Wanted this for rain and sun protection. The brim flips up in the direction of the prevailing wind. More than 5mph of wind will cause this problem. Rain usually comes with some wind, and then you will have a wet face or neck. In principle, a light, packable hat with a wide brim is a great idea. But the brim is far too flexible and you will spend a breezy day pulling it down

I grew up with an OR Seattle Sombrero stuck to my head and wore it on every adventure where the rain showed face. Sadly this new hat, while waterproof, breathable, and lighter weight than the original, is useless as soon as the wind blows. The brim of the hat bends back and plasters against your skull at the slightest gust, which means you're basically wearing a waterproof skull cap. My raincoat hood is better use at that point. Can I still buy the old style that could handle wind?

Stop giving in to others' political narratives! Bring back the official name of this legendary hat: SEATTLE SOMBRERO. Long live the SEATTLE SOMBRERO!

My new hat is terrific! I like the color as well as the generous fit, which allows me to wear a stretchy black hat under it, covering my ears. And the brim is awesome - wide and super protective. My glasses are not spotted with rain! Thank you!

I wear a 7 and 3/4 size hat and normally have trouble getting a hat that fits. This one fits perfectly over my head/hair (female). Great for golf when it is raining because the brim is wide enough that it doesn't drip on your grip when you address the ball, or run down your back when you lean over.

Amazing hat for rain, and it's super fun and iconic to wear. my kids think the canoe can only go fast when i have the tabs of the hat velcroed up in "fast mode". there's just so many ways to wear this hat! your friends will all be amazed when you walk into a room with this hat on and quickly demonstrate just how many ways you can wear this piece of haute fashion!

This hat has survived backpacking and it was tied to my backpack. It definitely too a beating and still looks great. My only strong preference is for more SOLID COLORS of this hat. The two tone look is super dorky and I got stuck with buying the all blue color. More tones please? The khaki neutral tone is a standard for hiking hats. Why not have a normal color? Some bright colors are fine as well. Just solid preferred.

BRING BACK THE OLD NAME!!! I LOVE this hat and don't appreciate the recent name change. You have to be kidding me! This has been and always will be the SEATTTLE SOMBRERO. Very disappointed in what I'm certain was a reactionary decision.

Brim keeps rain off of face and neck. Gore Tex keeps hat from becoming a soggy mess.

Feels good. You could add more comfort with a velcro or string tightener around the head. Im not quite a large size, and not medium. Pretty pricey for a bit of a sloppy fit.

Great hat - warm and weatherproof. So much better than having to wear a hood!

These my the number one head gear. I have had several of them for decades and give them out as gifts I use them for work and recreation. I've used mine all over the world. I've used them to hike and climb in all conditions. They have a wide brim and complete 360 visibility. Thank you

My dad had one of these when I was a kid and I always loved it, but it was too big for my tiny head. The small size fits my tiny head and is very snuggly with the soft inside, but not too hot and works in the summer too. I especially like that the Velcro strips can make it into a cowboy hat, a pirate hat, or a musketeer hat and that it blocks the rain so well. It is great for adventures in the wild outback!!!

We love these rain hats so much we have three. They stand up well to even our torrential downpours in southeast Alaska. The brim is wide enough to give you solid protection even in moderate wind. Definitely worth the money.

My friend has one and I decided to get a matching one. My friends was a large and it fit perfect . Snug and perfect for kayaking especially when breezy. Also nice feature was that the chin strap could be fed thru the back like a pony tail out of the way. I was disappointed to see that there is no longer a velcro adjuster or any adjuster similar to most ball caps and there was no loop to feed the chin strap through. Without an adjuster a large is a tad big and if it didn't have a chin strap i would have returned it. Great hat and I will still keep it and recommend it .

Great materials and craftmanship that should stand the test of time, unlike cheaper substitutes.

I bought this hat for my thruhike this year of the 864 km Scottish National Trail (which goes the length of rainy Scotland,) as I figured that I'd be far better off ventilation as well as hearing-wise with a rain hat then with using the hood of my rain jacket. I was right! This thing really helped keep me from overheating as I trudged through multiple rain storms, some of which were pretty nasty. It did a really good job of keeping the rain off of my head in what is surely one of the soggiest countries on Earth. Great hat! The only thing I wished for was ear coverage when it was really rainy-windy, but I made do by holding one side of the brim down to block the spindrift haha. This hat additionally helped keep me warm when I was feeling cold from Scotland asserting itself so all in all it was an awesome purchase. I chose the yellow because I figured I'd need some cheer on driech days and it reminded me comfortingly of Curious George. It was also nicely visible.

I had my O.R. rain hat (blue with black trim) for 30 years and used it all the time here in wet Western Washington...until my car was stolen and my "Seattle Sombrero" along with it. The car was recovered, somewhat worse for wear, but all contents, including my rain hat, were gone. My hat was purchased at a different well-known outdoor gear store, but they are no longer stocking the brand. So, I intend to purchase the replacement from the manufacturer. I expect my new hat to last at least as long as the one I lost.

I've worn this a couple of times already and really like it. I like how it fits - not too loose or tight - and love that you can secure it with the strings that hang in front (it's currently pretty windy here so definitely need to use that feature). It doesn't make my head too warm. The size of the brim is great for keeping the sun off my face. I love that you can velcro the sides up as needed. And best of all it's goretex so when I hike in the rain my head should stay dry.
