I was looking to replace my worn out Salomon walking shoes with the features I liked - quicklace, cushioned sole. These are great and extremely comfortable, as expected. I should have picked the goretex ones because the ones I ordered are not waterproof (and don't claim to be). I haven't returned them because I didn't realise at the time until I walked through a deep puddle, and I did order them! Still like them.

I bought these a while ago to replace an old pair of shoes from a different brand and fell in love with these. Theyre comfortable and I have done a few hikes with them now with no issues!

Another great shoe from Salomon. The only issue I have is the side ankle support must be higher than my last pair as they gave me a blister on first wearing. I'm sure they'll soften up with wear.

They are good shoes and I've put quite a few miles on them. The sole is adequate for most of the hiking I do, but it is not as stiff as the 3's and would not be as good for some of the more difficult hikes I do. Sure look forward to the day I can replace my X Ultra 3's.

Just sized up hoping to get more room in front of shoe from the X Ultra3’s that I’ve totally worn out. They are roomier, but there isn’t more space for the outer part of my foot. Wish they made these in wide. Also, the footbed is not nearly as soft and comfortable as previous model. Still trying to get used to these. Will try insoles with more cushion.

The shoes are very stylish and comfortable. The main reason for the purchase was the bungee cord system for the shoes which is not very common and very difficult to find.

I wore these for a thru-hike I did of a 300+ mile trail. Lots of rocks and roots. I am glad I went with these over a trail runner, as the lugs on the outsoles of these are much more robust and sturdy than a trail runner. These dry out quickly, which is great for long distance hiking in 3-season weather, but it does mean your feet will get wet on wet days. The quickness to dry / breathability was the obvious choice for me for long distance hikes, as opposed to "waterproofness". They aren't going to have "ankle support" to the extent of mids or full height boots, but when hiking long distances, I at least, notice my ankles strengthen, and though I did roll my ankles a couple times, never did it hurt. Our feet are somewhat adapted to this, and if you aren't carrying expedition-level weights and are not on the heavier-set side, you probably can get away without the ankle support. I did get blisters from these shoes at the start. However, I went from doing very little activity, to spending 7-8 hours a day hiking. It would've happened with any shoe. The heel of the shoe is a bit odd, in that it comes up pretty high, and can dig in if your feet are supple (like mine were). Just using some mole skin and/or mole foam solves the problem until your feet toughen up. At the end of my 300+ mile hike, the shoes were pretty much shot. The uppers were wearing through, the midsoles weren't providing as much support, etc. But these shoes definitely did the job for me and fit in a nice middle ground between trail runners and boots. Just the extra bit of sturdiness that I needed, while staying lightweight and breathable.

I like them. I do have to wear my thicker socks because they're slightly large for size. I bought 13. 12 and a half might have been better.

I love the X Ultra 4's style, very futuristic and modern look. Would love to see more color variations with it too. I've made it a habit to get a new pair once a year.

These are the only Salomon boots Ive had that did not fit well. I wore them a lot all summer on both hikes and everyday walks. Although they were the same size as other Salomons, these never seemed to break in well. The heel cup wore out quickly which left a hard plastic edge to tear up my heel. The toe drop was odd - my feet felt tired almost immediately in these boots. I had a lot of foot slip on hikes which led to blisters. The quick lace system is great. These boots in particular just did not fit me the way all other Salmons have.

My only dislike in the shoe is the shoe lace. Almost impossible to find replacement, even online direct from the company. Very difficult to replace the lace package - I gave up and purchased a thin lace of rawhide.

Got this pair at REI and wore them maybe 10 times. They broke in several places. Luckily REI is easy to return. This is supposed to be premium and it was anything but. Stay away.

Not waterproof be advertised as such. Should have ordered the gore Tex model but choices were slightly confusing.

It rubs a little in some places, especially on the fingers, but I think it will go away with time.

Purchased the X Ultra 4 after my previous Salomons had met their limit , 7 years of service. I expected the same when I purchased these and just about a year into wearing 1x to 2x per week for medium/ moderate day hikes (6-10 miles) I expect these will last about 4 or 5 years .. Highly recommend this shoe, great support, comfortable and thus far as durable as my prior pair- I believe a predecessor to the x ultra 4.

Purchase the shoes for some lightweight backpacking. The shoes begin to separate at the soles within four hiking trips. Reached out to customer service but they would not cover it under their warranty.

Very upset to find out that Salomon has changed the measurements of its footwear. Unfortunately I did not know this until after I made my purchase. Return was a bit of a hassle once I found out how narrow these shoes actually are made now. Blessing in disguise, HOKA Anacapa low breeze are legit.
