Fit and size were true; ASICS shoes have always felt sturdy, particularly in the heel cup. This iteration of the Gel-Tactic is an improvement and my 4YO pair are still going strong.

Shoes are true to size...wide toe box and a snug fit in the bridge area. They are comfortable and provide a soft feel especially in the heels area. I have normal pronation and arches, but my foot tends to overpronate (inwards) just a little while walking on them, so I would say they do not provide too much arch support.

I had a really hard time finding a pair of shoes in my son's size for his final season of college volleyball. He's previously worn Asics, but not this style. He likes the fit and feel. He'll go play at open gym tonight and will have a better idea how they are for jumping. They have a pretty basic look to them - I think he was hoping for more pizazz in the style, but wasn't going to complain when he knew how hard they were to find. Fingers crossed they work out since I'm not sure what I'd replace them with.

I think this is the only normal-width shoe that Asics made this year. It's comfortable and stable for regular feet. If you have narrow feet this will feel wide to you. I used to wear the Asics Gel-Revolution and it also had a normal fit. I tried on this year's Revolution model and I couldn't fit my feet into the shoes because they are now extremely narrow. Asics is famous for making it impossible to buy the same model two years in a row. So this year's "normal" width shoe is the Gel-Tactic. BTW, I also tried the Solution Speed FF2, Gel-Challenger 13, and Solution Swift FF. The second closest "normal" width shoe is the Solution Swift FF.

Great cushion but would be better is they were grippier to the floor (like the FF Blast 2). A bit more arch support and a tad lest wide (to prevent slippage) would make ir 5 star.

Rubber sole wore out within two weeks of getting them. Also hurt my ankles and feet with the overall stiffness of this shoe.

Very cheap shoe. Sides by front of shoe opened up after a few weeks of just walking. Very cheap material. First time I ever had an issue like this with this brand. Must have cut back on quality.
