Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to mourn the loss of our long-term relationship with Ghost, my first running love: Supportive, steady, easygoing (and easy on the eyes), Ghost and I traveled through long runs and short in all seasons for many years. With the advent of 12, something seemed amiss?both support and that easygoing stance were on the wane. Was it me? Was I simply aging? One fine night, I dug out an old 11 and flew in the way I was accustomed to us doing with my beloved. And so we limped along. But now, with 13, I feel nothing except emptiness where once there was passion. And so we commend our once-upon-a-time dear one to the return box, and hope they find a new love on the other side. tl;dr: Dangit.
