I bought these last month for strictly trail running, and now I hit the gym, the grocery store and even run errands with them on. They are extremely comfortable and light-weight. I may have taken them off once this month to shower. Highly recommended for comfort and style.

Bought these 4 months ago and have been amazed with them. i was initially unsure about the gator, but became a big fan very quickly. You don't even notice it when you've got them on. The grip is, as ever, very good. Shoes are lightweight and feet do not over heat. Good on wet grass and rock but also on dry trail.

I bought it few months ago, I so happy that has made up for the concern of sands into the shoes.

I have run in Salomon shoes for 6 years various models mostly s labs versions . They a shoe you grow into the slab SG version 8 is a fast shoe . And you will feel it over muddy ground it's a lot lighter than previous variants and people ate going to mown about the Sock gaitor but this evolution. If you have ever run in mud or thick snow then you understand why they did this and it does work, the lace garage will perplex a lot of people and they are addressing it with some additional padding but I didn't have an issue . But some people will that you can be assured, but not every one can be pleased , slab and Salomon push boundaries that very few trail shoe companies do.
It is hard to keep being innovative and you have to take risks. The design of the new shoe is huge step forward and you really should give the shoe time . I find after about 60k in the soften up and then like slippers . Keep doing what your doing Salomon you cannot please everyone .

I love the new SG8, same snug fit and great feeling of the ground and control as previous SG but the gaiter is a pleasant surprise. No gravel or parts of the forest my socks anymore! And I like the feeling of having that little ankle "support".

This shoe is so fast. I'm looking forward to do all of my faater climbs in the sense 8 sg. It really does feel like an extension if your foot while running trails. The heel width is perfect, I had no issues with the fit although it's allways nice when the inside of the toe box doesn't slope inward for no reason other than to promote bunions, weak arches, ect. That wasn't too much or an issue here, but was noticeable.
A few questions/issues:
I don't understand why the profilm plate doesn't extend to the heel. When descending at full speed in this shoe (an obvious use case if you're looking for fkt's ect. There is no way to just be carefull about what your heel hits. You have to place your forefoot somewhere, and while your forefoot will feel amazing and very nimble, the bottom of the heel is actually quite perilously exposed to sharp rocks. Many mountains have extensive gravel/dirt trails with sharp rock fields/ridges near the peak. Why not make it just a little bit more versatile?
The foam also creased almost immediately, but I am hopefully that this shoe will last for at least 100 miles of quick climbing/descending. The feel and ride are amazing, so I hope that this isn't an issue. I wonder if it's really just an outdated lightweight foam in use here. A little surprising for the price.
Overall a very fun product, I would recommend them to certain people, especially if on sale.
The low drop feels great! I try to bounce between 0 mm and 8 mm drops, but 4 is perfect. Some have noted that it feels like -4 mm at times. I hope that the next iteration promotes actually finishing races in this shoe by extending the plate to the heel.

I've now covered 100+ miles in these and the only thing I can fault is the amount of cushioning underfoot. Don't get me wrong, for anything up to 45k they have been perfect. Snow, steep muddy descents they're miles in front of anything else I've ran in. When it comes to anything longer, and more time on harder surfaces, you can(will) notice the.lack if cushioning. 6yeard on Hokas and I won't go back.
I'm faster, more confident, less injury prone and enjoy the the response from the shoe...

I'm a huge Salomon fan and bought these more out of interest than need. I can't use them all the time as my feet are strong but not conditioned for how thin the soles of these shoes are. I LOVE them for going for a quick rip on soft ground (that's why they're called SG) but I have to go fairly gingerly if I run into rough terrain, which is common where I play. These were built to be fast and light and that they are. I do love using these shoes but they're definitely not my daily driver. I train in the Sense 8 and use the Ultra 3 for longer distances.

I bought thse in the beginning of summer and I keep getting blisters out of them. I had s-lab sneakers for a long time and never had that problem. The only big comfort difference I can think of is that sensi-fit layer inside that normaly makes your feet very comfortable.
The shoe is very light, and the sole is very good as well. The shoe is made out of some kind of mesh which drains very well if you're running in wet areas. I love the shoe and I'm still hoping my problem is just a longer break in process.
I might recommend these as they are overall interesting

-sehr Schmutz resistentes Obermaterial

I have raced in every Sense since 5. They have only gotten better until now. The lack of any ankle collar material to reduce heel slippage caused both heels to rub raw and blister. The poorly placed lace garage evened out the experience by chewing up the top of my foot. The resulting pain caused me to fall from 2nd to 18th by the end of the race. The fit and quality of the Sense series has always been so good that I have sung their praises to anyone that would listen, until now. Design the shoe to fit properly first then worry about how to work in the gaitor.

Agree with Ryan, the lace compartment are very thin on the top and created blisters/wore through the skin on the upper foot/ankle. And it was quite hurtful during the race as the laces were very close to the skin. Seems like a design flaw, the protection behind are too short. Very expensive way to destroy the feet. Have 8 pair of trail-salomon, had never had blisters before. :( Exept from that vary nice shoes for muddy races!
