Was much larger than expected, even though I've worn this size before. Remember that 'free shipping' with this compnay does NOT include return shipping, so best case you'll loose $6.50 if you have to return.

This medium size shirt was more like a large size. My husband has worn medium all his life and was swamped by this shirt. I had to return it at my own expense.

I used to like these shirts but this time around the fabric pilled up and got rough in 3-4 washings. I wonder if these can't handle high efficiency washers where there is a lot more abrasive contact between items because of less water use. It also faded a bit more than I'd expect this quickly. I won't buy again.

I would not say that I am a big purchaser of bean clothing but have purchased many items over the years and all have been of superior quality including the flannel shirts. This shirt is not like those items. The shirt on the first washing went from being a high quality flannel shirt to almost like fleece with "nubs" all over the shirt. I've never seen the lint screen in the dryer this full after drying any item. Not sure what has happened, but quality control failed on this one.

After one wearing the shirt came out of the dryer looking like a rag. Absolutely not the quality I expect from LLBEAN.
And, 2 other BEAN shirts in the same load, including a Bean Wicked Good Plaid, looked their usual good - perfect.

Bought four size Tall Medium for my 6'5", 175 lb. son. Started off great: good fit, soft material, washed and dried beautifully. During the course of one year, the material became scratchy and shrunk a HUGE amount. Unwearable. I will never buy these again.

Shirt shrunk several inches in length. Button fell off. Fabric pills.
Not the LL bean I used to know.

Have owned several llbean flannel shirts in the past. Always very satisfied with the shirts. I'm still wearing most of them. Received this shirt in Grey Stewart for Christmas. No comparison to previous flannel shirts in quality. The material quality of this shirt is what I would expect from Kmart. Construction and fit are good, but material quality is poor. Also, it wrinkles like crazy.

LLbean uses nice material but the styling is awful. Two XL men could fit in this!

I have been an L L Bean customer a long time and I don't intend to stop now. The quality of your products have always been top notch, however, I recently ordered 2 flannel shirts catalog KL228061. I have always ordered "large" size regular fit when ordering shirts or jackets and had no problems. I know this sounds hoaky, but when I tried the shirts on, I thought my arms had shrunk at least 2 inches. Sure enough, I matched them to some shirts I have, and the arms on these new shirts are at least 2" longer. Not a very comfortable shirt to wear.

I'm on my second shirt. Send the first one back after one wash due to piling. Second shirt piled just as quickly. Great feel new, if I never had to wash it I would be thrilled with the feel. But face the fact that it is only going to feel really good once. Right out of the bag.

Bought a couple of these Scotch Plaid Flannel shirts about fifteen years ago and they still look good to this day. Tremendous quality and the colors still hold up. Thought I might try a new color and bought one last week. Guess what? Extreme piling and the material is very fuzzy after washing and drying. Definitely not Portuguese flannel that I came to know. Note to LLBean Corporate Buyer Department in your next weekly corporate meeting : LISTEN to your customers and for goodness sake change your supplier(s) before one your your best selling shirts go down hill!! I know LLBean has a very good return policy but please spare me the refund/return details which I am very well aware of. All in all, a true disappointment from a 'great' company.

I thought this would be as good as the LL Bean Wicked Good Flannel shirts I bought previously. Unfortunately it wasn't. It's thinner, doesn't hold its shape well, and started pilling after the first wash. Thanks to LL Bean's super customer satisfaction policy these are going back.

Made with extremely thin, light material. Not what I would consider a traditional flannel shirt. Thickness of the material is similar to a men's dress shirt or a woman's blouse. Very poor quality.

While I generally love LLBean shirts, this one has sleeves that are way too long. Not even close to what a medium sleeve length should be. Other customers have also complained about this. I hope someone at LLBean reads this and takes corrective action. It is annoying to have to pay $6.50 to return a shirt that is obviously designed incorrectly.

This is my 3rd purchase of a Scotch Plaid Flannel and the fabric material changed since a year ago and not for the better. The first two shirts had a good clean look to them but the Black Watch shirt did not match the quality of the first two.
Upon receiving the shirt, I saw that it was definitely fuzzier than the previous two and was almost pre-pilling. I had hoped that a few washes would fix it but it is now pilling and catches lint and pet hair with ease. I would only wear this under a sweater if at all.
Please go back to previous supplier. Frustrated in PA.

I purchased this shirt because I liked the tartan...Stewart.
Looked all right just out of the package. Then I noticed that seams inside the pocket were not finished. The edges of seams are raw...just waiting to unravel. After one washing I had threads hanging. After just five wearings...and washing in cold water on gentle cycle... the material is fuzzy and the tartan plaid is much more blurred. I agree with the reviewer who has written that this is not Portuguese flannel, which is very high quality.
This shirt is already starting to look like it belongs in the rag pile...and it is not yet two months old. Piece of junk. I say, don't buy it.

It's not depicted in the catalog picture, but this shirt (in the regular fit) comes with an extra tag sewn in the upper collar that is very scratchy and annoying. I stopped wearing the shirts because of it.

$39.95 flannel shirt no where near same quality as shirts purchased from LLB 20 years ago. Paid less back then and got a shirt that has lasted 20 years and is a nice indestructible heavy flannel. Todays shirt is lightweight and looks to be the same quality as what I can purchase at a big box store for less than half the price. Don't mind paying for quality but LLB really missed the mark on this shirt.

I was disappointed that I did not receive a bill or a sticker in case I did not like the shirt.
I was very pleased that the wear house transferred me to the Freeport store so that I could get the product since the wear house was out.

I am a loyal and long-time LL Bean customer. However, this flannel shirt is not what is advertised. The material feels great out of the bag, but it is rough after a single washing. It feels more like wool than like cotton. The material is also very thin -- not warm at all. The tag near the collar say that the shirt is made in El Salvador. The item number on the tag is 228061 so I'm sure I'm not confusing this with a different shirt.
I have an old LL Bean flannel shirt that is fantastic -- extremely soft, warm, wonderful. That's what this shirt should be. I generally love LL Bean but something has gone wrong here.

Bought this shirt in a Med Tall and loved the feel and fit of the shirt until it was washed. The directions say it could be washed and dried on low. We followed the directions and the shirt sleeves shrunk at least 2 inches. We are disappointed and will be returning the shirt.

I've always been satisfied with purchases from L.L.Bean...but these shirts were an embarrassment to give as gifts. One went to a family member in New Mexico..was there when received for Christmas and it was all wrinkled...not from package wrinkles, but overall. Looked like something that had been slept in. Since it was a gift, the packaging was gone...he would have returned it, but way too much bother.
The 2nd one was for my husband, and that wasn't any better. Would have hesitated even wearing them in public.
