I use the backpack for school, and I also had the last version of the Recon that the North Face made as well. Unfortunately, this version has a smaller main compartment for my binders. However, there is an additional pocket in the back for computers. The front storage compartment is very nice. I also have a larger water bottle which does not fit in the side pockets because they are made from a non-stretchable material. The material is appreciated so holes do not form, but I wish they would allow 32 oz water bottles. Overall I would rather buy the old version because of the bigger size and water bottle capacity.

Very well designed with easy access to all the small things you to pull out quickly while in the airport. Comfortable even when the bag is full and you need to stand in line for a long time

I use this backpack for work and school and so far it's probably my favorite backpack in a really long time! Im 6ft tall and this bag doesn't look goofy on me like some bags often can. It's not really a complaint but I just wish they had more color options other than that I'm a huge fan of this bag hopefully y'all keep the same features and style for a long time!

This knapsack is really fine to sport about.
The fact that is stands up on its own is quite a plus as well!

Great quality and the perfect size. I recently used this backpack for traveling and vacation. It was the perfect size to pack everything I needed for the airport and plane. Also love the color.

I purchased this backpack for my husband to use as a carryon for a trip we recently took to Belize. It was the perfect size to put under the seat on the airplane. He loved all the compartments for his laptop, snacks, extra clothing, sunglasses, and water bottle. Being able to wear it on his back while navigating the airport with our checked baggage was perfect. Now I want one!

I really liked how it had multiple compartments to separate my laptop from my other items I use for school. What I didn't like too much was there were too many different straps that just dangle around that I can't take off since I don't use them most of the time

Great balance of space an usability. Generally this is used as a daily backpack for laptop, books, writing stuff. But it also works great for a day pack for bike rides and hikes

Great product , after 15 years zipper failed on the last one. I always buy north face for durability.

Love my new backpack! I have an older model Recon for over 15 years and it was still going strong but looking a little over-used. The new one is just as useful and well constructed with many improvements including deeper water bottle pockets, improved front pocket and more. I just took out with me on a ski trip and it worked great for travel and hauling stuff to the slopes.

I purchased this bag for my trip to Utah. I have two other Northface bags that I regularly use but I wanted to camouflage in this one. It looks amazing. I love the changes that they made with the new one. Can't go wrong with North face bags. Only the best

Use the bag for work and frequent travel. Perfect for bringing my laptop, notes, and tablet. Plenty of storage options for what I need. Not a massive bag but I wasn't looking for something that was huge.

This a great pack. Looks great and seems very well organized. Water bottle side pockets could be a little bigger considering the size of water bottles sold these days.

This is a daily work bag and has enough space and compartments to make it the perfect back pack to carry my laptop, files, notebooks, etc. to handle everything I can throw at it. This backpack has padded straps and stands up on its own for easy access and one-hand access. This is perfect for work, school, and travel.

I bought this for commuting and as a carry on. I thought 30 liters plus would be enough to replace another 30 liter pack. But all the internal separators, padding, zippers, and pockets actually reduce the functionality and space.

I bought this January 2022 and as of April 2 2022 one of the straps stitching has came undone, padding also seems to have not been unattached to the rest of the padding. It's very inconvenient having to send this back to Texas for review of the damage and be without a backpack for up to 6 weeks! My child will be out of school by then!

Really good bag, I've had it for about 4 years. I use it for school which it works great for. Used it for some roadtrips, which it was a little small for some but still worth it. No big tears or damage other that a small hole in the front mesh pocket. Would recommend and would buy again.

I requested this as a gift a few years back after doing a lot of research into various backpacks and I have not been disappointed. I primarily use it as my bag to and fro work/my GHB but have also used it while traveling as my personal item. The big win for me was its water bottle sleeves on the side hold a 32 oz Nalgene PERFECTLY with enough stretch to accomodate it but little enough to hold it snuggly. Also the waterbottle sleeves coming up as high as they do is clutch, my last backpack had a short little bottle cubby and my Nalgene was constantly tipping out.
Love the zipper pulls (a lot, please don't change them), love the sternum strap, the materials have held up well over 3 years of me lugging it back and forth 5 days a week, the laptop sleeve is very nice if you need one, the main compartment is spacious and holds a surprising amount of stuff, and the Recon is just very comfortable to wear and carry. The handle at the top of the bag has held up well and is comfortable to grab (small things build to big satisfaction).
About my only critique (if you want to call it that) is the secondary compartment with all the little compartments for pens, pocket knife, keys, sunglasses, slash whatever floats your boat to put in them is a bit busy for my taste. I'd prefer a streamlined compartment with maybe one or two zippered compartments or nooks, but that's just personal preference.

I use it to go to work now; however, I intend to use it for other occasions. I really like the color, style, look, and material. I think it could be lighter.
