I'm six months into these boots and I couldn't be more satisfied. The lug sole has the perfect amount of squish which is a God send since I stand all day at work. They've withstood the PNW rain and slushy snow and still look amazing. They're roomy in the toe so you can get away with thick socks in the winter. The soft lug tread has held up well and hasn't disintegrated on the sharp gravel I walk through often. Overall they are the perfect winter boot, definitely worth it.

I have a black pair from the 1922 collection I've had these boots several years and they are still perfect well made of the finest materials great fit

I have three pair of these boots and like them very much! They broke in very quickly, and I wear them every other day to do my 1.5 mile city walk to and from the office. Only 4 stars due to the laces that come with a size 11 boot. They need to be 8" longer on this size boot, otherwise they only make the first lug. AE: You need to provide longer laces on the larger size boots.

I bought the waterproof lug soled Higgins to wear both for city touring and desert/mountain hikes while on vacation. They look durable enough for that. Smooth burgundy leather that looks like it has a paint or coating on it. Sturdy eyelets, speed hooks and laces. Sole is lighter weight rubbery foam --- hope they can endure city cobblestones and rocky trails. We'll see. Would have preferred tough Vibram, despite the additional weight. On the plus side, it's light and comfortable. I've seen some reviews boot call it a "dress" boot. Not at all, at least the lug-soled version. This is a wide, roomy, bulbous outdoorsy boot that can handle thick hiking socks. It's by far the widest footwear I own in an E width and would look strange with anything but casual pants. If a colleague arrived at a semi-formal business meeting with these, I'd send him home. But for casual wear --- jeans, hiking shorts, khakis --- these look like winners.

Handsome! The waterproof lining goes all the way up, but the tongue is still loose. So don't step in any deep puddles. The lining also takes up a lot of toe space. The non-Vibram lug soles are mushy. They just squish wherever compressed. Soft, yes, supportive, no. So your steps are uncertain. My legs were tired after wearing these for a day. Return to Vibram, please.

I got this boot to work as a security guard. There were some minor flaws that I didnt initially spot at the store, but nothing to gripe about. The first thing i didnt like was the waterproof technology not allowing my foot to breathe properly. The second thing I dislike was how the tongue is not grooved all the way to the top, to keep water from spilling in through the tongue when I stepped in a deep puddle. The third, and most important thing I didnt like was the sole; its cushiony which makes it kind of easy to stand on all day, but with that comes a lack of stability when I lean on the edge and the shoe begins to lean to the side. Not to mention the shoe is kind of wide, but thick socks fit better in wide boots in Winter conditions. Good thing I wore down the standard soles after one year and can get them resoled with a hard rubber sole that you expect on a boot, not this soft foamy lug sole which shouldnt be standard. Other than that its an okay boot, but i wouldnt recommend as is.

This shoe runs loose. I'm a consistent 11.5 across brands though the 11.5 in this was quite loose. Exchanged for a 11 and even that's loose. Now the store wouldn't accept another exchange cause I've worn it for a few days. Be sure to try it thoroughly indoors before you put the ring on it. Otherwise the build quality is quite good. There is stiffness to the leather and the shoe does not feel very comfortable out the box, but I'm told that genuine leather takes time to break in so that's actually a good sign. It is also something I wouldn't call light weight. But that's a matter of personal taste.

Terrific boots. I bought them to navigate winter business trips to Warsaw, Poland. Feet dry and warm? Check. Traction on icy sidewalks? Check. Worked with jeans, chinos, and trousers? Check.

I have another pair of HM in brown cxl with dainite soles and love them. This newest pair is HM with Lug Sole in black. First observation is that this lug sole is very lightweight and a bit soft making even more comfortable and better for hiking IMO. Not sure what kind of leather these black ones are but this leather seems thinner and softer than cxl. Overall these are keepers and I like the differences for their appropriate use case. I plan to sell my Thursdays with lug soles in favor of the far superior fit and comfort of these AE's.

Great boots. I needed something to wear with a suit that could stand up to a walk through the city in winter, and these do the trick. So far, they've handled rain, snow, and slush without issue.

The boots are excellent, though the original laces were too short and I had to replace them. Most likely because my boots were 3E.

Great boots. They look dressy enough but keep the feet warm and dry in the winter!!! (I just need to figure out the best way to lace them).

Surprisingly light lug soles, but I've been impressed with how they've broken in, and the soles seem to be holding up well. Impressed by construction and quality. The last is a little bit chunkier than other boots I wear, so the boot doesn't look super sleek on the foot. But it works really well as a more casual/everyday boot, and the extra room around the foot allows it tp stay comfortable regardless of what you're doing.

Great for your typical Michigan winter. Not designed for super harsh weather but for a weather resistant leather boot. They're pretty good.

I just received this Burgundy adding to my extensive Higgins Mill collection. No boot is more comfortable & fits me better than the AE 1757 last in 9.5 eee to cover my very wide 9 eeeee bricks. I like the dark welt for this color, super comfortable lug sole & how it works with business casual or rolled cuff dark blue jean. These beautiful boots are to be charishe & will only get better in time. Perfect for refecrafting when the lug soles wear out. Like all the other, a lifetime investment!
