I have and older version of this bag and decided to buy this one as gift. Very well made and I love that it converts into a backpack for travel.

I've been a fan of the Timbuk2 classic messengers for years, but I'm not on a bike much these days so I was looking for something a little more suited to walking/driving to work. This bag fits the bill, it holds a lot and looks classy. The backpack option is great on days when I have time to walk. Overall happy with my purchase!

I use this almost every and sometimes with the matching backpack when I need more space. This tote is not too large, but is very well organized. I can separate papers and computer from everything else.

Really great bag. The tote/backpack conversion is great. It holds a lot and is lightweight. I live in NYC and walk everywhere, and having a light but durable bag has been amazing.

This backpack was super handy on a long trip through plane, train & automobile travel. The backpack feature is necessary for when the bag is full and heavythe shoulder straps really distribute the weight. All the different pockets are useful and the back pocket keeps your passport close to your body.

I love this bag. I've had it for over three years, and it's still solidly put together. There are plenty of pockets and spaces to organize, it's waterproof, and it's easy to go from tote to backpack, which mainly comes in handy for traveling. I've traveled all over the world with this bag--planes, camping, and road trips. I wear it to work and carry my laptop, IPad Pro, and Mirrorless Fuji camera. It hasn't gone out of style; best of all, it's SO Functional. It feels like this bag still has a long life ahead of it, so I can't imagine I'll need a new one soon, but it has definitely given me confidence in the Timbuk2 brand.

The different straps are convenient & comfortable. Holds my laptop & plenty more without looking bulky. Streamlined look makes it versatile for work/commuting & travel.

I ended up returning this bag because I am 5'2 and the tote straps were too long and the bag looked very bulky on me. I wish the straps were shorter or adjustable because aesthetically, I love how this backpack looks as an actual backpack and it fits SO much stuff. And the straps tuck away cleanly, and this would be a great overnight/travel bag. I just couldn't really use it for my work commute because it swallowed me up. Otherwise, for taller people, I would recommend!

I wanted a lot of things for my work bag: - big and comfortable enough to use to lug my laptop, some water, and my lunch back and forth on the days I go in to the office - easily convert from a backpack for ergonomics into something a little more professional when needed (i.e. tote and/or crossbody) Things I like: - The slim profile, color, and shape! It is cute as both a tote and a backpack! - The lightness - The organization: the zippered inside pocket is great for my wallet and the outer compartment is roomy enough for all my work accoutrements (backup phone battery, some makeup, mints, etc.) plus keys. - I'm torn about the extra zip pocket that's meant for sunglasses -- it doesn't feel like it would protect my glasses but could be a good way to have my wallet/phone easily accessible, but it feels like it would be a little too accessible to pickpockets. Perhaps a zip pocket would be useful on the back of the bag? My wishlist to make this my "dream" bag: - I wish that there was a loop or a way to shorten one of the tote handles so that I could grab the bag quickly when it is in backpack form - Minor point: a latch to secure the laptop sleeve (my previous Timbuk2 backpack had a velcro strap that made my laptop seem more secure) - I like the idea of being able to unbuckle the backpack straps and stow them away when they're not in use, but since the adjustable length of the strap is attached to the bottom of the bag, even when you stow away the top part of the straps, there will still be the other half of the strap hanging off the bottom of the bag. I could tie these up but that would still look odd and also adds to the time to switch between bag types. - Like I said above, if there was a zippered pocket on the back of the bag that I could put my work ID so that I don't have to unstrap myself from the bag, unzipper 2 zippers with one hand, or otherwise juggle to get my wallet out. - Having a little flap or seal over the outer zipper to keep things dry during rain

I love this bag - it is both very professional and practical. I love using as a tote for the most part, and then as a backpack when I have longer walks / am in the airport. The only thing I wish this bag had that it doesn't is a water bottle holder!

Really disappointed in the bag. While I was glad it fit my 16-inch laptop, I ended up returning it. The bag just looks and feels cheap. Maybe if it was $20 or $30 it would be worth the money. The "tote" straps are small and uncomfortable, the backpack straps are also quite uncomfortable an there is no way to detach and stow those. There is only one outside pocket and it sticks out in a weird way. I just didn't want to walk around with this.
