I bought these shoes for trail running, yes, but I also love wearing trail runners for hiking and some mountaineering. I wore these to summit Middle Teton and I loved them! They've held up well and they handle the terrain and mileage well! They even did pretty great on scree and boulder fields.

Light weight, comfortable and they look great! Haven't been on any trails yet, but have worn them daily since I got them for daily running around and walks...my feet are HAPPY!

Not only are these shoes stylish, but they're also extremely comfortable. I've enjoyed using them as a multi use shoe, and definitely can be just that. I've never gotten more compliments on my shoes :)

I've had Merrell shoes before and found them to be rather enjoyable, reliable and high quality. With my old Merrells on the way out I decided to buy these Skyfire X shoes and have been wearing them a month already. I found them to be very light and yet durable and a pleasure to walk with. My only issue is that they get dirty easy and so I've had to clean them in the sink and dry them a few times as spring arrives and the water/mud season is here.

Great trail shoe. Stable and sure footed even in Wyoming ice and snow.

The shoes were surprisingly light, given that they are trail runners. Performing nicely for the first several runs.

Tight and not much cushion. However for the miles I've racked up on these; I'll consider them a success and we'll worth the while. My plans to climb Mt. Washington with a woman who ghosted me went not down (rather up) so I'll just keep getting new shoes. Just remember: You're Best only to take One footstep at a time

First, I have 50miles in my skyfires and they are in a rotation with 4 other shoes from various brands. I am a forefoot striker. Traction 5stars...fit and lockdown 5 stars. Cushioning 3.5 stars. The cushioning feels "ok" but it is neither soft enough to feel soft, not firm enough to feel responsive. I have Asics Fuji Trabuco Lytes which have nearly the same stack height and the midsole in that shoe feels both more comfortable on the strike and more responsive on lift off. But....I still love these shoes and I will buy them again. They offer a different feel that is reminiscent of the original nike Terra Kiger and that was a great 10mile shoe. This shoe has made me want to try the long sky, but I think that shoe either needs a different midsole foam or more cushioning.....I'm a bit unsure if I want to invest in testing them. The Skyfire is a shoe to buy though, the price and value alone make it a winner.

How to these compare to the All Out Crush 2? I bought the Monumentous Trail running shoe thinking they were similar and they were not. In my opinion the All Out Crush 2 were/are the best yet at shedding water and traction. Just looking for feedback on the similarities between All Out Crush 2 and this model of trail shoes.

These look even better in person, maybe one of the coolest looking running shoes I've ever seen.
Sadly the toe box is made for... ballerinas? 13M is my size and usually Merrells fit fine, but the M here stands for 'miniscule' in the width department.

I ended up returning them. Length was fine but toe box was a little narrow for me. I have a pair of ASICS and Brooks that fit fine in a size 10, but these felt a little small. I haven't ever had good luck sizing up so I am on to another shoe.

Great shoe but poor fit. Don't understand why the MTL Skyfires are not available in 12.5. 13.0 were too large so I had to return them. Now after a few runs I'm living with the 12.0 but they are too small to be comfortable with my foot hitting the front.

I bought these thinking that they'd be a good train running shoe for here in the Northeast since they're touted as being tested in the White Mountains, but I was really disappointed. My first time using them, they slipped on a number of the rocks on the trail; any time I had to counter weight during my run, I was losing traction. The short of it is, if you actually are running in the Whites (or anywhere in the Northeast that has a lot of rocky terrain) opt for something else if you'd like to be surefooted when running (or even hiking) on the trails.
