Initially I liked the shoes, but after less than a year the inside lining around the heels wore away exposing the interior padding. I'll probably have to ditch the shoes after 15 months of use. NOT SATISFACTORY!

I just ordered a pair of the Gust 2 and will be sending them back. I've been wearing the Original Gusts for well over 1215 years and have loved them. These just don't fit right. I wear a size 15 and cannot locate an original of Gusts. Any suggestions on an alternative shoe? I'm a chef and I on my feet most all the time.

This was recommended to me by the Zappos website as an alternative to Merrill's Encore Nova -- a women's shoe -- which I've loved for years but, alas, has been discontinued. Assuming the site's recommendation to me was for another women's shoe, I ordered the Gust in my (woman's) size. The shoe I received was way too big, but the box only showed the size number and failed to mention it was MEN's sizing. So, I simply tried ordering a half-size down. Only after finding the replacement size was STILL way too big, did I think to scrounge around in the shoe itself for a label. Stitched in the lining about midway back I finally found the label--and only then learned that what I had was MEN's sizing. The site algorithm needs fixing. While it's nice that it recommends similarly designed shoes when what the customer searched for is an out of stock or discontinued line, the site should be programmed such that any CHANGE in GENDER SIZING in the recommended shoe will both be noted and FLAGGED TO THE CUSTOMER.

I usually get size 8W (women’s). I ordered that size. But what I got is like 2” longer than my old shoes of the Same style and size.

I bought the biggest size I usually buy (9.5) and they were marked correctly but they were so small I couldn't get them on my feet. It felt like they were mis-labeled.

Ugly shoe, runs large, no arch support, cheaply made, and feels like plastic (not leather). Returned them. Very disappointed in Merrill as a company. Used to love their high quality footwear. What happened?!?

Felt big all over.

The shoe was a big disappointment. Zero arch support and runs big. Feels light and cheap. Am returning.

I’ve been a fan of the original Encore Gust, buying many pairs over the years. Unfortunately the changes to the Encore Gust 2 affect fit and comfort. Merrell now offers a regular and a wide version….The regular narrower and the wide is wider than the original. Also they replaced the instep leather trim with a mesh fabric that is uncomfortable. Please bring back the Original Gust Encore!

I wear a size 10 normal width, but my right foot was extremely injured in an accident decades ago and is now closer to a size 9 triple wide. I could not get either foot (the normal sized left one or the misshapen right one) into these shoes. There was no way to discern comfort because I could not get my feet into them to even try them on.
