I needed a good base layer for outdoor cycling during Ohio Winters. Temps can get anywhere down to around 0 (I don't ride once it hits 0 or below), but January & February we're up in the teens and twenties. I wanted something that was Merino wool (for the superior moisture wicking), and something that can keep you warm. I find synthetics like polyester or others are great at one or the other but not both. The Men's Classic thermal base layer bottoms are great, they're comfortable, not too "clingy," (fit true to size), the wick away sweat, and they keep me warm while riding. Kinda pricy, but I expected that when dealing with Merino wool. I pair these with the Intraknit Base Layer crew top.

I need just that extra layer on colder days in the south. Keeps my legs warm to keep up with my upper body when wearing a flannel shirt or sweater. Great under dress pants as well as jeans

Great fit and appears to be be quality craftsmanship. I will be testing in Iceland in early April, so performance has yet to be fully evaluated.

I am always concerned about how bottoms fit because I'm a lean guy with long legs. This base layer bottom fit like a warm glove. The pictures of models and their height and weight really help me select just the right size and I am always delighted when I first slip into a Smartwool item and it feels like it was made for me. Thanks for your attention to detail and customer response when I have any questions.

I am new to cold weather clothing. I am a Project Manager that often has to go out to the field to work. Normally, I do this in the southeastern USA (think Florida) where it doesn't much get any colder than 50F. I was called to a project in North Dakota and after speaking with my site personnel about the impending -20F weather, they assured me I needed better clothing. I purchased 1 set of base-layer clothing, based on their recommendations, and I am so glad I listened to them. I was warm and toasty the entire time outdoors for 5 days straight. I will definitely be getting SmartWool for all of my future cold weather needs. "#sweepstakes

Finally broke down and bought a proper Merino wool base layer for snowshoeing and hiking in cold weather and won't ever go back. So comfortable and don't get overheated even if I leave them on after the hike as they are breathable and super soft.

Great as tights around the house and as an underlayer when outside in winter weather. Stretches fine. I bought a medium and a small and they both fit me very well. Great quality. Highly recommend.
