I bought these a couple weeks ago and I have been trying really hard to like them, but I don't. They look really cool, but I don't think they will hold up like their other models. I will say they are comfortable, all Salomon shoes are. Where I think they won't hold up is the area near the ball of the foot is a weird plastic material over mesh. (See photo). This part of the shoe bunches up when I walk and also makes a "popping" sound. It is extremely annoying. I own 6 pairs of Salomon shoes and this is my least favorite and their my new ones, so I'll just have to deal with it. They're also narrow, which is common for Salomon shoes.

Purchased this shoe to replace a trusty but worn Solomon odyssey Triple Crown magic. feels great to get back to the quick lace system bullet proof rubber toe and super stable platform for cruising through the woods. Been using Salomon for 2 decades. great shoe!

I've been wearing these as my primary shoes for about a month now. biking to and from work in them, on my feet for 8 hours a day. Once they are on these feel solid to do just about anything I would ask of them. I have a longer arch and as a result, find a wider footbed more comfortable. The height of the tooth on the tread has not interfered with the mountain bike pedal studs on my bike (a problem I have found to be irritating with other trail type shoes) and the orientation of the lace storage system (the pocket on the tongue of the shoe opening from the top rather than from the bottom) which is a small feature in the grand scheme of things but makes a huge difference in daily use. Overall this is a representation of impressive engineering and design supported by stellar execution. And I would like to add that I would not include this next part if I did not like the shoes enough to think that further iteration of the design could make them even better. That being said, If I were to identify some areas for improvement; The main one would be that the inside on the tongue has begun to roll inward, creating a fold and pressing onto the top of the foot, very uncomfortable. Because of the design of the shoe, with the tongue being stitched to the body, adjusting this fold while wearing the shoe requires fishing in between the top of your foot and the "roof" of the shoe and trying to tuck the fabric back to where it should be. I think this is happening because when the untethered part of the tongue, possibly 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch after the stitching which joins the tongue to the body of the shoe gets worn (i.e. heats, cools, gets wet, drys out) the fabric softens up and loses structural rigidity resulting in it rolling back towards the point anchoring it into place. I have also noticed that the rubber toggle on the lace has begun to slide out of place recently, not overly concerning but definitely of note. I liked the model so much that I bought the GTX version as well and they are great, however, they are genuinely very warm to wear as work shoes as they hold a great deal of heat especially noticeable if you are also wearing pants.

I have worn several versions of Salamon shoes over the years. It has been mainly for serious walking and trail running. The XA Wild is lighter and is engineered bettter for my foot. It has a built in orthotic which needs to be better highlighted as a feather of their shoe. Great shoe.

These are extremely comfortable! I’ve worn them almost daily for over a year at work and they’re still supportive and comfy! There are a few wear spots on the outside, but nothing too noticeable and the wear doesn’t affect performance.

I’ve had these for a year or so and I would definitely get them again. I have run, hiked, biked and worn them as my every day shoe.

Literally the best shoe I have ever used. Super comfy. My foot feels locked in and ready to move quick or go on a long adventure. I purchased one pair and quickly after receiving them bought gore Tex version. Then I realized if it's my favorite shoe I may as well have them in every color just in case;)

I have been wearing Salomon shoes for about 20 years and use them for hiking, backpacking and everyday wear. The XA Wild was a new model for me and has proven to be another great shoe. True fit to size, and the most comfortable shoes for my feet.

So just FYI, VERY narrow IMHO.. I have a lot of DJD in my R great toe, that refers pain to my instep… but a great feel, and the exact tread I need.

Great mid-foot side protection. 3D Chassis is very supportive over uneven terrain. The upper is gentle against the hack of the heal allowing for longer treks. Robust features for the weight.

For those of us shopping for the most comfortable all-around shoe in one of those very physical and "special" professions, usually requiring all black attire, this is the new go too. I like these better than the Ultra 4's because of the added durability to wear these day in and day out. The easy lace system is an upgrade to even Solomons older systems, and the shoe was even MORE cushioned than I expected them to be - allowing me to stand much longer in the deep hallway or open door. ;-) And the super durable toe casing highlights an incredibly well designed shoe. Highly recommend for the professional setting or even avid hiker. Can't beat these.

After extensive research, I found that there is no shoe offered by Salomon, that compares to a previous Wings Pro shoe I wore for years and repurchased, except the XA Wild. This shoe has an superior round toe design with inside toe support and heel cushion. The gripping balance is outstanding and after hiking for several hours, I experienced no foot fatigue.

I've been wearing XA Pro 3Ds as my hiking and walking shoe for 8 years, but couldn't find any new ones in a good size and color. So I tried these. The XA Wild are noticeably lighter than the Pros, the material in front is thinner yet more repellant. Somebody mentioned that this material folds a little funny at the side of the foot. I observed this as well but after a couple of days I wasn't aware of it anymore, probably broke it in. Overall very similar feel and grip as the Pro 3D.

I'm a long time user / wearer of the Xa pro and I decided to give these a try to replace some of my worn out shoes. The sole of the shoe struck me as being a bit weird. On one hand they grip just fine, provide traction where I need it and in the same breath they felt noticeably more minimalistic than my other xa models. Normally if something has the perceived feeling of being more minimalist it comes at the cost of durability. So far in the few months I've had these there's absolutely no noticeable degradation of the sole. I also really like the way the lacing works on these and I hope Salomon does this with more of there shoes. After you tighten the shoes the excess lacing tucks into the garage on the top of the tongue. This was awesome because on every pair of Salomons I've had the excess lacing would normally work its way free at some point, with it being on top it's been staying put. Lastly I also love the complete rubber toe cap. I ended up liking the shoe so much I bought a second pair.

I bought these as knock around shoes and light hikers. Had a few weeks and done multiple hikes plus worn them around for errands and such! I really like them! Very protective, look cool and should be good for snow traction. Big fan!

I bought these shoes in CO before a 8 mile rocky hike and they worked great right out of the box. Tried them out on a 10mile hike in slushy snow and I was actually shocked my feet stayed as dry as they did. The only time I felt wet was when there was slush resting on the mesh part of the shoe for to long. So I wouldnt call these water proof but they are very water resistant and perfect for hiking in most conditions. They are stable, very comfortable and stylish. There is barely any breakin required and they seem to get better and better with time. One of my favorite part of this shoe is that you can loosen the lace up and slide you foot in and go - the tongue of the shoe keeps your feet 'locked in'. This is perfect for sliding on and running out the door to walk the dog. Highly recommend these!!

The shoes fit and felt great. However, the lacing system broke on one shoe within a couple dozen times of wearing them. Salomon offered to send me a new lacing "kit". I felt it was pretty ridiculous for shoes of this price point to have a problem so quickly. I'll likely stick with shoes that have regular laces that I can easily replace on my own.
