These boots are beautiful and comfortable. One major flaw: Velcro is the only fastener. (Also, the Velcro was put on the wrong side of the boot. It should be located on the insides of the ankles rather than the outsides for ease of use.) It wouldn't have compromised the style too much to include a backup for when the Velcro stops working. Velcro has a short life.

I purchased these boots and was very excited to receive them. Having a wider foot I ordered a half size up, the boot fit in the foot well but the velcro at the ankle did not line up or close properly. If you have thin ankles and feet this is a beautiful, well made boot that I would totally recommend, but if your feet and ankles are on the wider side, I would try another style.

a bit snugger than expected when I have on a ski sock. I should have ordered a 1/2 size up. Very comfy with a great sole and good traction.

These are cute & sturdy - it hasn't snowed where I am yet this year so can't quite judge their utility. Be warned that while comfy and fit my feet in thick wool socks fine, these are only for folks with the very slimmest of ankles - I'm a runner and have human legs- I can just barely Velcro these.

I love these boots! I have several pairs of Merrells,but these are the most comfortable. Easy to walk in. A bit of a tug putting on. Otherwise an absolutely perfect fit. Not made for the super thick wool socks that you won't be needing. Oddly it's been in the 70's here and I haven't had a chance to test them in real snow.

Great look and fit but the Velcro connection point is not well designed. The boot does not close properly.

Pros: comfortable, warm and keep feet dry Cons: difficult to walk in. Bottom is like a platform and easy to roll your ankle. Was a little better in deeper snow

These run on the small side. I donated them to a local shelter.

Boots are almost impossible to put on as the opening is too narrow. After I manage to put them on, they are pretty comfortable. Will try to stretch the opening to make the boots usable.

I had to return these because it is too hard to get them on. The opening isn't long enough, I had to really hold the sides open and maneuver my foot into them and while they are really comfy when they are on, and I love the Velcro strap, I decided I don't want to struggle every time. If they came in Wide I would exchange them.

They seem to fit well, just feel kind of weird walking on them. And I am not quite sure about the side velcro closure. It seems to leave a gap in the shoe that if walking in some inches of snow, or slushy weather, will allow for the dampness to enter. I am waiting on different boot to arrive from Merrell and then I will make my decision and will update my review. I am not crazy about these but also, they are not so bad. For once it is a Merrell shoe that does NOT run small and has plenty of room in the toes.

Boots run narrow so had to send both pairs back. I always order two pairs in different sizes in case they run small. Both were very narrow. Had to return both.

I would size up a half-size if you are thinking of purchasing these boots. They just didn't fit my right foot right. Not sure that I liked the wrap around strap. If you are out in snow and slush and come in and take them off, you'd have to be careful that the strap didn't get all wet and dirty when you unwound it from around the boot. I do like the nylon part of the boot as it would keep your feet warm and they don't rub around the top of your calf. Sadly have to return these.

Cute boots but much too narrow to wrap around the leg.

Size runs small, up 1 size when ordering. Not very good traction in slushy snow, almost slipped to fall many times, can't recemound.

I ordered a half size larger than normal. Still cannot wear Sox as getting them on is very snug. Velcro sticks and is a chore to get on and off. Not consistent with my Merrell experience

I've had Merrill boots in the past and always thought it a good name. Not this time. Spend a bit more money and buy a leather boot. Walking through fields, the material was punctured by a stick or stem of something, now there is a hole in the material. At the arch support it feels like a hard metal or rubber piece that is not comfortable after walking a short distance. Whatever is in there digs into my arch. I don't think the Velcro will hold up as it already has dog hair and dried grass stuck in it. I do not recommend this boot.

Don't like it. It is tight at the top near the Velcro and only fair on waterproof

I wanted to like these. They were comfy like sneakers, and gave me an apx 1 inch lift. Whicu i appreciated. But, as winter boots, they were no warmer on my feet than regular old sneakers. No insulation at foot area. I had to return due to this. Also, they are clunky looking- i didnt mind the look but my husband immediately called them "your ugliest shoes."

These looked so cute. I just wish that they fit around the ankle. The Velcro doesn't hold the boot closed, so it won't be possible to wear these in true snow conditions without your feet getting wet.

I had read the reviews before purchasing and decided to ignore the negative reviews. I ordered the boots 1/2 a size up, and was confident they would be perfect. My feet and calves are average sized, so i didn't anticipate a problem getting them on. As soon as they arrived i unboxed them and slipped them on. Except i didn't actually slip them on. I struggled for ten minutes to try to find a way to shove my foot into the boot with no success. I absolutely could not get my foot into the opening. I'll call customer care and I'm sure they'll refund but i really don't want to go through that hassle. If you want to buy these despite the negative reviews, i urge you to go at least a full size up.

Run small and too snug. I'm a size 9 consistently and these fit more like an 8. The opening to slide feet into was also just really small. They are cute boots, really wish they worked for me!

Velcro step in boots could be a decent idea, IF the velcro adhesive strap is big enough to actually adjust them AND they are able to keep snow out. These boots totally defeat the purpose of keeping your feet warm/dry if you live someplace where you get more than a dusting of snow in the winter. For me, these were wasted money with a massive design flaw. Even adding a zipper would have been an improvement. CLEARLY the design team didn't test these in the snow and assumed they could sneak this product through. Design is a F, absolutely terrible.
