Our little one loves them! He can put them on himself which is a big deal for a toddler!

I bought these for my 20 month old granddaughter so she could begin to learn how to walk in the woods on a trail. A huge success. So easy off and on with the velcro closure. Sturdy and stable for a beginning walker. I'm a big fan of Merrell, so I had a high level of confidence.

We 'splurged' for Christmas and got these for our son and we have been so glad we got a good boot for him. Love the Bare Steps outsole and he gravitates towards puddles. These are water resistant enough that we don't have to worry about soaking his socks when he splashes in puddles. He wears wide in all his shoes thus far - so the wide + larger toe box has left plenty of room to grow into these. As a parent, the BEST part of the boots is the faux laces and the velcro closure. he doesn't realize they are velcro so he doesn't undo them and they are SUPER easy to get on and off with his thicker socks. Merrell and Saucony are the brands that have proven to work for our guy!

easy to put on (laces are fake - its actually a wide velcro strap) and seem very comfortable and well cushioned. great sole / tread unlike some kids shoes that have 5 thin lines for "traction"

Our kiddo started walking when she was 17 months old and these were one of her first pairs of shoes and they are, by far, our favorite. These fit similar to Bobux and have a wide toe. Our kiddo wears mostly thicker Bombas socks and these shoes fit over them no problemo, where as with other shoe brands she can only wear thin socks. The Velcro closure is genius; the laces stay tied and in place, so there's no tripping over laces to worry about, and the Velcro makes putting these on and off a breeze. Even easier than Bogs pull on boots! We loved these so much we got another pair for her in spring. As for use, our daughter wears these daily on neighborhood walks and at the playground (one of the few shoes that doesn't get knocked off when we put her in and out of the baby swings). When she hikes, she can do up to 3 miles and she's now 21 months old; these are my fave for her to wear because they are such great support for new walkers!

These are the best kid shoes ever! The hidden Velcro over the laces is genius! Super easy for my daughter to put on herself.

Excellent fit even for my narrow footed toddler. The Velcro is strong enough to stay put, but he can still get them off himself.

Absolutely love these shoes. Worth the price. They are actually Velcro's even though they look like they tie. Great quality, they will last as long as my little one fits in them and then I will get more!

My two year old LOVES these boots! They're super easy to slip on and off - the hidden velcro is key. They're apparently very comfortable for little feet and they look adorable for hiking outdoors and even with somewhat dressy outfits.

I really like these for my toddler! They are great for mornings where the grass is still wet at his forest s hill. Only complaint is that the Velcro loses its "grab" after not too long and they don't close as well as I'd like.

Good little boot for trails on the North Shore in MN. Was hoping they would be lined/cozier. I think the barefoot style is ideal for uneven terrain so small children have a better sense of what is beneath their feet. These also got soaking wet (the call to step right into Gooseberry River was too great) which didn't seem to cause any problems or damage to the boots.

Not a warm boot, but great looking! Easy for my 4 year old to put on and off himself.

The velcro on the shoes was terrible.The shoes kept opening up.

These boots checked off the boxes for being bendable and stylish. So sad they started falling apart in less than a week. I was hoping my son would be wearing these for at least 6 months.

They are very stiff. I was hoping for a much more thin-soled, flexible shoe. Very cute and well made though.

Previously bought this shoe in a smaller size, but my kid out grew them. They lasted months and still looked great when they became too small. Our experience with the new pair has been completely different. After just a couple of months, the Velcro doesn't work so the shoe just won't stay on. The decorative laces are also worn through in spots. We've had nothing but positive experiences with Merrell in the past but the quality on these shoes is just awful unfortunately.

At first I was really happy with these boots. Great grip, warm, and the quality seemed equivalent to our other Merrill bare steps boots. But fast forward about 2 months and the Velcro no longer sticks. The boots constantly come open. I expected more.

These are NOT real leather as described. They will not wear in like real leather, and they are plenty stiff as is. I'm pretty disappointed that these are advertised as leather both on the website and in the shoe.

I bought a pair and they felt good, two days later the right shoe squeaks, yes squeaks loud. I will never buy another pair.

These shoe laces don’t come undone. They are just decoration. You can’t open the shoe wider to get the foot in so my son with high instep is unable to put his feet in them. Poor design.
