to move to their heavier coats for New England winters. My only complaint is that it no longer has a hood! The hood was one of the best parts of this jacket through changing seasons. My children never had to worry about bringing a hat if it got windy or too chilly. Please bring back the hood to make this the perfect kids' jacket again!

I bought these jackets for both of my kids (size 14 for 11yo daughter, size 8 for 8yo son). Both my kids love the jackets because they are so lightweight yet warm. Both kids have a different heavier/warmer coat that they refuse to wear, as they prefer to just add a warmer layer under this jacket instead (no matter how cold it is outside). My main complaint is that the jacket fabric is not durable at all, and the jackets are not holding up to outdoor play. My kids spend a lot of time outside at the park (building tree forts, climbing on things, playing with sticks, etc.), and every time they play outside we find another small rip in the fabric. I had to buy gear aid nylon repair tape, and my daughter's jacket now has at least 8-10 tape patches on it from the holes. Next year we will look for a different lightweight jacket with more durable fabric!

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I purchased this for my granddaughter for her 12th birthday. When it came, I was shocked at how thin it was. It looks like it was stitched with channels and then no filling was inserted. I'm not sure where one would wear this, but she wanted a puffer jacket, and this is not it.

Terrible fit. Not for normal people's bodies. Used to this for adult clothing but should not be for kids, especially from L.L. Bean. Long, skinny arms, slim hourglass type waist and color not as advertised. Will be returning. LLB used to be the go-to place for reliable kids clothing but not so much anymore. Need to find a new source for clothes that fit real people.
