Amazing bag pack for travel

So much space, very comfortable, and lasts a long time. Best part about this is there's a warranty. I've had other North Face bags that got damaged some how, and they either fix or completely replace it.

I use the Recon as an everyday carry bag. It replaced a Jansport bag that I still love. I use it for travel and take it with me almost every day around town--work or play. My laptop fits and is well protected. Last summer I used it on a two-week trip to the Netherlands and it served me perfectly. I recently carried it, along with another carry-on bag, on a work trip to Arizona and Colorado and it continued to impress me. The expandable mesh pocket is a great feature. I had a tube of sunscreen in it with sharp edges, and I was afraid the edges would poke a hole in the mesh, but the mesh was not damaged. Plenty of pockets allow good organization. The stylish asymmetric side pockets are deep enough to hold an umbrella or water bottle without fear of it falling out. The softly padded pockets are nice too. After using the Recon for months, I discovered another pocket I didn't even know was there! The zipper is hidden under a flap directly above the mesh pocket. The straps are comfortable to wear, too. The North Face has done their homework with the Recon. Perfection in a bag is rare. Hope the design is not changed!

Been using it for school. Phone pouch is soft and wont scratch the screen.

Bag is just the size I was looking for when traveling as it fits perfectly under the seat in front.

Backpack is great! Lovely color and design, well constructed too. Space is very functional and holds more than I expected. Overall, very pleased with the purchase.

And I trust North Face because of their quality and lifetime guarantee. Every NF backpack I've ever owned has gotten unacceptably dirty before it has failed in any way. Love them.

I've used this backpack for a few months now and I do love it. It's very comfortable and has enough space for me to travel in and also lets me scrunch it down for a smaller form when I use it to commute from school and work. The build quality is good and it's held up well. The only issues I had was the tablet pocket is slightly too small for a 10.9 Ipad Air to fit and I am forced to put it in with my laptop or the main pocket and the pockets in front compartment are somewhat strange sizing wise, able to fit a lot of small stuff but not my large calculator or headphones.

I love this backpack, i use it to go to school, to go to work and to travel. It is very versatile

My son asked for a North Face backpack for his birthday. The Recon backpack is sturdy and has 3 compartments, one for a laptop, one with slots for small items like a cell phone, keys, wallet, etc., and a main compartment. He wanted it for work so the features of the Recon worked well.

Using this for daily work use - carrying laptop, paperwork, etc. Works quite well and has just the right # and type of pockets. Solid do-it-all pack for work and short trips.
