Fjallraven is one of my favorite brands, so when I needed something a bit more low key, I purchased this rain jacket to keep in my car, or lightweight traveling or hiking. It is definitely lighter than my Keb Eco Shell (probably because the Keb is 3 layered, while this jacket is 2.5), and the color is bright. The fit does allow for layers like other Fjallraven jackets. The downside is that this jacket does make a good deal of crinkly sounds. It is like other waterproof windbreakers, but I loved that my every movement wouldn’t be “announced” (a great feature of the Keb). Though if you’re used to it, or just don’t care, then it would be fine for you. The jacket also doesn’t feel as soft or “smooth fabric” feeling like my Keb. I am keeping my Hydratic jacket as it has its uses, and won’t mind keeping this jacket in the car when I get caught in a sudden rainfall (I hate umbrellas, they are for tourists where I’m from), and I can layer as a shell. I also like the lightweight, which comes in handy from time to time. The side hand pockets (which are not a feature on my Keb), with side vents would be a great plus. As we head towards some warmer weather, this won’t retain as much heat as my Keb. Don’t get me wrong this is a great jacket, and the red is pretty bright (the other colors are mor easily blended to your surroundings), but unless you really love this jacket, and/or don’t care about the downsides I have pointed out, by all means go for it. If you already own a Keb Eco Shell, you may want to think very deeply on why you would need this jacket. Even Fjallraven themselves said, if you already own the Keb Eco Shell, you may want to pass on the Hydratic shell jacket.
