I love my new coat. It is warm, lightweight and comfortable.

I walk a mile 1/2 every morning on a Marina Boardwalk along Long Island Great South Bay - this coat is perfect for my walk - I wear a sweater underneath, put up my hood up over my earmuffs and I am warn and comfortable during my walk - great coat - light enough to be comfortable but warm enough to walk along the water -

I bought this coat last winter and liked it so much, I wore it almost every day. Comfortable fit, very warm, windproof, with a sweater underneath, I'm toasty on the coldest days.

I LOVE this coat.Even if I wanted to I could not induce myself at this point to wear a wool coat because this is so much warmer and does not itch.The new green replaces my old mariner blue which I just wore all the time everywhere and the time had come for a new color.This is a great neutral green you can wear with scarfes of different colors.Its has very little yellow undertone, which is great.Large fit well for me at 5'4" and 158 lbs about..You will love it too...

I purchased the old style (no hood, and slightly heavier fabric) about 3 years ago and loved it. However, as several owners have stated, the fabric can tear easily and mine did leaving down floating around at times. However, all things considered, this is my absolute favorite coat ever! It fits well, is so lightweight that I can't believe it keeps me warm even on frigid, wintry days, and now has a hood so it's the perfect coat for me! I continued to wear my other one, but had my company name embroidered on it so decided to purchase one without that. Would buy over again in another color, too.

This coat is nice in length and so far it seems it will be plenty warm. I have the jacket in the 850 down and it is very warm. Bought this one for the longer length. Color is pretty (Marine Blue)

I have been looking for a winter coat for months. This LL Bean Coat is going to be perfect. Light weight but very warm in cold weather. I ordered the green and have received so many compliments. Price is perfect and fits beautifully.

This was purchased for my wife and she loves it. It packs itself into its own pocket for easy travel. She is threatening to get rid of all other coats and use this one exclusively. She spends time in Minneapolis as part of her travels and it's kept her warm all winter. Definitely recommend the product.

I waited for a long time before buying a longer coat, I've always worn jackets for my outdoor walking and errands. I didn't know if I would like the adjustment, possible bulk and weight plus I was a bit put off by cost. Having always worn goose down I knew that part of my decision would be right. After using it for several months, I cannot say enough about this wonderful coat. I walk my dogs year round in some pretty chilly weather that involves snow and wind. The hood is spectacular and I've never been a hood person. It's loose enough around my head and face to not feel constricted and blocks the wind amazingly well, it's pretty easy on my hair too, not all flattened down after using it for a few hours. The extra warmth it provides on my neck and around my face makes me feel cozy and warm no matter the chill. The longer length provides extra warmth on my legs and wind block but never causes any problems of feeling constricted due to the double zipper which offers adjustment. If I want a little extra warmth, it accommodates a light or mid-weight fleece very well. I bought the dark plum which is absolutely stunning in color. Now when I wear one of my jackets, I almost feel chilly since using this coat so much. Light as a feather in weight, warm, comfortable and a great color. Can't go wrong on this one.

This jacket is warm, easy to pack, lightweight, but warm. So many hidden pockets and well made.

Great fit, comfortable, cozy, and most of all warm. Love that it comes in petite sizes, the small fit well.

So light weight and two-way zipper works smoothly. Protects on cold windy dog walks on the bay. Allows plenty of room for bulky sweaters and still looks trim.

We've gotten some early cold weather (in the 20s in the morning) yet I have been comfortable. I was also comfortable when the temperatures were in the 40s I ordered a size that would allow me to have a heavy sweater or multiple thin layers underneath. I love the 2 outside and 2 inside pockets. I can't think of anything I would want to change in the design. THANK YOU for the great design, LL Bean!

This coat is light as a feather, but sooooo warm! I love the coziness without the bulk. Fits true to size and is very flattering.

Terrific winter coat! Light as a feather, comfy with a pima turtle neck, medium or heavy weight sweater, ample room for layers without being tight or baggy. The arms are a good length, falling below wrist. Cuffs are comfortably snug without binding or sliding up. Length is just above knees and keeps backside toasty warm. Hem zipper allows driving or biking with ease. Hood is thoughtfully designed and keeps ears and neck well covered. No plastic threads or sharp corners to irritate sensitive skin. Inside storage pockets - what a treat! Someone really thought about the design of this coat. Ready for any occasion. Very nice to snuggle under on a long flight or road trip. Wouldn't hesitate to give as a gift.

Love the coat. Bought petite by mistake; no problem exchanging it for medium. So light weight, yet very warm. Love the way the hood fits, not overly big like some coats.

I love this coat. I've had it for 2 winters and it is holding up great. It is quite warm but very lightweight.

- Coat is light weight and warm with no need of heave inner layers SOME SUGGESTIONS: - zippers on side seams would make sitting morn comfortable - snap at neck/collar would help keep hood on head and add warm - ribbed cuffs under cuff shell would make sleeves more wind- proof All in all an excellent value as expected from llbean

I ordered this coat to replace one that was getting older and less warm. This one is great. It really is quite warm since it's an 850 fill. It runs a little big so there's extra room, which was great for me. LLBean tends to be a little boxy in the shoulder and chest area for me and this coat is like that too but seems to fit fine and will allow for layering underneath as needed. Looking forward to many winters kept warm by this coat!

I have great difficulty finding coats that fit, feel good & look good so despite a couple of problems, I'm giving this coat a five star rating which is something I rarely do. It's extremely lightweight, comfortable & surprisingly warm. It zips/unzips easily; being able to unzip the bottom half while driving is a nice feature. Sleeves are a bit long for me, but the elastic "cuff" tucks the extra fabric out of sight. The cut is flattering & fits well except for the shoulders being too snug for bulky sweaters. Shoulder room is fine with regular thickness sweaters and tops. I haven't worn the coat under extreme weather conditions for extended periods, but it has been great during routine wear/chores in winter weather including snow, high wind and below freezing temps. I highly recommend this ultra light 850 coat. I also commend L.L. Bean for including height, weight & size purchased in reviews which helps tremendously in making better purchase decisions. I haven't seen this feature offered in reviews from other companies.

A planned trip to Iceland and, from there, to England for hikes in the North meant I needed to buy a new jacket. I wanted something warm, packable (we pack very light when traveling) and water resistant. After searching without much luck in stores, an online search showed me several jackets that seemed to fit the need. This was the second jacket I ordered and tried (the first from a different company), and I immediately knew I'd found my coat. It is lighter than I imagined it would be, and feels very soft and plush. I love how it fits - I often find jackets that fit nicely in the shoulders and chest are tighter than I'd like in the hips; that wasn't the case with this one, though it does hug the hips. I got the petite, which I think helped as the ins and outs of my body aligned where they were expected to. After much deliberation about color, I chose the blue and I'm so glad I did. I have so many black items in my closet, and live in a place where the cold, dark winter is really dark (Oregon) and a little color is always appreciated. The blue is a rich, subdued hue and I've received lots of compliments on it. Although I haven't yet had the chance to pack and travel with this jacket, I've trialed sizing it down to fit into my travel gear and it's easy to compress and then to shake out. One element I don't think much about is the hood on jackets. I've never found one that works well and doesn't either leave the front part of my head uncovered, slip off at will, or cinch up so tightly my face looks like a pale bubble peeking out. This hood is amazingly sized and attached in a way to provide lots of cover and staying power. I will leave the umbrella behind and rely on my hood to keep me dry. I'm not alone in loving this jacket, and earlier reviews helped convince me to try it. They were not wrong! I strongly recommend it, too.

Perfect for temps hovering in the 20s-30s, and plenty of room for layering underneath. I tend to run hot so this is a great shell for me.

The more I wear this coat the more I like it. The comfort and lightweight warmth and style are just what I was looking for. I ordered the Dark Plum which is more a cranberry color than a purplish plum color but still a good color for me. I would even buy this coat again in another color.
