Fit is great - my son liked this one best as it wasn't so bulky. We live in South Dakota (it does get cold here). Yes, it is a thinner winter coat, but it has the omni-heat reflective fabric on the inside, and has windproof fabric on the outside. He can fit a hoodie or fleece underneath if it is super cold (below zero), but unless your kid is spending hours outside (in which case hopefully they are being active and therefore staying warm), this coat fits the bill for us. He's also used a thinner North Face winter coat in the past and stayed plenty warm. One thing to note, the pictures don't show it, but the one arm has COLUMBIA printed along the length of it. It didn't seem to bother my son.

I ordered a XS and a XL came in an XS labeled bag. I was disappointed bc the style is nice and the colors bright which I prefer when my kids are sledding amongst others.

This jacket is "thin" however my son does not care for bulky jackets. We purchased a Columbia Fleece to wear under this almost as an insert and he loves it. It is water proof and wind proof. It does have the reflective heat material in the inside so that helps keep him warm. He wore it outside in the snow recently and was comfortable and warm. So if you purchase this as a winter jacket simply order the fleece as we did!

Even cuter in real life on my 5 year old. Not as long in the back as I'd like but fits perfectly! Well made. Zips easy. Great pockets!

Love the design. Hate the fit. My son is not "skinny" nor is he "chunky". I first ordered in a medium. And it was huge! I return for a size small and now it fits snugaround his chest / waist yet it is long... My child is a size 8 on average size 10 if the item runs small.

I ordered two of these for my kids and am sending them back. There is virtually no padding/insulation in this coat. Might be ok if you are moving a lot and building body heat, or maybe in Southern states, but definately not good for kids playing outside in Northern weather. I'm really disappounted since there are no stores nearby and now I have to pay to shop back. The description really should mention the lack of insulstion. Aside from that, the jacket does look cool and stylish. The one that is white/grey/blue is way more purple than blue, so careful if your boy cares about that.

This jacket is actually bright purple on top, not burgundy as photographed. My son said no way.

I agree with the other reviewers. The jacket is way too thin for northern winters and the purple is very purple! Which is not what it appears on the website. Returning.

I bought this coat a few weeks ago for my son, as it was listed as winter and snow/ski. Now that the weather has finally turned cold, I agree completely with the other review - this coat is not warm enough for winter. I wish that review had been posted before purchasing, as I cannot return it now since worn. While the coat itself appears very nice, it's really more of a jacket and not warm enough for cold winters. I'm disappointed for sure.

Ordered the purple thinking it was just the zipper like in the picture but everywhere you see dark grey is purple!!!!! Not like description says at all!!!
