Bought these for my husband for Christmas, he knew he was getting them so I gave them to him early since we had a snowstorm in the northeast, he ordered his regular size but they were too narrow but he said they were also very uncomfortable seemed this compared to his old boots. So we packed them up for a return, get a refund so he could look for a different pair. Well It took almost a month to get the refund. So we were a little unhappy about that and the product.

These boots were reasonably true to size however I expected them to be a little large so that thicker socks could be used with them. I wore them a couple of years to winter camp activities with my son. They were then in the closet for several years without use. I put them on this morning and wore them out shopping. The rubber between the sole and the upper leather although not visibly changed had deteriorated. The sole on the right shoe entirely detached from the boot. The connection between the rubber and the upper part also split open on both shoes So I guess that is a warning to plan on using them for a limited time frame because the rubber is not stable Good luck

Not the product that I expected.. 50 years ago, as a young boy the ll bean boots were the best thing going! For the price I paid for these I was not happy with the product. The gore Tex / Thinsulate lining is not what I expected... The boot is well built, but not worth the $200.00 price tag. Now I know why I switched to Red Wing Boots years ago! :(

Christmas 2018, received a size 13 D that was too wide, so I returned them the next day and ordered a 13 B (narrow), which came a couple days later ( we live in NH, so close to Maine). Tried the new ones on and was excited to use them that day with wet snowy rain and I'll be darned, the right toe pocket is mis-sewn leaving a buckle and very narrow toe pocket... unbearable! These don't seem like the same quality as my twelve year old bean boots. Will be returning yet another pair in the course of a week.

The Gore-Tex liner in these boots seem like something that was rushed through the design process. It's essentially a goretex sock that's poorly bonded to the inside of the boot. When you take the boot off, the liner wants to come out and you have to press it back in. The liner is not red like in the photo either, so not sure what this product is really intended to be? It seems like the liner should at least be adhered to the boot, but it is not, planning to return. Had been hoping for more with my first pair of bean boots.

Sadly the iconic L.L. Bean 8" Gore-Tex/Thinsulate boots didn't meet expectations. Sure, my feet are staying dry but warm - unfortunately, NO! I understand there's a flannel-lined version for additional $ but I'm not convinced that a thin layer of flannel will really improve the warmth factor.

I really want to like these boots. But I had to return them. One pair I got I had to return because the left boot fit me great. But I could not get my foot into the right boot. Once I got the replacement boots They did not fit me has well. I gave up trying to find a boot that works for me.

I purchased the LLBean boots based on the size recommendations - men's regular size 9 1/2 wide should purchase 9 wide. Could barely get my foot in the boot and it was too small overall - especially the width. I'll be returning.

I gave these to my son for Christmas. He LOVES them. He says they fit perfectly, are comfy and warm! They did not require any breaking in period. He is very particular about his outdoor gear so his approval is high praise indeed!

Don't like the way the tongue is put in the shoe, you can't lace them up well at all.

Have used Bean boots since I was a kid. Great comfort in both the insulated and non insulated boots. Last 8-10 years have noticed the stitching doesn't hold up well with wear(where the leather is stitched to the rubber) and boots leak(in the same area). Have used the great return policy a couple of times for this reason and the replacement boots(2 times) have ripped out with normal wear(within 6-10 months). On my 3rd pair and the stitching on those are pulling out and leaking. Not sure what has changed but use to be able to wear them for 3+ years. I must say Bean's does have a great return policy and very good customer service with issues.

First attempt at wearing my new Bean boots was a failure of the pull strap loop on the back of one boot. Returning to Freeport store today for repair or replacement. I do prefer repair, as I've already prepped the leather portion of these boots for long life and protection from moisture.

I've had B width 8" goretex lined Bean boots for years and now they cannot be replaced! LL Bean has changed so much over the years, its no wonder that I buy very little there.

Warm boots but there's too much material along the sides of the boot. It makes them look clunky and poorly constructed. Perhaps I just got a bad pair, but given my experience I can't recommend them.

The placement of the lacing grommets at the top prevents one from tightening the closure sufficiently to prevent snow, leaves, insects, etc from going down inside boot. The curved placement of lacing grommets is not like original design used in 1960s when I got my first pair which lasted 20 years. Will have to return them. Otherwise appears well made and true to size. Too bad, I loved the original.

I usually wear size 8 sneakers for most big brands. I bought size 7M for these boots. They are too big still (length wise). There's enough space that my feet can move back and forth (even with thick Merino wool socks). Unfortunately no size 6.5 or 6 exists. Size 7 boots from other brands fits well for me. Not LL bean boots. The quality of the boot is great, however. I would certainly buy/use this product but sizing unfortunately doesn't work well with my feet.

I solely based my purchase on the fact that these boots said they were waterproof and they are not. I work at an ice skating arena and they do get wet.

I do wear an 8. This boot must have been mislabeled or poorly made. It was too long and too narrow. I wear the same size in 4 other brands so it's not me.

I had another pair of LL Bean boots with the Thinsulate liner for years and were great. The liner in these boots is absolute c r a p. Not sewn all the way in and putting them on and off is a huge hassle. When they are on the liner feels like it's not in place and when you take them off the liner looks like it wants to turn itself inside out. $200 and you don't get a fully sewn in liner? Ridiculous.

I was completely upset with the item that arrived Men's L.L.Bean Boots, 8" Gore-Tex/Thinsulate. The entire liner and insole of the boot was lifted and bumpy. Although there was an inspection paper in the box, this pair was not inspected. I returned them to the store in Burlington, MA. The associate was not as disappointed with the inside quality as I was. I kept making sure that he'd mark them as damaged. I was not offered another pair or any compensation for the poor product. We had purchased the same boot for my daughter in the women's section from the store a month earlier and there was no problem with her boots.

I have a pair of these in wide that I bought after hearing and reading many good things about Bean boots. The Bean boot has quite a long and good history and so I wanted to have a pair that was supposed to be not only reliable but had a good reputation. I purchased my pair of these Goretex/Thinsulate Bean Boots in the Fall of 2014 and they have had only moderate use, like going to the grocery store and a few months working retail. Sadly I recently discovered that they were smelling bad and also noticed that my foot was wet after coming home from the store. I found that odd and when investigating the boots I found when I pulled the NON DETACHABLE liners out that there are tiny leaks where two gold rivets or staples are located in the middle of the bottom of the insides of each of the boots. Turning the boot over I see that the brown Bean logo is in that area so I'm assuming that they're attached? Anyway, they're letting water in at those rivets. Other than that these boots look great and no other issues. Secondly, the non detachable liner! Who's idea was that?! The liner does not detach so over time the boot liners will start to smell. It's like re wearing a sock over and again. It's going to collect odor. I thought I could just pull out the liner so I could wash it but nope! It's attached to the boot! I'd rather be able to wash the liners than repeatedly cover it with chemical odor spray. I know that Bean used to sell Bean boot liners that could be taken out of the boot and they're not currently available. For the sake of non smelly feet please, Bean, make the liners detachable as well as washable so that people can enjoy their Bean boots! Thirdly , the Bean boot rubber insole is not washable and retains odor. What also makes me sad is that these insoles make for THE most comfortable pair of footwear I've ever worn in my life and I'm not exaggerating! I have a couple pair of Danskos and when it comes to comfort these insoles knock the Danskos out of the water! The Bean insoles in these boots contributed to painless work days and just comfy feet all day long! I NEVER came home at the end of the day when working retail, meaning eight hour shifts, with aching feet. Never ! It was great! So with the leaking, the foot odor trapped in the boot insoles and liner and the not being able to remove the liner to clean it or being able to remove odor from the insoles, I have to return them. I am NOT happy about this because Bean Boots , again, have such a great reputation and I was trusting in that and the pair I have failed.

Had to return these boots. Ordered down a size as suggested by Llbean but they were way to small. The gortex lining was all scrunched up inside - honestly can't see how anyone could wear them.

I had owned a pair of the traditional boots from llbean for years and they were great. These new ones with thinsulate are significantly less warm. Since insulation value depends on thickness, and this thinsulate is thin, inadequate insulation occurs. My feet were always cold in these. I miss the boots with the removable and warm inserts.
