I wear an 8 or 8.5 in sneakers, but I always wear socks. The size 8 was the right length, but even in the 8.5 there was no room for any type of sock. The leather is very nice and soft, but I found the insole hard as a rock. It has very pronounced arch support, which I usually like, but the insole is so thick it takes up too much space in the shoe, leaving very little room for your foot. The toe box is too small, and the insole at the front is thin as paper so your toes have no cushioning at all. I have skinny, sensitive feet so someone younger may not be bothered by this. Because I couldn't wear a sock, the inside of the shoe rubbed uncomfortably at the seams.

This is my third pair of Taos shoes chosen because the arch construction supports my foot that has no arch due to PTTD. The quality of Taos shoes is consistently high so I am confident ordering on Zappos. I love Zappos because the website works accurately and delivery is so quick; 2 or 3 days.

These are the shoes I've been waiting for all my life. They're madly comfortable, and will be my new work shoes, except for extra dressy days. Zappos recommended going up a half size, and that recommendation was perfect. A half size bigger than usual made them fit just right.

Wow--great arch support!!! (I didn't need to add my own orthotic.) 5-star comfort: soft, good quality leather; grips the foot with terrific support; runs true to size; has a roomy toe box; is not too wide in the heel; and is not clunky. This is my first pair of Taos shoes, and Taos is now my new favorite! Will be buying more Taos!!! One caveat: if you need a very well-padded insole, you might want to add an extra foam insert.

Love the style of these shoes and the arch support is wonderful. They take just a bit to break in (no blisters, just a little stiff), and they do slip off my heels if I wear socks that aren’t super low “no-shows”. But I love the style and fit enough to overlook this small issue.

I haven’t worn these out of the house yet. I can tell you that the fit is great. I usually wear a 8.5 in Taos, and these fit perfectly. In Dansko I wear a 39, in Birkenstock a 38, and in Ecco a 39. The brown color is dark and rich—truly just what I was looking for. I have a pair of black leather sneakers from Ecco, but I wanted something different. I am looking forward to wearing them throughout winter here in the south.

This shoe is buttery soft...super comfy. However, I don't know if I could walk in them all day. The heel hits a little low. Hoping it won't rub. I think the softness of the leather will prevent that from happening. LOVE the pewter color - very versatile.

These shoes are just what I was looking for . . . lightweight but supportive and perfect with capris or shorts or denim. The fit was perfect.

These are my 4th pair of Taos sneakers! I love the clean look of these leather ones compared to the slightly more casual look of their canvas sneakers. This brand consistently makes really comfy shoes that are well-made and cute!

Cute & comfy shoe! Quite adorable, but just not my quite my style preference. Returned with ease thanks to Zappos incredible customer service, but no complaints on the fit and comfort, whatsoever!

a size to big

Very nice looking dark brown color. Immediately comfortable. Nice flat soles that I need for Tai Chi.

I really wanted this shoe to work. It’s absolutely gorgeous with buttery soft leather. The color is beautiful. However, it’s way too narrow in the toe box. I was sadly disappointed as I thought Taos was known for it’s roomy toe box.

Nice looking shoes! Unfortunately, the shoes were wider than expected and the heel slipped on one of my feet.

I had hoped to replace a pair of Taos "Freedoms"-- which the "Onwards" resemble, but Onwards are much more narrow, and stiffer. So sad, I loved my Freedoms!

I can't tell you about arch support since I couldn't keep my foot in the shoe long enough to tell. These are very narrow in height and long and narrow. If you have a relatively flat foot, it might work but between the height and tight fit near my bunion I couldn't wait to get the left shoe off my foot and back in the box. It looks pretty nice so if you think it will fit, try it. The leather will stretch but not in the right places for me.

These weren't right for me. The arch felt very supportive. Not what I'm used to but I didn't feel like it would be an issue long term. But they slipped off the back of my heel a little bit - enough that some time spent walking would probably be a problem.. This style has a pretty low back and it just didn't stay snug enough in the back. I did have to loosen the laces quite a bit to accommodate the front of my foot, so that could have contributed to the problem.

As some other reviewers have said, the heel counter didn't come up high enough. It hit at a weird place on my heel, not high up enough to hug the heel, but just in the back bony partl. Even though the size was right, my heels slipped when I walked, and it rubbed the back of my heel. I have two other pairs of Taos sneakers that come up a bit higher, and they fit perfectly (Difference shown in photo). So disappointed, because I wanted a pair of leather wear-with-everything sneakers for winter. Back they go.

I have loved Taos for years; it is my favorite brand. However, these shoes totally feel horrible. The foot bed is hard as a rock and made the foot set too high so the heel slipped. I removed it and they felt pretty good, like a minimalist shoe (and I like those). However, after wearing to work for one day, even with socks, I felt like I was standing on bricks, under my toe foot felt like it had a rock in it and my shins were killing me by the end of the day. I wish I could return them but I did wear them out for a day. Is there anyway to return something you actually tried? They are so cute but I am highly disappointed.

I ordered these shoes in white. When I opened the box (finally) I had been sent these shoes in black. First ever Zappos fail.

Returned them. Could not get my foot in them.
