I purchased these to replace my Vertex that I've worn the last 2 years. Initially they felt like a good fit. After a couple hours, the snug fit became uncomfortable. It's unfortunate that once an item is worn it is not exchangeable. A 5-10 minute try on is not the same as wearing them for hours. When I've purchased the same size of merrell boots for a few years now. I finally found one that is a little off.

It's so hard to find good boots in Wide widths so I hated to return these. First - the toe boxes were outrageously low and put significant pressure on the top my toes. That was with very thin socks and the provided insoles which - Merrell can call Comfortbase all they want, it's a flat, thin piece of foam with 0 arch support or heel support. Sole is pretty hard too. If I worked all day in a transfer station or something and needed my feet wrapped in iron, maybe - otherwise these were harsh.

I always buy 2 pair or more for warehouse work then alternate so they dry out completely. With this model I experienced a more narrow fit causing blistering on the outside of each big toe. After 110 days of use the brown pair have both split above the heal. The black pair has not. The wider platform and sole durability have been good. I expected true to size and better quality from Merrell but these have disappointed.
