These boots are great! I especially love the lacing system! So far, the traction seems excellent. I wish they were a bit taller. Even the smallest amount of snow gets right inside them.

First I had to returned the first pair due to sizing(always an issue). But besides that what an awesome shoe!! Went on a 7mile hike in the snow (I'm from New England)the day after I got them, didn't take long for them to break in! Awesome grip! Kept my feet decently warm through the hike. Recommend 100%

I have had these for a little while and I want to love them and have tried everything to fix the lace issue. The won't hold the tongue in and then just sit right at bend of my ankle. So there is no ankle support. Just covers the skin. I really wanted them to have the ankle support but I think the way they designed the angle of the lace loop there's really nothing that would fix it. So now I'm stuck saving yo try and replace them with something with ankle support and the grip. They are basically a speedcross with extra fabric and more $.

I bought these in the purple color about a year ago. I've used em backpacking, day hiking, summit scrambles, and just around town. I have the low top speed cross and have had them for years without issue. These are great overall, very comfortable and great traction. However, the design of the tongue and speed lace system kinda misses the mark. The laces slide down to the bend in the foot and the tongue kinda just flops forward. This effectively makes them a low top with a little ankle padding. There's no ankle support. My next pair of high tops will be Salomon, but probably traditional laces.

It doesn't fit nicely around the ankles, bit loose and the lace doesn't secure it right and using it for a while starts forming blisters. I doubt I will be using it.

Thought these were very comfortable initially but after one short hike I found the toe box too narrow. Why don't you make a wider option in your shoes?!?! I'm sick of having to wear men's footwear because I need a wide toe box. Going back to Vasque.

Bought these in September. I ignored the negative reviews as I was desperate for a new pair of hikers before a big trip and everything, everywhere was low stock. The ankle/tongue system on these shoes are whack. Make zero sense. There is nothing to keep the tongue secure to your foot. Looks so silly, debris get in the shoe, and you lack major support. I'm an avid Salomon user, and these were an unexpected disappointment from such a great company. Don't do it. Don't buy these shoes. Take my advice.

I've worn these for 2 months now as my old Salomons finally kicked the bucket. I should have read the reviews but have always looked to Salomon for my "go to" trail needs. First of all the entire point of a high top hiker is you need or want more ankle support. These give less than your usual low hiker. There is a flexible groove right at the back of the ankle that completely gives when you walk. The lacing system is horrible. Difficult to get tight enough and it has no place to secure the extra so the loop flops around like your lace came untied. The lacing also loosens as you walk. The tongue does not secure within the front of the sho AT ALL. You constantly feel like your shoe is untied and you might walk out of it. Poor design Salomon. They do however have the Salomon durability, are waterproof (but only as far up as a regular shoe) and look great. I've gotten many compliments on them.

Very comfy and light but won't buy again. The lacing works on their shoes but on the boots it basically a: looks terrible and b: allows snow and water (debris) to get into the boot. How did they not see this as an issue. Stuck with them now.

I am a women's narrow 8.5. My foot is 10 inches long. I purchased an 8.5 and they are MASSIVE MONSTER SHOES! At first I thought Zappos accidentally sent me a men's 8.5. I would say these are at LEAST a half size larger than stated.. probably more like a full size larger. Also, the way these fasten is very strange. I read another review that explained that the tongue kept flopping around on her hike and I can totally see what she is saying based on trying on the XL shoe.

I love these boots; they were perfect right out of the box. Unfortunately, after only four times hiking in them, the seam is ungluing at the toe bend/crease on both shoes. I am returning to Zappos for a refund. Otherwise, these were the best fit, and handled so well on varied terrain.

To preface it, I am a longtime Salomon speedcross fan. Have owned and worn the Speedcross shoes for many years, Gore-Tex and non Gore-Tex versions. I was super excited with this boot. Very comfortable out of the box but as many others have noted, poor quality that I've never experienced on any of my previous shoes. I ordered these in November 2020 and after a month or two, seams started coming apart, where the boot bends. As others have also noted, boot needs another eyelet. I need to pull the laces pretty tight, but then it puts pressure on the top of the foot. Put in a warranty claim, do appreciate Salomon's customer service and standing behind their products, but would LOVE to see a revised version of this boot. Hopefully they can also make the upper with a different material to make it a little less bulky.

I bought these to replace my previous Salomon hiking shoe. I've bought numerous Salomon shoes over the years and have loved them all, particularly the quicklace design. There is a design flaw in these shoes. The lace sticks in the grommets nearest the ankle, so it's difficult to get it to a comfortable tightness. The same problem exists when loosening the lace to take the shoe off. The lace sticks in the grommets. It's very frustrating. I'm shocked this design passed the testing phase.

My husband got these for me as a gift, as I suffer with the cold and often find it difficult to undo laces on hiking boots when I get home; despite wearing gloves. I therefore found the lace system fantastic, and the boot an extremely comfortable and light fit, with a superb overall design. However, within weeks they were letting water in. I've exchanged them twice thinking it was bad luck and now my third pair have failed as well. Very disappointing, as if they kept the water out they would be a superb product.

This is the second pair of Salomon "waterproof" boots I have bought that LEAK!! The first pair I bought leaked within 2 weeks of purchase -- the Vaya boot which I really liked until...I next bought the Cross Hike Mid GTX and in less than a year they started leaking too! Both pairs leaked right at the sole/upper join. Very disappointed and annoyed. I will not be purchasing Salomon again.

I loved my old Solomon Hiking boots, I cannot say the same for these. They started coming apart at the seams in less than a month. You would expect a pair of boots with a high price point to last. I've owned several pairs of Salomon hiking boots. I got many compliments on these boots very stylish. I'm extremely disappointed that they're falling apart after in less than one month of wear.

I bought this shoes because their waterproofness. after first uses, the plastic layer on the side start to form waves and after few weeks, it peels off ! so for waterproofness thank you, there are not at all! The shoes absorb all the water right now. For this price ... you can have really better hiking shoes like Sportiva

On a positive note, these shoes require almost no break in time. They are comfortable straight out of the box. Unfortunately, rather than getting more comfortable with wear they fall a part quickly. I took my shoes on a 4 day trip on the AT and they didn't hold up well. The seams on the outside busted quickly (see photos). The right insole also broke and the outer part separated from the inner part of the insole (see photo). It felt like I was stepping on a hard rim with every step. This is kind of tough to describe but I ended up deciding to take the insole out entirely to avoid the discomfort. Very disappointed these shoes couldn't hang in there for a short backpacking trip.

These are the lightest most comfortable hiking boots. I worked them ONE time on a 1.5 hour hike in Laguna Beach and the seams on the outer edge of both pinky toes has departed! I'm SO mad! Reached out to Back Country and now have to go through their long warranty process! I just want a refund!
