The Merrell Antora 2 has been a decent shoe, but it recently had a serious breakdown during a hike. Shame on Merrell. See more about that below.
I purchased the Merrell Antora 2 shoes this spring for training and mountain hiking. The shoe is part of a three-shoe rotation including another Merrell and a Brooks shoe. It has been used for hiking on access roads and moderate trails for power hiking and some trail running.
I found the shoes to fit well and provide fairly good front foot stability which is as important as the heel. It has generally been comfortable but could use a little more arch support. That can possibly be corrected with some mole skin if you are careful. The traction has been good on a variety of surfaces. It has generally been good for training and for serious power hiking in the mountains.
But the shoes came apart while on a hike in the Colorado mountains. The shoes had only been worn a couple months as part of a three-shoe rotation, so the milage was not high. The out sole tore away from the shoe (see picture). That can never happen. Damage like that can be disastrous when you are hiking especially if you are far from your car as we were when the shoe failed. Failures like that can never happen. When a person is hiking, they depend on their shoes and equipment. Hiking equipment can never fail like that. Merrell, your shoe failure led to a near disastrous situation. Imagine if the tear would have continued.

Love my rainbow "warriors". Have had compliments on them. Found them a half size smaller than the skyfire shoes by measurements. My feet are small and narrow. Arch support seems good. I do not hike in these shoes; comfy for casual wearing.

I haven't worn these outside yet, just around the house . They feel good but will see when I wear them outdoors.

Fit seemed true to size. Pretty comfortable through the toebox, which is one of my biggest problems with shoes, though somewhat snug on my wider foot. With the standard inserts and thick base there is a lot of cushion. I was able to walk a couple miles in them right away without feeling extra fatigue. I do have plantar fasciitis on one foot, and might need to swap inserts for longer treks. I do love the bright color. Gives a bit of pizzazz to my walking gear.

I love these, unfortunately, I’ve only had them for 6 months and they are already wearing through at the pinky toe.

Fit my foot, but didn't have enough support in base. Also, there is not a proper toe guard. Those two deficiencies changed these from walkers to gardening shoes.

I was so excited to order these based on their looks. My previous Merrells have lasted me years of regular use. The Antora 2s came apart on my first trail hike. The hole where the foam is showing is getting bigger with each use.

They're comfortable, they have decent traction, but they're already kind of torn up. I've only used them for paved-trail walking for about two months, maybe 3 walks a week, and I've got holes in the fabric at the pinky toe side on one shoe, and two tears on the top inside part where the laces have the final loop in both shoes. The two top holeslikely where my ankles might catch each other, and maybe it's the texture of the fabric that doesn't do well with the friction, but it's a bit annoying that it happened at all.

I was all set to love these... but I didn't. The arch was uncomfortable. Not the usual Merrill that I do love. So I went back to Bare Access and I am happy again. This might be a really good Merrill for someone who wants sturdier arch support?

The fit is okay but... the last two pairs of Merrells ( these and a pair of clogs) make an annoying noise with each step. Last pair I'll be buying.

The left shoe fits strange and my foot and leg hurt when I walk in them. I got these shoes because I trust Merrell and hoped they would help with pain when I take 5 mile walks, but I think I’m better off with $50 ASICS. I’m keeping them and will wear them to work.

I was surprised to find that these ran narrow, since Merrell shoes are often a great fit for my wider feet. They might be just fine in larger sizes, but with a size 7 they were just too tight and narrow. I don't think I'll try sizing up, they were too far off. I love the colors though!

The shoes fit well but the quality is not what I expected from a Merrill product. Perhaps explained by lower end price but still a disappointment

I loved these shoes until the upper part on both shoes started fraying after wearing for a few months. The frayed areas have turned to holes. I have had other Merrell brand hikers that have held up for many years.

These were great for the first couple of months, but the fabric ripped on both sides of the toe protector (thin plastic surface covering the top front of shoe.) Now, I’ve got holes on the inner and outer sides, and suddenly I’m back on the hunt for new trail runners long before I should be. Be warned: these shoes are not durable.

I wanted to love these because they're a decent brand and they're super cute. BUT I went for a very easy 2 mile hike and coming down was TERRIBLE. Absolutely no comfort, even with my own custom orthotics. It felt like a painfully cut shell of a shoe. Definitely not worth it unfortunately.

I loved the colors and wished I could keep them. I’ve worn then several times around the house and each time they cause my feet to hurt. I rarely have had luck with Merrells. Thought I’d give them one more try.

Bought these in April and discovered that every time I wore these on walks my heels were bruised and painful. Also the dark dye inside the shoe stained my socks and feet.
If you already know that a vibram sole works for you it may not be an issue for you.

These shoes were great for city and trail walking. I bought them because the rigid sole provided excellent support and stability with my custom orthotics. However, after a week they developed an abrasion hole in the uppers, and after a month of light wear the inside backs of the heels had torn and were grabbing at my socks and giving me blisters. I've had a lot of Merrell shoes over the years and they usually wear very well; this was a big disappointment. Fortunately Zappos customer service is amazing and they refunded the purchase, but now I need to find another similar shoe that fits as well as these!

Looks cheap in-person. Shoe is low quality and one sole coming detached after one month of light indoor gym wear. Would not pay full (or even half) price again.

I really liked these shoes but was disappointed that they had started to fall apart before 2 months of wearing them. Merrell customer service did a great job and is sending me a replacement pair of shoes, but am still concerned about their durability.

The right shoe fit well, but the left shoe was narrower in the forefoot area, like it had been pulled too tight in construction. Would have liked them otherwise.

I am a dedicated Merrell fan. Have bought several pairs for hiking and walking. Love them. But...My most recent purchase is a big disappointment especially since I paid full price - I usually get something on sale. They are tight and I have hobbled thru 5 or 6 walks to try to break them in. The top of my feet in the toe box are in constant pain. I read the reviews and got these since someone said they helped their plantar fasciitis.
