OK, for those of you trying to replace your Old Skool Pros, this is probably the best you can do. These are similar to the Old Skool Pro model that seems to be no longer available. The "Skate Old Skool" are NOT exactly the same. For some reason Vans monkeyed with the design of the shoe a little and it's not quite as comfortable. It feels slightly less roomy/more narrow in my normal size (I've been wearing 11.5 in this model for at least 5 years). Not enough to size up though. I think the biggest difference is that they added a weird elastic band inside of the shoe to hold the tongue in place and maybe to allow people to wear the shoe without laces or untied? I don't understand Vans had to mess around with a good design that is literally called "OLD SKOOL". Also, the sole of the shoe no longer says "pro lite construction" and there are some minor differences in the quality of the fabric at the top of the shoe (less good overall). I'll still get more of these, but I'm a little disappointed that I have to compromise on what used to be my favorite shoe.

Be specific about your likes and dislikes. How was the fit and size? What does the material feel like? How awesome (or not) do you feel wearing them?

Why does Vans have to mess with the insoles? Order a half size bigger if you want to keep the popcush insoles. I had to take them out and insert a normal shoes insoles to make them better fir. I think Vans simply added/redesigned the insole without considering the size adjustment. The shoes comes with black laces too. Please don’t keep “improving” the product without through research.

The shoes fit great and are very comfortable. My only “disappointment” was that the gum color was not true to photos online. The gum color was darker than the normal gum color. Not Zappos vault. More of vans vault. They’re supposed to be that color too. Mine were Not damaged or anything. It’s just the photos online suggested a more tan gum then a dark brownish gum color.

Was unsure about the updated version of my absolute favorite shoe. Loved this shoe when it was called old school pro. This version is very well made and the updated insole is a nice upgrade. Definitely more cushion than the previous version. The new dura cap is a bit too shiny for my taste but hopefully that will dull after I wear them and abuse them. Overall these look to be a well built shoe that will stand up to use and abuse. I wore a 10 in pro but wear a 10.5 in these new ones, I’m assuming that is due to the new insole.

Size was accurate compared to my last pair of Van's. These are pretty warm inside, a bit too toasty on an 80 degree day.

Love the color. It looks awesome! The skate shoe is really hard. I am sure it is great for skateboarding but not good otherwise. I am shipping back immediately and found a pair of Old Skools in the same color scheme and I love them. I also tried the Comfy Cush version and the padding and heel was great but the Comfy Cush shoe becomes more narrow towards you move towards the toes and was too tight. I love my Vans and have numerous pairs of them. Too bad Vans does have more styles in the Deluxe version. Every pair of Vans DX I own are amazing! Hope this helps anyone thinking about the Vans Skate and Comfy Cush!
