This is exactly the boot I've been looking for - an english saddle colored leather boot with height, but comfortable to wear. The length makes it great for folks 5'4" and under. This shoe is somewhere between "true to size" and "half a size smaller." I am an 8.5, but was worried that the toe box would be too tight and would not stretch. I ended up going with a size 9 from a different website, to be on the safe side. However, once I started walking outside of the house with the size 9, it had too much slippage. It is difficult to tell whether a shoe will stretch enough to be comfortable. I wish I had stuck with the 8.5!

I love everything about these boots! I am petite at 5’0”, so the shaft height was perfect (for a change). I have such a hard time finding a shorter shaft and boots that don’t hit me at the knee. They are excellent quality and the leather is soft. The style is very classic and the heel height is great, generally flat, but does have a little lift. The only issue I had was with the width due to my bunions, so I had to stretch them with thick socks, a leather conditioner and a hair dryer. But once I did that, they fit perfectly and comfortable for all day wear. I don’t like boots with zippers and had no issues getting them on or off. They also fit great in the calf, even a little loose, so no issues wearing with skinny jeans. This is my 4th pair of Madewell shoes (the others are loafers), they are so classic and fit me really well.

Way too tight around the calf. Also the heel was extremely stiff and uncomfortable. I even ordered a half size larger. Too bad, these are very attractive boots.

A boot without a zipper couldn’t pull it on.
