I bought these for my hike to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and they did not disappoint! My feet stayed warm and dry through rain and snow and were comfortable, sturdy and supportive. I found they didn't need much break in time, I logged maybe 25 miles in them before my trip and my feet didn't hurt one bit and were blister free. I ended up donating them to the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project but I liked them so much I might have to buy another pair.

I wore these to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro and they were incredible. I wore silk liners and thermal level merino socks and my feet were nice and warm. I didn't need foot warmers. The shoes performed well under all weather conditions including severe rain. And after all of that all I had was one tiny blister...no toenail, etc issues. As I was heading down from the summit I passed a woman taking off her boots and her feet were in terrible condition. Do yourself a favor and try these - I barely needed to break them in.

Most comfortable and actually, yes, waterproof hiker I have ever owned! On my second pair. I have also purchased them for my kids, husband and dad. My dad is 73 and loves how supportive the shoe feels and loves that he doesn't have to bend down and tie his shoes!

I tried on countless pairs of hiking boots to find some for the west coast trail. Out of all the pairs, the Quest were the winner. Sturdy and supportive but lightweight and goretex ensure my feet stay comfortable and dry. These boots both feel and look great!

These boots are terrific. Ready to go out of the box. They run a bit big, good for extra socks. I had the same pair of Vasque for 20 years. Wasn’t pleased with the quality of the second pair for the price. I’m only in my sixth or seventh wear of these Salomon, but I’m definitely sold on the comfort.

For hiking the boot-eating trails of the Grand Canyon, I have been wearing Salomon trekking boots, and Salomon boots ONLY, for over twenty years. For me, it's a combination of high collar for stability, ultra-cushy yet ultra-supportive interior for days up to 25 miles, big toe rand to fend off endless assaults by broken rock, and perfect fit RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. Yes, I have gone down the trail with a 45lb+ pack in brand new boots. More than once. THAT's how much I trust the Salomon brand. I've owned something like 30 pairs. They don't disappoint. PLEASE, Salomon--don't ever stop making these trail crushers!! PS. This is how tough the trails are: these 4D GTX boots were new out of the box at the end of last September. Here they are 130 miles and 3 1/2 weeks later. PS: I am still wearing them as I train for THIS year's hiking. And there's a new pair upstairs, ready to go down those trails!

I bought these for the ankle stability and comfort. A little extra room in the toe box. I really like these boots! They fit true to size, I have 6.5 in both shoe and this boot. I love the shoelace lock.

Very happy with my new backpacking boots! They are a sturdy boot, the traction is what I need. They do run a little large.

The Salomon Quest 4 GTX are an excellent hiking boot (over the ankle). Fantastic material and quality. Sizing is spot on and you get what you pay for in this hiking boot. Highly pleased with this purchase.

This is my second pair of these boots. I did a lot of hiking throughout the pandemic and wore out my previous pair. I loved them so much I needed to get another pair! I have found that Salomon shoes run about a half size big for me.

I love the rugged style, but had to return them since I was not up for carrying the weight of these on my feet on an upcoming trip to do the Inka Trail in Peru. They were too heavy for me.

I unfortunately ordered the wrong size, and had to re-order. The return process was very easy and simple and it was processed quickly. I honestly wish they had an exchange program so I still got the discount I originally ordered the boots for as the sale had ended when I returned the boots. Even though they were a size too big the boots felt very comfortable and sturdy for the rough terrain I normally hike. I ordered the correct size and look forward to actually trying out the durability of these boots. The quality of these boots feels super great! Make sure to measure your feet like it says in their size guide it does matter.

I have owned 4 of these boots over the years and they are the most comfortable of all the boots I own. I'm a conservation wildlife photographer and I'm in these boots practically everyday. They are very durable and stable. The soles will last for a lifetime but the waterproofing will not. This is the only downside of the boots. If you're lucky, they will stay dry for about two years. I really want to give a 5 star rating but the waterproofing needs more R&D. I'll be happy to help with that! I can definitely put them through the test. I'm not walking in streams, just high wet grass. Salomon, keep making these boots! Just improve the waterproofing. Salomon definitely has sole!

I have had four different versions of this boot and I like them all. I have a very wide forefoot and short toes. They are the only boots that are wide enough for me and stiff enough for backpacking and occasional crampon use. I love the lace lock. The sizing is a bit bigger than previous versions. The only thing I don't like in this version is the strap over the middle of the boot. If they were more durable I would give them 4 stars. I go through a pair every 1.5-2 years. If only Salomon made mountaineering boots the same shape!

These boots are great. Super duper great. Purchased for 200 miles of trekking in Nepal and Bhutan during monsoon season. These boots stayed dry longer than anyone else's. The soles are extremely sturdy/durable and my feet truly never hurt despite the entire terrain being rocks. I only got blisters when the boots were soaked (can't be waterproof against treading through waterfalls). The one big drawback/design flaw is that the back lip on the heal quite literally curls up. If you are going down stairs, these get caught quite easily on the stair above you and cause either a face plant or do damage to the shoe. Not great. But that is the only complaint! These boots are the real deal!!!!

Bought the brown version of this in Dec. 2021, prod. 6/21. Fit is fantastic, I love them for my all-purpose use. I wear them all the time into town, at work (concrete), in the yard, on hikes, etc. Super comfortable, keeps my ankles stable and I never have sore feet or joints from standing or walking too much. They have been in the water some but I still try to stay out of it for the most part. The toe/ball of the sole on the right boot (right under the big toe knuckle joint) is coming apart and squeaks loudly every step I take. They don't feel wet but I tried drying it out with corn starch and seems to have worked for now but will have to stay away from water and see how long the quiet lasts. I thought it might be the tread on surfaces but it squeaks the same on carpet, grass, concrete, wood, etc. Left doesn't squeak at all but also isn't falling apart. My previous pair of Salomon boots had contagrip + gore tex + 4d chassis as well but were not the quest 4 style. I can't read the numbers on them anymore. They also fell apart in same area (both sides) but never squeaked. Weren't quite as comfortable as quest 4. I'll give these a second chance for the comfort. I wish the toe/ball area were more durable.

The most stable shoes that I 've ever had but... Salomon, we have a problem... I bought it at the end of September 2021 and I wear it for 5 or 6 times making approximately 35-40 kilometers. It is water resistant at a 100%, EXTREMELY steady and comfortable but the rubber started to peeling off on the left shoe in both sides. It is a very dissapointing issue... :( I will recommend this shoes BUT only if Salomon fix this issue in general

Comfy boot, but doesn't feel as good as my 2017 Salomon Quest 4d 2 GTX boots in Camel Gold Leather/Teal Blue. I was looking to replace those perfect boots with the newest version of them and was so excited to get them in the mail yesterday only to be a bit disappointed. The fit feels bigger, even though I purchased the exact same size as before- which puts my arch in a weird spot (hoping that breaks in and resolves). And the color is very pastel and almost a pinky-orange which doesn't look as nice in person as it does in the images online. I am NOT a fan of the overall look at all- doesn't scream outdoorsy to me, just cus we are women doesn't mean we all love pastels and pink-ish tones!!! I really miss my old boots and wish these were more similar.

Second pair of Salomon boots that are marketed and said to be water resistant/waterproof. Heck these are goretex! And they are not waterproof. After maybe 2 weeks of wear, they've sprung multiple leaks. Especially near the arches of the feet.

The metal fittings that hold the shoe laces in place were falling out of the leather upper on arrival. Tried to put them back in, but they fell out again on first hike. Will have to use a super glue to hold them in place. For the price, we would expect to not have parts falling off the boot straight out of the box.

Really like these boots, I've had for about 6 months and I hiking Mt. Marcy yesterday which is a pretty wet trail and I was really sad that for such an expensive boot my feet were pretty wet by the end.

I recently bought these shoes and tried them out for the first time today. I had to size up to 36 2/3 from my normal 36. My first outing with the shoes was not great. They are supportive and super comfortable, but I will never use them in fall/winter ever again. They are SO slippery. I walked up the local hiking-mountain on a well known, gavelled path, called Tippetue (Bergen, Norway). It's a super popular trail with lots of people walking it at the same time as us. Halfway up the mountain we encountered some snow. Seeing at people had walked there all day, the snow was a little packed. I had such a hard time getting up the path, my shoes slipped with every step - causing me to pull a muscle in my groin. Luckily i had my boyfriend with me and I could cling to him as we walked up. He wore his Adidas Terrex and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. People were passing us - old ladies, people in their beat up sneaker. Nobody had the same issues as me. When we finally get to the top, I take my eyes of the ground for a couple of seconds to look at the view. I forget that i'm wearing banana peels on my feet. I take one step, and my feet fly in the air and i fall on my tailbone. I deicided to walk down the mountain on a paved and heated road - I couldn't risk hurting myself even more. When we came further down again it started to rain. And I slipped on the wet cement. I'm just so incredibly disappointed. I can now only use these shoes in cold summers or when i'm guaranteed no snow or rain (not possible in Norway).

I bought this these boots few months ago. I used four time First time I used in Portugal and the sole of the left boot came off at the back. Second I use in Tenerife when hiking up Teide. Rest of sole was broken ( see picture). That happened only one boot. Right boot is perfect. No damage. The boots are very comfortable for me. I am disappointed because my wife use similarly boots 14 years and nothing happened.

Generally these boots tend to be reasonably good (except for one thing, I'll come to that in a minute). I do a huge amount of hiking/running across countryside which includes mud/wet terrain and rocky landscape and these boots are VERY comfortable HOWEVER there is one thing that bothers me about these boots, it seems as though the manufacturers are building in a 'fault line' along the suede edge where the boot tends to bend (near the bottom where your toes join your feet) and this seems to be the place where these boots ALWAYS eventually seem to split. On the newest pair I was looking carefully and the leather at this point looked a little thinner to me which would possibly substantiate my theory. Obviously this is just my opinion and this shouldn't be taken as a fact but it does seem odd that these boots always fail in this place. I must have owned ten or so pairs of these boots before over the years because they are so comfortable and trust me they are thrashed however they always fail in the same place, least with me.
