I am 5'9", 155 lbs with 40" hips and a 30" waist. I ordered the large and the medium to try on and I returned the medium. The medium was a perfect but snug fit and the large is a bit looser. I've taken these shorts out for a 13-mile run and they were incredibly comfortable. I barely knew they were on and my thighs did not eat them. I also like to support brands that are using recycled material in their products.

The difference in how the legs are cut out compared to the previous generation is disappointing - this style is cut tighter to the leg. it doesn’t ride up as much but it is too tight and the air flow is less. the vents along the waistband do absolutely nothing. I dont understand their placement - unless you have a flat butt there is just no airflow there. 5” not having pockets is also annoying. Brooks advertises the 5” and 3” as an option for those not happy with the tighter fit of the 7”. Sorry to report that these are not any looser compared to the 7”s. will keep the one pair of 7”s I got as a last resort with pockets while i try other brands again. these might work if you have a mildly curving rear and minimal thighs but I have linebacker thighs and a butt.

These are my go-to running shorts. They are totally comfortable and never ride up. I like the higher waist because it doesn't cause rolls and is more flattering. No zippered pocket, sadly, but there is a kind of flap pocket for keys. I'm on the short side, and these are the perfect length, although I also wear the 7" and love those too.

I wanted to love these. The fit and fabric was great, however the back “vents” were just weird. They wouldn’t lay flat, causing unnecessary bumps on my back side.

I got these because they were recommended as shorts that don’t ride up - and they live up to that name! Very flowy and it has a stretchy drawstring on the waist band. I was worried that the lining would show from the outside, but you can’t tell at all. I’m probably gonna get a few more!

Really beautiful pair of shorts. Tried many brooks shorts. These have all the bells and whistles. I may return though as they’re slightly larger than other brooks styles and seem longer than advertised. Very good coverage if that’s your need. I prefer brooks shorts over Lulu and athletica. They seem more fitness oriented.

5 inch length are perfect!! Love the wide waistband, as well as the variety of colors . Have 4 pairs!

I bought these to try out on the volleyball court and I now have a new favorite pair of shorts. Back to buy other colors.

These are nice shorts, nice material and not too short but a 6" short would be welcome, the 7" looks frumpy on me. I cut the liner out of all the shorts with a liner, I do not understand their purpose and I think they add discomfort and weight. Without the liner, this is a nice, thin, cool short. The size is a bit generous but I want summer clothes to be cool and comfortable above all else so this works for me.

These are well made shorts, but best for a girl who has muscular or large legs. I’m 5’5, 118, and athletic/lean. So, the legs, hips and butt areas had too much material for me. I had ordered a small.

These are my favorite shorts for hot weather. The material is very thin, and they don't ride up.

Great fit, great value! Length is perfect for me I'm almost 70 years old and need some comfort while I walk /run. Material is very nice and dries when sweating a lot. This is very important for me as I have very sensitive skin. Very happy with my purchase, I have bought these in the past. Will buy again! Waist band excellent and very comfy and I love the pockets!

Perfect length and comfortable shorts for my runs. Looks great on and doesn't ride up.

The fit is as expected but please offer these without the liner. I have many pairs of these shorts and I always cut them out. The shorts are cool and comfortable in warm weather, dry relatively quickly and look nice. The phone pocket is interesting. It is a puzzle sitting in the back of the waistband that is not easily accessible. It has a top flap and a bottom flap and the phone gets pulled and pushed between them. A regular side pocket with zip would be nice.

Great fit. Love all the pockets! 5" length is just right, not too short. My third pair please don't every stop offering this style.

Love these shorts. Very comfortable waist band. Perfect length. Great pockets in all the right places. Color is different and more attractive in person. I'm 156, 5'7" and got the large. I workout in them and play pickleball in them.

Love these shorts, I use for cross training - my fourth pair.

I love the Chaser 5" shorts. I have 3 different colors now and wear them a lot. They are so comfortable and light weight which makes running in the summer heat and humidity much easier. Please never stop selling them!!!

Wide waistband is super comfy & the length is perfect! Will definitely stock up next time they go on sale.

Great fit. Perfect length. Quick dry. Pockets. Very comfortable. I bought two more pair. I?m 60, 5?3, 116lbs. Size small fits loose but I like them.

These are the absolute perfect length for someone not wanting to show off too much, but not wanting to be a grandma either. They are so comfortable and light.

Love it for running and walking. I like a short with a liner, and this one is comfy and cool during activity, but, for this 45 year old, still long enough to wear for the rest of the day. Sleek, comfy fabric. Beautiful hem design, smooth--but not tight--fit. I'm 5'5" 140 and small fits perfectly. Rise ideal for me. Plenty of discreet pockets. Absolutely worth full price.

Awesome shorts! They are very lightweight and don't cling. I am smack between S/M and went with the M for a little more room so I could wear them casually too (pro tip: if you want them more fitted, size down). The length hits just right for long/tall which I love. Tons of pockets and the waistband hits just right. I didn't experience any riding up or awkward pulling. Will definitely buy more.
