The coloring of this shirt is very nice. We do feel the flannel could be thicker. It is not overly thick but is soft. We used our LL Bean coupons to purchase so we will keep it. If we had paid full price we may have considered returning it.

My husband wore this shirt before I washed it and it pilled very badly. Even after being washed , I found flannel clinging to other apparel.
Very generous cut. I ordered an X-Large and could have gotten a Large for a better fit. Overall just ok.

This shirt is absurdly large. I have 4 other shirts that are the same size and item that fit fine, I've noticed over the last few years the most consistent thing about Llbean clothing is very inconsistent sizing. The shirt was a large traditional fit and the neck measured 18 inches, I was able to get a Trail Medel Vest underneath it and button it up, So quality control needs some attention. Returned.

Been hand washing since December. First time in a washing machine and it shredded at the collar. Had problems with the shirts pilling in the past and was told by customer service to hand wash. Lesson learned I suppose?

Unlike other flannel I've bought from LLBean, this one doesn't seem to be of high quality. Usually after a few washings, flannel is softer. This is the opposite... pilled and seems very itchy. The main reason I bought it was that it was described as the "softest" flannel you have. I'd say it's the opposite.

Nice shirt- but was not the color shown in the ad. So, I sent it back-if it was the right color I would have keep it!

I've been buying these nice Scotch plaid tartan flannel shirts and/or receiving them for Christmas for many years and I have most of the patterns. In fact, these are about the only shirts I wear from October through April. Sadly, in the past several years I've noticed that the fabrics have become progressively thinner, but not in all patterns. For example, the Blue MacKellar fabric is noticeably thinner than the Antique Dress Stewart fabric, both from Christmas 2024. This past Christmas of 2025 I received a shirt in the Bean of Freeport Natural pattern and was delighted with how thick and soft and comfortable it was, right out of the package! After the first washing though, I could hardly believe it was the same shirt. It was no longer thick and soft. The material looked like the outer layer of brushed flannel had "congealed" into millions of very tiny "pills" and the fabric, no longer soft, somehow looked "dingy," no longer a crisp, bright cream color, yet not dirty. This same thing happened to a couple of other new-patterns of Scotch plaid tartan shirts from two years ago but it wasn't quite as noticeable because they were a bit darker in color and of a thinner fabric to begin with. I don't understand why there is so much inconsistency in the quality of these nice shirts, but I have noticed a similar problem with the clothing of another well-known company. So many of their men's styles have such inconsistency of quality and size that I no longer do business with that company. I wonder if L.L.Bean has different companies making different patterns of the same shirt. How else can you account for such inconsistency of quality??? By the way, I also received the same Scotch plaid shirt purchased at the same time (for Christmas 2025) but in the Royal Stewart pattern, and it was an even thicker fabric! It has been washed three times, although not with the Bean of Freeport Natural shirt, and it looks and feels almost like new!!

The fabric is very nice, but the shirt was cut too generously.

Please return the gauntlet button. Made the shirt look good with the sleeve partially rolled up. Not the cost saving measure I would have chosen.

Willing to pay Bean high prices for Bean high quality. I've bought & worn these Bean plaid wool shirts for years. Wanted a replacement for my Black Watch shirt and was disappointed to see Bean doesn't offer that pattern anymore. Whaaa? One of the most popular, traditional plaids ever? Then decided to buy this, to replace another in Vintage Tartan that I've had for years, which is finally wearing out at the elbows. The replacement was clearly from a different manufacturer. The pattern was not as sharp and crisp, and the colors were a bit off from my old one. Looked like a cheap, blurry fake compared a real photo. I kept the replacement but then also spent $35 at a tailor to have elbow patches sewn on the old one; it will last more years, and that's less than half the price of a poor-quality replacement.
Bring back the Black Watch pattern! Bring back the quality of the former Vintage Tartan!

Unfortunately, the shirt body was unusually large, so it had to go back. I've purchased these shirts before, without any issue. I am hoping that the next size down will work.

Surprised that after the very first wash, having never worn the shirt, it came out with noticeable pilling. It looks worse than other LLBean flannel shirts hanging in my closet for years. Maybe a one off with this specific fabric. But not the same quality as my other five flannels from LL Bean. Pretty surprised and disappointed

There weren't any of this color in the store so I had to order one.
When I tried it on it did not fit at all. The arms were down to my knuckles, the shoulders were a couple of inches past my shoulders, the upper shirt sleeves were voluminous!
I have 4-5 flannel shirts, the same size, supposedly the same shirt by the item number.
Disappointing, to say the least from a long, long, long time customer.

Shirt too large. Sleeves too long for the normal extra large. He's 6'2". Seems odd.

While Christmas shopping for my son, who is a huge fan of LL Bean flannels, I was disappointed in the quality of the fabric. They are not nearly as thick as they used to be. Bring back the LL Bean quality I expect and we'll be back

I have ordered three of your flannel shirts this month and I'm very disappointed in all three of them. I ordered them because in the adds they were bright and colorful. In truth they were not. I first ordered two shirts, one in Washed Buckanan and one in Graham of Menteith. The colors are not anywhere as bright as in the ads. They look like they are very washed out and blend together. I recently ordered one of the Apple Cinnamon pattern hoping it would be more like it looked in the ad. It doesn't, it too is not as bright and colorful as depicted. Very disappointed. I will keep what I ordered because I needed new shirts but don't think I will ever order from your company again.

The old school 'open collar' flannel shirts that Bean used to sell were a much better feel and look. Also the old school, pearl white buttons just felt (and looked) real. Not a cost effective substitute.

Love LL Bean stuff, but this shirt was tight in the torso, tight in the shoulders and long in the arms. Not made for folks with broad shoulders. Quality was great and the shirt was the nice kind of soft, but sadly was ill-fitting.

Recently purchased this shirt for my husband and brother-in-law. The flannel is really thin and is pilling. I have purchased dozens of these shirts, as they are the only shirts my husband has worn for years. Really disappointed with the quality.

Apparently "regular fit" means you are very overweight. The medium tall swallowed my 6'2 average build husband. Shirt itself is beautiful but I have no confidence in the cut so won't be exchanging, just returning.

I've been buying LLBean flannel shirts for at least 15 years, and all of them are in really good shape, a little shrinkage, a little pilling for the oldest - except the ones offered in the 24/25 season. I have two of those, and the fabric is more pilled than any of the others. Nice plaids and fit, but there is not the same quality of flannel. I can see why they were offered at a cheaper price than previously. I won't be purchasing any more like those.

Returned it because of cheap construction. Plaids were so obviously unmatched it looked like something from a discount store. Where is quality control?

A little disappointed with the last men's plaid flannel shirts. My husband had 3 of these plaid shirts & they are wonderful. These last 2 he got seem to have an abundance of "pills" after washing (the previous ones never did). We were disappointed. The material just doesn't feel the same as his other LL Bean flannel shirts!

I bought my elderly father two flannel shirts for Christmas, soon after second and third washing's, these shirts were noticeably and pilling. We have been buying these flannel shirts for many years and the fabric quality was always great. His old shirts are in better condition than these recently purchased ones. It's unfortunate because for the money the quality is no longer what one expects from LL Bean.
