Bought it for a casual soft shell, around town and light hiking. I'm 5'9" with an athletic build. Not huge arms but broad shoulders. The arms were too slim. Had to return. Feel like the Large wouldn't be a good fit so went elsewhere. Nice product if it fits!

This was a gift for my dad who walks in the cold. We hope this will reduce the wind chill.

Good for wind and rainy days. Put a sweatshirt underneath if it's really cold and you're gold.

Good for temps between 35-55, warmer temps if cloudy and/or windy. 55 with calm winds and sunny, it would be a little too warm. It would be nice if there was another two inches in length on the torso. Im by no means tall, and it seems a little short there, that's the only reason I didn't give it five stars. If north face made pants out of this material, I'd be all over them. My job as a freight pilot, requires standing outside in all the elements, these would also be great for winter walks/hikes, dog walks or running errands. North Face, I challenge you to make this happen!

This jacket is my daily go to. It's very warm in my opinion for a soft shell. Looks great.

Love the look and feel of the fabric, but the fit between the shoulders restricts my arm movement. This makes it uncomfortable to wear while sitting, especially driving. the sleeve length is perfect, and I love how it looks, but it just does not work for me because of the fit at the shoulders.

I wear a size large 99.9% of the time. But, this jacket is just too restrictive between the shoulders. It is very noticeable and uncomfortably restrictive when sitting/ driving. and when I lift my arms, the entire jacket would lift with it. The coat fits perfect everywhere else. I like the fabric, and it looks great on. I just had to return it, because of the shoulder flexibility. I am going to try a size larger. It really seems to be like a great jacket.

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for, only the XS is still too big for me, a 5'5" 128lb woman. I'm all about extra room, but it was still too long in the arms and it just felt like I was wearing someone else's jacket. Northface, PLEASE make this in women's sizes - we need this jacket too!!

I use this jacket daily, doesn't matter if its -30 or +30 its warm, breathable and lightweight. Great as an outer shell too while hiking in rain or snow.

This North Face Bionic 2 hoodie (Men's Medium) is a mix of good and bad. It has very good material and construction. It is a very nice jacket. I wish it worked for us. But the sizing is off significantly. Be careful of reviews. This jacket is not sized correctly. There is no room for layering, as any skier would do. Wear it only for moderately cool days and no layering. You will not be able to close it with layering. The sleeves are right, but the mid-section cannot take layers. The hips were also too close even with the draw cord all the way out. Just no extra moving room. We tried this for my wife and myself. I am 5' 9". My wife is 5'7". We are both athletic and by no means heavy. We tried the men’s medium for my wife because women's jackets tend to be very tapered to the body and permit little layering. For both of us the jacket was too close to the body. We are fit so I can only imagine how it would be if you carried extra weight. I don't know who they used for the design specs, or if North Face even tested this jacket on any skiers or athletic people at all. It seems to be a very obvious and easily correctable mistake. We really like the looks and construction and wanted them to work. But it is simply unusable for either of us. Returned.

As another reviewer said when ordering the color (grey with white logo) the color was significantly darker and the logo was as dark as the jacket and not a white logo. The photo does not align with the jacket

The color is what I want but the cut doesn't fit well after pulling up the zipper. The material is harder than my other NorthFace jacket (similar function). I returned it.

Nice windproof and warm shell. Fit was good except the sleeve length which was too long. No wrist closure to help seal out draft and adjust for sleeve length.

I bought this softshell jacket along with one from Columbia. This one was thicker, which may or may not be good for you. I was looking for something more breathable. Plus, this fit me a little too tight.

Bought this coat as other reviewers had described it as a 40-60 degree coat and I didn't have attire to match that particular weather. I still don't after buying this coat. What does this coat do well? It is fantastic at wind blocking. When wearing layers, it can prevent the wind from hitting your core very nicely. I'm also a big fan of the hood - it blocks wind just as well as the coat does and when combined with the neck zipper, makes it difficult for wind to go down your neck. What can it improve on? Almost everything else. For starters, this coat is thin - usually a good thing, but from the way the arms are sewn, your skin is directly against the material that holds no warmth. In effect, your arms feel the outside temperature almost like wearing nothing at all. Continuing with the sleeves, the cuffs do not have zipper expansions on them and they're rather narrow. I have difficulties accessing my watch with the way the cuffs are sewn - much less trying to pull a shirt down the sleeve. The fabric used is also very stiff and noisy despite its appearance. The behavior is somewhat reminiscent of jeans laid out to dry. Wearing it around has had no effect on the noise, making me believe it is not factory starch. In short, this coat might be a great summer night windbreaker. I don't see much application beyond that given the stiffness and the lack of general warmth and would return it if possible.

Ordered as a replacement for a previous Bionic jacket. The "cut" is much different and the sleeves feel out of place. Hood is way too big and no cuff adjustments. Material is changed also. Doesn't feel like a "improved" version of the jacket but something that I won't wear as much as my old one. I'd recommend a similar item from Patagonia.
