Customer Reviews Stanley 18 oz Master Unbreakable Packable Mug

Stanley product description is inaccurate and customer service is dishonest. I purchased the master series vacuum mug, which was advertised as using a steel stopper so that the beverage never touches plastic. This was a key selling feature for me. When I got the product home and measured, it became clear that the plastic ring around the steel in the lid did come in contact with the beverage. I immediately contacted Stanley to inquire. 1. I contacted Stanley on 11/07. After not receiving a response by 11/12 I wrote again. 3. Finally, on 12/14 I received the response below. 4. I responded immediately on 12/14 and have yet to receive a response. "We have confirmed with our Product Management Team that the point of contact of the beverage will be the stainless steel part of the stopper and the silicone gasket only as advertised.". A) This was not "as advertised". I asked Stanley to provide me with a link to any advertisement or product copy that stated this, but they did not respond. The official Stanley video says: "The beverage in the container never touches plastic". The official Stanley product description and label says: "Steel-lined stopper so no plastic will contact your drink" Stanley, can you show us where you have advertised that the master series touches steel and silicon? Further, as consumers when we read that "the product has a steel lined lid to the beverage never touches plastic", the reasonable expectation is that the beverage only touches steel. We should not expect that the beverage may touch silicon, wood, sand, rubber, or any other material you do not mention in any written or spoken copy. Stanley advertises themselves as caring about their customers, but that has not been my experience.

Bought this at REI and while in the store I looked up a few reviews. I came across the only one on amazon that said after a few days the vacuum seal broke and water was getting in between the double wall insulation. Well I brought mine home, washed it and was drying it when I heard water pinging around in it. Sure enough there was water in between the walls of insulation. I was so bummed because I really liked the heavy duty finish and stout feel of this mug. Obviously Stanley has a manufacturing issue with this series.
