Great shoe

I normally wear a 12 wide but got the 12.5 because this show doesn't come in a wide. HOKA describes the ride as plush. It is more so than the Challenger ATR but not as much as the Bondi. However it has a more rugged feel to it than the Bondi and I look forward to lots of wet winter day trekking in it. The only nit I would pick is that the laces are much shorter than the Challenger (12W) or the Bondi (12W). Adding a runner's loop at the top makes them barely able to tie. I may have to replace them with either an elastic lace or something else longer.

High quality build and materials. Fit is snug, I wouldn't say small but is more snug than average - reminds me of how Pumas fit. Which is a good thing. Maybe get a half size up or wide width if shoes usually feel snug to you. Lateral support is great as my last several shoes have been narrow and caused me to roll ankles a few times.

I never owned a pair of Hoka shoes before. Always been a New Balance guy. I wear a men's size 8.5 in New Balance and I read that Hoka's ran a half-size small. They did not, in my experience. My Hoka size 8.5 do fit fine, though they might be very, very slightly smaller, it's not enough to go up another half size for me. The shoes are very comfortable without any break-in period and they make me a little taller, which is always welcome! So far, after just a day with the shoes, I am happy with them. Let's see how they hold up over time and if they cause any blistering or foot pain with extended wear. I will update this review in a few months once I have the answers to these questions, but for now, we're off to a great start!

I am a huge fan of Hoka One One. I had several people stop me and ask me about my Hoka's, and friends and family purchased them based on how they look and my experience with them. This is my third pair now and by far my favorite. I selected this style because I thought it would be a good all purpose shoe for walking, hiking, and winter weather. Also wanted something that was more firm with less cushion. I decided to write this review after wearing them to Maine for a weekend getaway. They are the only shoes I took and they did not disappoint. One day there was a downpour and my feet did not get wet, which was exactly what I was hoping for. The only thing I hope for is the lugs on the bottom do not wear too quickly. Other than that, I am a huge fan of this shoe.
