UGH. I have very narrow feet and was excited to see that LL Bean offers narrow in these waterproof boots. I put them on and could slide my feet around, so they don't work for me at all. They felt too wide and too big, so I am returning them.

These boots run extremely big. Im a size 10 so i ordered an 11 because they dont make half sizes. They were way to large so i exchanged for a 10. Still very large. Havent decided if im gonna keep them or not

The leather on the right boot felt like sandpaper and cut into my ankle at a really weird angle and ended up rubbing the skin raw on a relatively short walk. I ordered an 8 W and normally wear 8.5-9. Their sizing does run very large, but I knew that when I ordered. I think I just got a bad shoe bc LL Bean makes a good quality product. I’m going to exchange for the lined duck boot.

I have been a fan of Bean Boots for sometime and have several pairs. When my Better Half needed a new pair of boots we ordered these. Much to our surprise she could not get them on. The top was too narrow. We have no idea how the rest of the fit was . They have been returned. I am afraid that she has no confidence in LL Bean any more.

Twenty-six years ago, I purchased a pair of these boots. They used to come with the felt liner. I thought If I sized up, I could "re-create" them. Turns out one can't. If I had known that, I would have tried much harder to restore them. (Yes, they came with the lifetime warranty, but I figured LL.Bean deserved the money. Twenty six years is a LONG time for a pair of boots.)

I have always chosen Bean boots, but these were awful. I checked my last Bean boots, sizing same, now sure what happened. Yes they were hard to get into - instep narrow, but these last ones were painful to walk in or do chores. Half way through bailing hay onto a trailer, I had to remove boots, doing the last part of truck load in sock feet. Seems the heel is missing any padding/sewn leather pieces inside boot too pronounced - cutting into heels badly, top of foot taking skin off. Trying to compensate for discomfort - threw foot forward wearing boots, causing toe injuries after any work done in them. Not happy.

My wife wanted these boots for Christmas and picked out this specific pair (her mother ordered them for her for Christmas). We had both read a review or two about the leather/tongue scratching easily, but figured that was an outlier. After wearing her boots for ONE day, she was very disappointed when she took them off and noticed that the tongue was already scratched in several places (where the shoe laces rubbed the tongue).
She ordered a narrow and is pleased with that and sized down a half size like suggested. The size she ordered was perfect. She is disappointed that a $140 pair of boots has abrasions after wearing for just a few hours.

I was really excited to get these boots considering all the wonderful reviews, but I was very disappointed after wearing them all day yesterday. These are NOT comfortable, and rubbed against my ankle/leg. The insides are pretty raw and don't have much cushion or padding. I ended up just unlacing them halfway to get some relief, but was anxious to get them off. (Also, the laces are ridiculously short and stiff - very hard to tie.) I gave two stars because I love the way they look, but that is the only thing I'm happy with. I will most likely be returning. Might try one more day, but will be looking at other brands if I get something new. For this price, they should not be painful to wear.

I finally needed to replace my 20 year old LL Bean boots and was very excited to see that these came in narrow. While the foot bed is perfect the shaft is so narrow that it is nearly impossible to put these boots on with socks, I have a very narrow foot, and always have to buy AA or AAAA shoes when I can find them. The boots are very comfortable once on, but getting them on and off hurts my foot.

I owned Bean boots back in the early 70's; wore them out; changed lifestyle. Wanted them again; so saved my pennies and bought a new pair. They fit great (the narrow option was a plus)...once I got them onthe almost impossible part. Seems that the tongue on the right boot was concave near the mouth, and it took way too much effort to pull them on with one hand while trying to undamn the tongue so my foot would slip through and not push my socks so tight. (Thought I would literally yank out the tab on the back of the boot.) Tried breaking them several times in short spurts (hoping that putting them on often would soften, but don't think I'll live that long). A couple of nights I mink oiled just the tongue (I had already done the entire boot), stuffed the boot with towels to, hopefully, "retrain" but no positive result. Leather too stiff. Am sending them back. Still great boot, still recommend.

I've only had these boots for a couple of weeks and the soles are already coming apart. The fabric on the heel of the boot is ripped and has come apart from the rest of the shoe. In addition, they are NOT waterproof. From the very beginning, my feet have gotten wet the minute I step in any sort of puddle. My regular riding boots keep my feet warmer and dryer than my L.L.Bean boots do. I purchased these shoes because they were supposed to be great quality and I am incredibly disappointed with what I received.

Originally got an 8 online, as I read it runs large. The ones I got in the mail rubbed on the back of my heel when I walked. I took them into the L.L. Bean store, and the shoe guy said it looked like there was a defect in the heel area. So I tried another and tried a 9 as well. Couldn't decide between them and tried with different sock thicknesses. Ended up going with a 9. Tried it on at home again and kept noticing it rubbing my heel still. Not as badly as the first shoe, but quite noticeable. Ended up returning them and not getting another. I think I either need a half size or the heel needs to be shaped differently so my heels don't rub. Really wish they had worked. Oh well.

I just bought this 2 weeks ago for my daughter in college and she's complaining that the leather is already "peeling". Her roommate has a different style (still LL Bean) and her shoes look great. Going up in a few weeks and will take by the local store to discuss. Hoping that we can exchange for another pair (or opt for another style that hasn't had this problem) and the store has ideas on how to prevent for the future.

I typically wear a size 9/9.5 but I ordered a size 8 after reading the reviews that these boots are much, much too large. However, what I did not pay enough attention to were the reviews stating that there is no longer a tongue on these foots. Instead the boot is basically sewn closed with an awkward piece of leather. It's hard to get your foot in and out. It is NOT comfortable nor is it visually appealing. I am very disappointed in these, especially after all of the hype. Straight back to the store they go.

They are good sturdy boots but I am dissatisfied with the quality of mine... They seem a little too imperfectly handmade where it's not charming but rather disappointing. Would exchange but I don't have a store near me and it really sucks that return shipping is $7 for something I was hoping to love and not need to hassle with...

I bought these in hopes to use for the cold winters in MA. I tried them out when it was 15 degrees outside and within 15 minutes my toes were freezing in these boots with wool socks on. They're stylish and keep feet dry but don't buy them if you're expecting them to keep you warm

As much as i wanted to love these boots, after two years and barely wearing them i had to give up. I was not able to get my foot in comfortably without huffing and puffing and that was without a sock on. It became evident that i needed the tongue to not be attached to the rest of the upper for me to use them comfortably. Sadly i had to return. As for sizing, i did buy a 7 when i normally wear an 8, but the foot bed fit perfectly, I'm not sure that impacted the size of the leather upper. Alas, I bought the slip ons with shearling inside in hopes for a better experience! Also in LOVE with the rubber mocs, wear them constantly!!!

I went with the reviews and bought a size smaller than I normally do, so the length was perfect. I got them in narrows but overall width was still too wide. The foot bed was narrow enough but the part around the ankle and up the calf was too wide. I also didn't find them to be very comfortable.

I was so excited to get these, then so disappointed when they didn't fit , not even close and, I ordered a full size larger than what I wear.

bought for xmas for daughter -- never worn / took out of box and the metal eyelets are turning green already. Brought back to store and looked through others but all are the same. She wears her timberland boots daily, which are made in Dominican republic, and the metal pieces are bright and shiny.

These boots are attractive, as pictured. They seem to run true to size as long as you follow the sizing info. However when I put them on the leather part was so stiff, there was no way I could walk in them. Even with the thickest socks, the leather dug into my legs. I had duck boots years ago in college and I don't recall them being so uncomfortable. There wasn't any way I could break them in, my legs would have been rubbed raw. Returning.

I wanted to love these boots. I've been looking for a cold weather, water proof boot forever. However, after receiving these boots I put them on, which turned into an upper body workout, and then walked around in them and they were so stiff, that it was going to take forever to break them in and I just didn't want to wait that long. They are well constructed and I'm sure a good boot, but not for me.

Boot is a great color which was why I purchased it. Boot should be lined. It gets cold in Maine and boot does not leave enough room for any liner.

I really wanted to love these boots but they just kill my feet. Since I received them about 6 weeks ago, I have worn the boots about 7-8 times hoping that once broken in I would stop getting such awful blisters. However, no matter how thick of socks I wear my pinky toe is always completely rubbed raw or bleeding by the end of my work day. The size isn't an issue as this only happens on my right foot and they neither pinch nor are too small. Please try them on in a store and don't just order online like I did.
