Great shoe, but fit was tight. If you’re going to get these, get one size larger. Half size would not suffice, especially if you plan to wear a thick boot sock for long hikes. These shoes do not breathe, so keep this in mind.

Phenomenon shoes! You won't be disappointed.

DH liked these lightweight and nicely made hiking boots, but complained of a "bump" under the ball of his foot. Got a second pair just to check and it was the same. I believe the tread pattern, which has a fairly wide gap on the sole under the ball of the foot, is the cause of the "bump". Others may not have the same experience, but FWIW getting a second pair did not remedy the issue.

This was the second Salomon Odyssey Mid GTX my husband tried. Both pairs showed what we perceive to be a defect: the upper metal "shoelace hook" around which the lace wraps popped out of this pair (inner, right shoe - I didn't take a photo this time) around Day 12 of use. Shoes were comfortable, lightweight, and would have suited husband's needs if the shoelace hook was affixed differently. An online search shows instances of others having similar challenges with these boots. Perhaps Salomon will shift the way the shoelace hooks are inserted and secured to the boot.
