For the purpose that I needed this bag its about perfect. I have a 15" MacBook pro I carry daily to work. Charger, pens, notepads, book or two and some headphones. Great size and the laptop compartment is the best. I had a Fjallraven before and it was annoying getting the laptop in and out. Well done.

I bought this a few months ago and it's my go to bag. I work in a defence environment and it's the perfect bag for both the field and for around town. Keep up the great work MR.

I needed this for carrying daily office and school supplies. I needed it to specifically fit a laptop, which it does perfectly. It holds everything I need on a daily basis, to include my lunch. The technology on the zippers is simple, but very effective.

I bought this for one of my grandchildren. They needed a study backpack to put they school laptop in without it being damaged. The Rip Ruck was perfect. Plus it provided the room needed for their school supplies, etc. Also purchased the Rip Ruck 15 for one of my smaller grandchildren and it fit his smaller body perfectly. Great product.

Love this bag! It is the perfect size for carrying things you need for a work day. I needed a bag to carry my computer and Nalgene bottles. This pack is perfect for it. The magnets on the front pocket are sweet and make sure that the bag closes even if you forget to zip it up.

This bag has ample organization with a tough rugged look but it's abit cramped for space and tough to access all pockets except the laptop compartment. Best used as an edc.

I bought this pack back in October as a replacement for a pack that I had been using as my school pack. After 6 years (4 undergrad, two as a grad student), I decided it was time for an upgrade and saw this in the campus bookstore. I have been extremely pleased. The pros: It fits my 15" laptop, 12.9" iPad pro, model kit (I'm a chemistry grad student), as well as any charging cables needed. All pens, markers, pencils, and sanitation items needed given the pandemic are stowed and easily accessible in the external pockets. The internal document sleeves in the main compartment are a great touch, and the secondary compartment (rip access) is big enough to fit extra snivel gear (light layer, hat, gloves) and 2x 1L Nalgene canteens. The cons (very minor): It did take me a while to figure out where I wanted to stow all my admin stuff. My previous pack offered a lot more organization for keeping pens, pencils, etc... in specific spots. In this pack, everything kind of gets lumped together. Perhaps the addition of a couple designated writing utensil sleeves in the main rip pocket? I am also confused by the velcro in the main pocket. I see this and think it is intended to hold a modular holster or some gear along those lines for off-body carry. It seems out of place, as I would think these would be better served by having quicker access (like the rip lid) rather than the zipper that seals the compartment. Perhaps there is a way to modify the design of the lid, so that the pack is purely top-loading, and the rip panel offers access to all of the primary pockets as they are currently laid out?

Gonna have to start off with the one gripe I have about this bag: space for water bottle. You can put your bottle inside the main rip compartment but you'll put a little bit of pressure on the two mini rip pockets. Okay, that's my only issue. THE GOODS: This bag is the king of blending in tacti-cool style with genuine functionality. The two mini rip pockets are fantastic for large glasses, with some room to spare. Keys, wallet, knife, pens, MR Street Masks (they're the best, trust me) you can fit all that in just one pocket. The main rip compartment has the mesh divider which is excellent for storing your chargers and other medium sized items. Plenty of room for spare clothes, too. The zippered compartment has organized dividers so you can carry your notebook, MacBook, planner, and sketch pad all without taking up too much room. With the pack fully kitted out, the shoulder straps are the friggin bees knees. They're super comfortable and supportive enough to carry around whatever you're looking to carry. If you're looking for an EDC bag that can go from being a travel companion, school bag, and maybe take on a couple of hikes (aka a genuinely good all-rounder edc) then you should seriously consider this pack.

Several (good) improvement that makes this Gen 2 design very useful for EDC. Size increased to 24L Velcro loop panel in laptop compartment Lots of external daisy chains Magnetic closures Lighter material Here I also post a picture next to UA24...RR24 is basically wider and deeper. New shoulder straps and back material are...not my fav. I'm old school and prefer space mesh. New material is very urban and similar to Canadian dirty bird design. I guess that keeps weight down, but will see how hot they get in tropic weather here. If there will be Gen 3, I hope slots for pens and maybe document pocket on front flap will complete the EDC purpose. Overall this is a nice EDC pack and I recommend it.

Great pack, good quality construction. I saw the water bottle pouches on the other two models and thought they came on the 24 also. I am really disappointed that I didn't catch the fact that it doesn't have them. I carry two Nalgene type bottles with me every day. They take up most of the interior of the pack. That being said, the pack is a quality you would expect from the Ranch. I believe it will last a long time.

Great overall bag. Would have opted for the next size up if I knew better though. I do feel it is somewhat basic for the price.

What is a good solution to fixing the draw-cords on the small pockets?? I LOVE my RipRuck for my every day carry in construction across the nation. 5 star review was so close but these little rubber strands break so soon! The bootlace cord you can pull is excellent but the pocket remains closed unless you anchor your pull at the plastic closure. At this price point and reputation I expect bombproof latches/zippers/cords, as anyone would. I'm thinking D-cord string from a compound bow to lace through the plastic latch where the magnet holds the pocket closed. I should not have to modify a mystery ranch bag to make the pockets dependable. A waxed canvas bag with steel hardware of this would be 100%

Honestly there are so many things to love about this bag. It carries a good amount for the size w/out feeling over stuffed. Some people critique that its load carrying, weight distribution, padding/breathability are a bit lacking compared to other MR packs... and if you were considering this for a day hike pack I would agree... however where this pack excels is your every day, around town, to and from work/school back pack that addresses all the major needs associated with carrying around things for your daily commute. My only gripe about this pack is the lack of a water bottle pocket on the side. Yes you could put one inside the pack itself or in one of the rip pockets in the front... but then that additional space on the inside you ahve to account for. The other bags in the rip ruck line have atleast 1 water bottle pocket on the side and its such an easy thing they could have added to the 24 as well. why it was omitted I have no idea, but IMHO its the only thing that kinda ruins this bag for me.

Let me start by saying it is a great pack however I would have been happy to pay a few extra bucks for simple upgrades/basics. The front pocket could have easily had a zippered compartment which I think is a waste of space not putting it in also they could have easily put in water bottle pockets on the sides so you don't have to waste pack space for water bottles. Other than that it is a great pack which I would highly recommend.

Generally well thought out. Wish it had a water bottle pocket and that placement of the PALS webbing better accommodated attaching extra pockets.

First impressions: I am going to enjoy using this pack! Very well made and reenforced where needed. No bulk or extra weight, but provides reasonably quick access to storage space. If I had to gripe, I'd say it is a little on the small side for field use beyond 8-12 hrs and the water resistant zippers are slow and tedious to open. The inner partitions are great for EDC and separating a laptop or water bladder from hard items that might damage them. Not a lot of room for a jacket or mid layer except the thinnest 3-layer waterproof shell, but great to organize items for a field trip or flight. I'm looking forward to using this more and seeing if the zipper will relax a bit without loosing its integrity. I might have to buy its' larger brother for field use.

The Ruckus is a great pack; however why isn't there external water bottle storage/pouch?

Smaller than it looks, materials are cheaper than other bags I've handled from them. IMO, Space doesn't even compare to their 21L "urban assassin" bag -- a disappointment.
