I went through an extensive try on session to find the perfect fit for waterproof hiking boots to take on a couple 4 day backpacking trips in Iceland. Overall, I wore these through almost 90 miles and they held up ~mostly okay. I will say the color and material choice was not good on these, as they remained a caked muddy brown for most of the trip after tackling a few rainy / snowy / muddy days on the trail. Waterproofing was also ~okay. Many stream crossings and downpours occurred and I recognize my feet would be substantially wetter in other boot alternatives, but they also didn't stay dry in the continuous sog.
Ankle support and grip were generally good for the trails needed. Though I will also comment that the laces are incredibly long on these -- cut or wrap if you desire.

I bought these about 6weeks ago and already one of the loops that the laces thread through has snapped. Other than that they are a very lightweight shoe and seem to be fairly waterproof.

Having just bought these and tried them on l was disappointed to see the webbed piece from the tongue to ankle is much lower, meaning my sock shows and and will not be waterproof if it rains. All my other Solomon's and Scarpa boots the web exceeds past the first hook at least not below the hook. Feel like you are skimping on material. Shame.

I like the books okay, I do not feel as if the bed holds my foot very well.

I like the style and it provides a good ankle support.however, it's hard to tight it to the point where I feel comfortable in it. It's either too tight which hurts, or too lose that tiny rocks and sand will get in it. It is also not waterproof. The shoes also doesn't have a good grip like an old GTX boots had. It was slippery in a rocky trail and light wet trail. The arc support is not as I expected and too flat for me. I'm not happy for the price I'm paying for. It's also hard to wash and clean. I usually wear 7.5 and size 7 on this fits perfectly for me.

I was real excited hoping this boot would be a nice compromise between trail runners and still have the support of an actual hiking boot. It was supper comfortable when I put it on. Putting it to the test on an easy to moderate trail it did not offer much support and after a day of hiking my feet and ankles were very sore. Needless to say they are now just boots I have wasted money on. very disappointed!

I purchased these shoes a month ago (May 2020), in a size 7.5 (regular shoesize 7), and they are a beautiful fit. No hot spots, put some heavy mileage on these shoes. Since the overlays are no-sew, you don't get uncomfortable flex points either, which is wonderful.
Unfortunately, they are not waterproof. When I walk through grassy fields in the morning (dewy, wet but not raining), my feet are fine - totally dry and great! When I take off the shoes, they are dry inside, but have moisture on the outside of the toe and vamp. When I go to put them on again in the afternoon, the moisture has worked its way down into the toebox. I'm 100% sure it's wet, and not just cold - I inserted a paper towel into the shoe, and it comes out damp. No, it is not from sweat either - short walks in the morning, both feet and socks are dry post walk.
I'm not sure how the goretex membrane is inserted into this shoe - it makes me wonder if the tongue seam is not fully taped, or if the membrane doesn't reach there?
I thought perhaps it was a one-off circumstance. I let the shoes dry out fully, and tried again a few days later in similar conditions. The same thing happened.
Then, after drying again, tried pouring some water on ONLY the front vamp of the shoe, touching nothing else. Let them sit. Behold, it's damp inside.
Truly unfortunate, I expected more from goretex shoes. Otherwise these shoes would be my favorite.

Loved these boots when I took them out of the box. They are so lightweight and so comfortable, but unfortunately not waterproof. Very disappointing! Tried them a second time, thinking that maybe the first time it may have been something i did unknowingly, however both my feet got wet again. I was excited for a lightweight gtx boot for my summer adventures, but it's back to the drawing board.

This was a replacement shoe for a Solomon hiking boot that lost the waterproofing after a few months. Now this boot has done the same thing after 20 months, and not heavy use!
I love to hike and have tried other boots, definitely do not recommend Solomon! they would not replace these as the warrantee started when the first pair was puurched.

I bought these 3 days ago and have worn them on 2 hikes, one in dry weather, one in light rain. I have hiked all of my adult life [I am 84] and I have really nothing good to say about this boot. First of all, I never had to rely on a boot "made for women". I had to buy a size 8 although I normally wear a size 8-1/2 - 9. The heel and the tongue are extremely soft, which is a selling point for Salomon but I find it annoying if I slip into the boot and the top folds like an accordion. That feature certainly won't last long. The tongue is so. soft that when I lace the boots it crumples and the top two cleats have to be laced either very tightly so that it hurts or very loosely so that after a short time forest debris falls into the back of the boot. The hike in the rain [2 hrs and very light rain] caused the boots to be completely wet inside. I re-adjusted the lacing several times but the pain around the ankle increased to such a searing point, that I actually took the boots off and walked back to the car in stocking feet. A first for me! But at least the pain stopped immediately when I took the laces out of the cleats. The laces, by the way, are far too long. These boots will be returned tomorrow.

The Vaya is my 5th pair of Salomon hiking shoes. I love them being comfortable and no need to break in. Unfortunately this pair were not waterproof. I live in Vancouver, BC and it rains a lot here. The Vaya failed miserably and left my feet soaked after hiking in the rain yesterday (and I wore rain pants and gaiters). I would return them if i could find my receipt.
