My first pair of Skechers. So happy to find a 6 1/2N that fits well and is comfortable. It is a little shallow in the toe box but otherwise a good fit - and they look great!

I am 67 years old. In 2007 I had a bad fall down some concrete stairs resulting in a compound fracture that separated my right foot from my leg. After more than a year in a wheelchair and multiple surgeries I finally was able to walk again. And, after 15 years I am facing additional surgery on this ankle. Additionally, I have spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, and other annoying health problems. Therefore, I am always on the lookout for comfortable shoes… which is NOT an easy task. Over the years my feet have changed, and my go-to brands no longer work for me. Unfortunately, I also have high arches, high instep and wide feet … not to mention a bunion on my left foot. I was skeptical about Sketchers shoes … but decided to give them a try. I settled on the Sketcher Performance Go Walk Joy because it was said to have good arch support. Here are my pros and cons: Pros: 1. OVERALL FEEL: When I first put these shoes on, I didn’t like the way they felt. I planned on returning them. They felt a good size smaller than marked and the soles felt too squishy. I have to wear support socks, frequently paired with a brace on my ankle, and the last thing you want are shoes that are too short. Unfortunately, timing can be a funny thing, because at the time I was trying on these shoes my cat, Tinsie, threw up in the shoes I had been wearing. So, I decided to keep the Sketchers. Much to my surprise, it didn’t take long before they were feeling more comfortable. 2. SOLES: The soles no longer feel squishy. The important thing is they don’t grab the carpet or tile … which causes me to fall. 3. FLEXIBLE: Despite being too short these shoes are flexible enough that I can wear my cotton support socks (Jobst) as well as accommodate a streamlined ankle brace. Doubtful if it could handle my heavy-duty brace. I would like more room in the toe area … but I’m making it. 4. LATERAL STABILITY: I have been wearing KURU, Vionic, New Balance, etc … both in slip-on and lace ups. The problem I’ve had with all of these shoes is that my right foot leans to the right … to the point I’ve had to wear Lateral Heel Wedge Insole shoe inserts … which are corrective orthopedic inserts for over pronation. I’m happy to say the Sketchers have more than adequate lateral stabilization. So, these inserts are not necessary. 5. LACES: I like that I don’t have to lace up. I was looking for a shoe that I could just slip into. These fit the bill. Cons: 1. SIZE: Full size too small. I now wear a size 11W. Ordered a size 12 in the Sketchers and they are not as roomy as any of my size 11 shoes... no matter the brand. 2. OVERALL SUPPORT: I’m concerned the flexibility of these shoes may not provide adequate all-day support/comfort … for me. This would not have been an issue for me prior to 2007. I wear these around the house … both inside (carpet and tile) ... and outside (deck, grass, HILLS, and woods), etc. I’m on my feet a lot ... and although I find these shoes to be very comfortable, I still experience ankle pain that I attribute to a lack of support. SKETCHERS HAS A PROBLEM: I’m already looking for a different brand shoe because Sketchers caters to those with normal to narrow feet. I’m not willing to settle for a style of shoe based on size because the style I want doesn’t come in WIDE. For instance … if you go to the Sketchers website and select ‘Slip-on Shoes” in size 12 in a Wide Width you are presented with two styles of shoes to consider. Yet if you have a Medium Width foot you are presented with 28 styles for consideration. Sketchers is going to have to do a better job if they want to keep my business. One of the biggest complaints I see on Zappos deals with the fact that there are not enough Wide Width shoes. Something for vendors to consider. Zappos is great. I have absolutely no complaints as far as Zappos is concerned. They are the best company when it comes to selection and customer service ... and this is why I keep coming back.

This did not feel like a wide shoe. Overall the shoe is made well. No ties for laces on these.

I bought narrow because I am a AA and they are very comfortable. I walk 1-2 miles everyday. However, I wish I could tighten the elastic laces.

I have a very narrow foot and although these are a narrow size they are still loose on me. Part of it could be because they're slip ons. Overall I like them and am keeping them because finding shoes of any kind in a narrow size is next to impossible!

I had never tried Skechers before. I tried the same size I usually wear in New Balance, and the shoes were a little big. I like the slip on style. It’s harder to find shoes in narrow width.

For those that have a high arch - these are not the shoes. I to have arch and had a terrible time getting my foot in the shoe. Sadly, they are going back.

These were very soft and comfortable sneakers but I had to return them because I need a lot of FIRM arch support and these did not have firm arch support. If you need medium arch support and want a comfortable sneaker I recommend them.

The shoes look nice and are comfortable but as most skechers with elastic laces, they fit and feel too wide. I find I need to put another insert into the shoe in order for it to not be sloppy when I walk. That seems to fix it and once I did that, they were much more comfortable.

FYI, ladies with feet wide at front, narrow at back. I bought this shoe, the Sketchers Performance Go Walk Joy Gen 5 Ecstatic - as a summer (fabric upper) replacement for the Sketchers Performance Go Walk Joy Gen 4 - Gratitude (suede upper)., which has been the best fitting shoe I've ever had. (I bought 4 pairs of them in various colors). I assumed that the fit would be the same. Not so. The fixed elastic laces allowed my foot to slide around so that my toes were crunched at the front and my heels slid up and down at the back. After a week of trying the pair that I had worn outside (and couldn't return), and making every adjustment, with insoles and socks etc., that I could think of, I went to the shoe repair store and asked for regular non-stretch laces, which they put in after cutting out the elastic laces that came in the shoes. I kept one other pair of the Ecstatic, but will have to buy regular laces for them too.
I'd also recommend:
Clarks sometimes, although size and width depend on shoe style.

I have doctor prescribed shoe arches. They fit right in the shoe. And no shoe strings to undie is a great thing for this senior citizens who finds it hard to bend over.

These were comfortable but I could not adjust these to fit. I thought they had regular tie laces when I ordered, but theses cannot be adjusted. I kept hoping I would be able to find a way to overcome not being able to adjust them but couldn't keep them from flopping on my feet.

I returned this shoe, upon trying them on with my 'no show' socks, the lacing on the inside of the shoe rubbed uncomfortably on the foot. I bought another pair at my local Skechers that are great! I walk every day after dinner and my new Skechers are so comfortable!

Today was the 2nd time trying to walk in these shoes. The fit in uncomfortable, it squeezes my toes together, this is the first time I have gotten a narrow shoe that is too narrow for my feet. They hurt my feet and I don't wish my feet to ever hurt. t

I wanted to like these but they fall short. I need a slip on shoe and have enjoyed a Propet style with a bungee cord closing, no longer made. These Skechers have an elastic closing that just squeezed my feet, despite getting a wide. I returned them.

I would recommend an additional insole with these shoes. After my 2nd time, I had knee and foot pain all day. Still keeping though since I can't find many shoes in a 10.5 width that actually fit well.

These are very odd shoes: there is no separate tongue, but a stretchknit fabric gusset instead, and the "laces" are decorative only: there is no way to tighten this shoe. So, given its generous fit, this is essentially a slip-on. Returning them.
