Just returned from a hiking trip in Acadia National Park. Lots of sheer granite slabs but these shoes performed great. Sturdy and very comfortable. Typically I buy Merrell but these are much more comfortable and not as hot.

My old tennis beaten feet can only wear the hedgehog. I must be on pair 25.

Love these shoes this is my second pair. Being waterproof is great working outside in wet grass or morning dew.

These are my new favorite shoes. They are super supportive, amazingly comfortable and about half the weight of my old sneakers. Great for wearing around town or for short day hikes.

I love these shoes even though they didn't last as long as I'd like. I'm not sure what the designers had in mind but I doubt they intended them to be used as hard as I've put them through. My first pair developed cracks in the upper material, same as reported by others and although I can still wear them I decided two years was an acceptable life-span for work shoes. My 2nd pair has arrived and the fit and comfort is just as good as the first pair so I'm a happy camper.

These were for my husband, and he really likes them. He wanted to try this kind because they have the Vibram soles, and he has had similar North Face shoes without that feature which have worn down too quickly.

Keen, Merrell

As reviewed by others, this shoe does run large. They were comfortable but heavier than I want for the hiking I do.

These feel like well made made solid shoe. Really tried to convince myself that they fit. I typically wear Merrell size 9. (but that's another story) These were just a tad tight in the toe box. Would have developed pinky toe rub. I tried the 9.5, but just too long in the toe. So, if you have long narrow foot, this my be the shoe for you.

Very slightly narrower than expected. But, this is a very comfortable shoe for urban walking. I would like a stiffer sole. But, that is a common lament for me about shoes.

I've worn North Face Hedgehog's for years before making my most recent purchase of the new Hedgehof FUTURELIGHT. I'm a big guy 6'2, 220) and the old Hedgehog versions were ideal for my needs. I even bought more than one at a time and alternated wearing them on my trips into the mountains. This new lightweight version is comfortable but more like a running shoe than a sturdy hiking shoe. It is lightweight and comfortable for walking on sidewalks and paved roads or everyday use around town. I really can't see any size, shape or person that could actually use this as a hiker unless it is on paved trails before heading off road into the less traveled areas.

Lack of quality control doomed these shoes to failure. The contour of the insoles on the left and right shoes were markedly different; left shoe fit well, right shoe had an "arch support' located at the heel of the insole. I need a shoe with a low, or preferably no, arch support. If the insole of the right shoe matched that of the left shoe, this would have been an acceptable pair of shoes. Returned for refund; may try these again in future pending implementation of QC.

Seems to be a well-made hiker geared toward a wider foot. They do not offer the same support as Oboz does for narrower feet, and for those looking for a snug/supportive fit. I had to mail them back, but they are worth considering for the correct type of foot.

I finally got around the trying out the Hedgehog Futurelight on a week of hiking in mixed weather and terrain between 2200m-4000m. The shoes fit comfortably for my feet. Although the shoes doe relax a bit requiring tighter lacing, it hasn't been necessary to go down half size from normal. The MAJOR complaint I have is that the shoes are not waterproof despite the Futurelight membrane. TNF seems to have chosen to piece together and sew the membrane without seam taping or using a unisock liner like goretex does, or that is what it looks like from the inside and the fact that my feet got soaked. Plus, the membrane does not extend far up the tongue. The futurlight made the shoe feel like you were wearing a plastic bag over your feet, creating a suction then pressurized as you walk. This was more apparent in hotter temps, which is something I haven't experienced with goretex lined shoes. Feet felt comfortable, though, in 90F with a light weight hiking sock (Darntough). The shoes did a pretty good job in side slopes and rocky terrain without feeling sketchy on descents or ascents. The lugs did not provide enough grip in clay mud so did slip, but most shoes have difficulty in clay mud, but the overall tread pattern and Vibram Megagrip tracked well. The ripple tread on toe and heel felt secure ascending and descending steep grades. Even though I liked the shoes, I simply wouldn't buy the shoes again because the Futurelight fails keeping feet dry in the toe box, which is where water leaked through.

I bought the shoes a couple of weeks ago and have been wearing them regularly. I like the way they look, and the fit is great. The problem is the right shoe "squeaks" when I walk! Something in the tongue makes a noise when I walk. Nothing huge but a bit annoying. I'm curious to see if it goes away.

For the past 15 months these have been my favorite go-to shoes for every day wear. I was looking for a light weight shoe with a Vibram sole to help grip the hillside yard I have to mow and these worked perfectly. They're finally developing cracks in the upper areas so I'm replacing them with another pair just like them. Did I mention they're super comfortable?

I have the mid height version. Purchased March 28, mesh tore on April 11 so I got not even 2 weeks out of them. Put maybe 60 km's on them, terrible shoe.

The mesh on these shoes failed in the bend by the toe area after light use. Seen this same complaint with others. Same thing happen with my last pair but did not happen nearly as quickly.

I bought these sneakers because they have Vibram outsoles and are waterproof. I thought they'd be a good value and I'd get lots of life out of them. After a couple of months of wearing these on/off in an office environment, the mesh at the top started to tear at the seams near the little toe on both sneakers. It seems that the mesh didn't have enough flex to handle the stress. Sneakers are getting super expensive with "features" but are still being designed to be much less durable. It seems like manufacturers are doing this on purpose for planned obsolescence. I wish this garbage mesh trend with sneakers would just go away. The waterproof fabric material also makes squishy noises when I walk
