I bought this pair a couple of weeks today. Today they were put to the real test. We went out to h Th he deep deep forest on Colorado to find and cut down our Christmas tree. Ice, snow, steep hills, off trail...these showed kept me safe, warm and have an amazing grip. I am a new Merrell customer and this is my second pair and I am completely amazed by their quality. It's a snow boot but also such a comfortable hike boot. Fit perfect to size with a bit of extra room for thick socks. Love love love this boot!!!

I purchased these boots for the Winter pandemic. They are true to size with a little wiggle room for my wool socks. I promptly tried them on the treadmill to see how I like walking in them. They were really comfortable and light. I then tried them in my semi-heated sunroom since my feet were like ice and they really kept my feet warm. I can not comment on snow, ice or waterproof since I have only worn them indoors. Very happy so far.

Sizing and ordering on-line is always a challenge. I have a bunion and the forefoot of the boot accommodates it well. Still it felt a little big for a 7 (I wear a sneaker size 7). I found the boots to be warm enough for an hour outside chopping ice/snow as well as decent traction. I could drive with them which was one feature I was looking for with this boot. My biggest complaint about these is that despite a nice footbed (there is support under the arch) there is no medial ankle support which I found disappointing in a company that make hiking shoes. There is no alternative lacing holds to get the pull for support so the upper boot is laced tightly to get support which only sort of works. Merrell could improve its support and/or lace system on these to make them better and even more versatile.

These are going back because they are voluminous. It's not that they're wide exactly, they are more 'tall' in the front. Probably good for a wide foot with a high instep. I couldn't come close to snugging them up on my 'low volume' foot.

I ordered one size up from my shoe size and the heal slipped so I put on wool socks and heel fit but toe box seemed too tight. The ankle area was stiff and the style and quality were mediocre.
