I loved the shoes overall but had to return them because the sides of the shoe below the ankle dig into my ankle. They put material too close to the side front of the ankle. This problem won't affect people with tall feet and higher ankles, but for those whose ankles aren't as high, it makes the shoes unusable. Bummer.

Bought these 6 months ago and have given up with them. They are uncomfortable, rub, and already wearing out.

I bought this in April, 2022 and the soles are already wearing through on the heels and forefoot. The rubber compound is soft, which may be the reason for the premature wear. I've had other Salomons that I've had for over six years that have better soles than this shoe. I like Salomons but highly dissapointed in the quality of this one. Is there a resole option for this shoe since I still like the fit and would like to continue wearing this shoe?

These are my 6th pair of X Ultra boots. From the moment I tried my first pair they were awesome, the most comfortable I've worn. I even went out and bought the hiking boot equivalent and never hesitated to buy another as soon as one wore out. I am so sad with this latest Version 04, they do not feel comfortable to wear anymore - the key reason I keep coming back to them. I don't know what you have changed to the foot bed but all other previous versions have felt so good straight out of the box. Why have you now got a tongue that is nearly completely detached from the main body of the shoe. When you put your foot in it just crumples up in side and you have to pull it out again. The older version (Ultra 3) is was attached to the body of the shoe nearly all the way up, you could slip your foot in. Summary: disappointing.

These are the first and will be the last salomon shoes I will buy. I have never had as many problems with blisters on the back of my heels as I have with these shoes. Apart from this, they are very stable ;)

Bought the shoe after previously owning and loving two other pairs in the X Ultra series (so feeling reasonably confident about fit). Some fairly obvious pinching of the shoe in the instep causing hotspots and blisters after only a few days, and the fabric in the heel also came unstitched (more blister potential) after less than a week.

I have had these shoes for around six months now, and the stitching on some of the eyelets is already coming loose. Massively disappointing

I bought them to walk the dog in the winter months first time it rained I had very wet feet . Checked the reviews and it looks like I've bought the wrong shoe for the job . My mistake but gutted as an expensive mistake. Like them but not fit for purpose for me .

Used these for three weeks walking the Camino de Santiago in Portugal/Spain (nothing extreme). Very comfortable out of the box, and the non-GTX version was great for warmer weather. However, the insole is terrible and provides minimal arch support or cushioning for the heel and ball of the foot - replaced with a Decathlon hiking insole combined with Dr Scholl heel gel pads. Durability is also disappointing, and after three weeks of use the heels were wearing through and starting to collapse inwards. Fit for the bin really just one month after buying, and now relegated to gardening use only! Overall, for casual use these are great comfortable shoes, but if you are doing anything more demanding they are not suitable. The older Ultra models I believe were more robust.

I bought a pair of x ultra 4 shoes following my experience with the x ultra 3. The two couldn't fit/feel more different. The 3 fits great and laces up nicely. The 4 is bulky at the top of the foot, and always feels like I need to tighten the laces. The top of the lacing is too close to the little pocket on the tongue that lace tucks into. The arch has a weird feel as well. I have flat feet and the 3 still feels and fits great. I'm really Regretting purchasing the 4. I wear my 3's every day and have had no luck shopping for a new, leftover pair of them. The 4 sits in my closet collecting dust.

Bought these around a year ago, used mostly for walking. Fit is ok, it is not hot wearing them. The problem is though the inner lining at the heel, it lasted a year. I would expect a better quality for the price.

Bought these a while ago. Very comfortable and grip really well. Not my first pair of Solomon's.

I have had an original XUltra version of this shoe and it was fabulous. Lasted forever and only bought the v4 because I wanted a new looking pair. The Xultra 4 is a horrible step in the wrong direction. The laces have actually cut through the eyelets in 1 year and now the shoes are useless and I will get rid of them.

I had about 150km in the shoes, and collars would just rip, front and back, making my achilles hurt a lot. So the fabric of the shoes ripped about 7 days after the purchase, and this model made me lose all the trust. I am unsure if I will ever try out Salomons again

x-ultra 3 was an awesome model, bring it back and fire your designers, who invented x-ultra 4. What a junk is this new model! Wish I could buy X-ultra 3.

I had two pairs of X Ultra 3s and put on more than 750 miles each. Excellent shoe! With no options for buying 3s, I bought a pair of X Ultra 4s. As with many of the reviewers, the toe cap came unglued within 75 miles of use. The ankle sides were also slightly raised, causing blisters around the ankle bone. Fortunately I was able to return them. I managed to finish the trek with my old X Ultra 3s. Now I don't know what to do for new shoes. Bring back the X Ultra 3s! Best shoe ever.

Posting again as previous review mysteriously didn't appear Holes after 250km, unusable after 400km. Shoes gave blisters (very unusual for me). Warranty claim unsuccessful... Have done many long distances hikes, never encountered a shoe so poorly made. Laughable for the price. Have had many other shoes that have lasted much longer, and never that have at any point ended up in the state that these did (see pictures). The shoes also gave me blisters, which is unusual for me. Pictures shoe how poorly the shoes held up. Moral of the story, make sure you read the reviews, there are plenty of one star reviews describing similar issues in quality. Don't often do reviews, but this needed sharing.

These shoes are not as supportive as the x ultra 3, which I've been wearing various versions of since 2015. These shoes seem more focused on design over function. Please bring back the 3!!

I have lost count of the number of X-Ultras I have owned but the 4's are terrible. They are uncomfortable to wear and the heal gripper portion has also come unstitched after very little use giving me blisters. As it stands I don't know where to go as used to love these shoes but cannot buy another pair as the quality and fit have become so poor. Please, please, please invest more in the quality of the shoes and bring back the design from the X-Ultra 3.

As a long-time loyal customer of Salomon shoes, I'm very disappointed in the X Ultra, as the upper construction around the toe box started breaking down within a month of purchase from light use. I'm really surprised Salomon is making such a poor quality shoe. A Warranty claim had an unsatisfactory result.

Shoe started deteriorating after 6 months of light use. X ultra 3 was a great show but these are not.

Scraped the back of my foot and peeled my skin off. Runs very tight and uncomfortable. I wish I could get the XT-6 but you guys don't make them in a size 14
