These are my favorite shoes ever ever (actually the sense 7 was better but still). I lost the right shoe somehow and am in the depths of despair because I can't replace them. Please bring them back!

I have just started running in these, and they have been an immediate favorite. I have had trouble with certain shoes and my knees, but these are perfect for me. Light but plenty of cusion. I also run a lot in rocky and scree-filled terrain, so the fit on the ankle that keeps little rocks and grit out from the shoe is an AMAZING feature.

You know that scene in Fellowship of the Ring where the Lady Galadriel gives each member a mystical gift laced in Elven magic that will aid them in their quest to end evil, once and for all? Had I been the 10th companion of that fateful journey, I surely would have received these.
I'm writing this review in my car after a run, and not even my first run in these. The stoke is still that high. I can't believe how fast I feel when wearing these, and I'm not even good at running. Are there more durable shoes? Sure. Are there shoes with more cush? Absolutely. These simply ooze performance.
They're light
They're sure-footed
The lace pocket trap thing works really well
They look oh so cool

Since the 5 serie I keep buying these shoes and they get better every year. I just did a 65km and 20km back to back at the Ultra trail Harricana and it went extremely well. Some people chose bigger shoes for long distance but for Trail running I want to feel the ground under my feet and also for long distances i want something lighter and I find these two features in these shoes!! I'm sold Salomon. Doing several ultra marathon every years with different teams to raise funds for multiple sclerosis I Trail a lot and to preserve my feet during the trainings I use the ultra series. I recommend these shoes to anyone who want great proprioception , fast shoes with great traction.

I don't wear these shoes. I stare at them. I feel they aren't real. They are so beautiful, so light. I don't want anything to happen to them. I need to buy another pair of the sturdier versions, which I will, but these aren't shoes; they are works of art.

Fit like a glove! True to size and light with great grip! Excellent trail shoe. Sock like fit feels like your running in slippers and keeps small rocks from getting into your shoes.Dry quickly.

At first the shoe seemed to be really wide the ball of the foot but after a few runs it started to fit better. Lacing (with the pocket!) is great and I am able to get quite precise fit. Toe box is quite narrow but luckily isn't too rigid and won't crush the side of my big toe too bad.
Anti debree collar is great - this should be featured in every shoe!
Upper is very breathable and drains fast although the shoe is also surprisingly comfortable when soaking wet.
Midsole is hard and doesn't roll very well at the midfoot. It is clearly designed for fast speed and forefoot striking. At first the midsole didn't feel pliable over small roots and rocks but softened a bit over time giving better feel.
Outsole is grippy enough for smooth trails and dry terrain. Wet rock, roots and mud are a bit too much for this shoe.
Rubber seems to wear quite fast.
I managed to punch a small twick through the plasticky bit of the profeel film showing at the midfoot. Don't expect to get very long life out of these shoes.

Very narrow design. I have kind of wide feet but I'm basically overhanging the soles on both sides in the ball of my foot. That being said they seem to be comfortable but I have to wear a thicker sock so the stitching that holds the insole in place doesn't rub on the edges of my feet.

I have the sense 7. Love that shoe - great grip, light and comfy. Done over 800 miles in them. But the grips are worn down. So I thought I'd buy the Sense 8. When I received them I was intrigued at the shoe entry set up. It's way too tight. You have to shove your foot in and then crush the back of the shoe and slide your finger in and pull the shoe up round your ankle. Then the back of the shoe digs into your heel. I experimented and now don't tighten the lace at all. I just tuck it into the pocket. The shoe has stretched a bit now 114 miles and they will probably be OK. But the 7 was a great show that didn't need improving. The lacing system on the 7 was perfect.

Big fan of the S-Lab Sense Series for many years. Always very light, agile, and great racing shoes. These are no exception, but the knit/sock uppers of this year's model doesn't work for me. With no tongue protection, the sewn seams for the eyelets rub the top of my feet raw, no matter the socks or how loose the laces. Have never had this happen with any other footwear, ever. I'd never given any thought as to how important the tongue of any shoe is for me, until now. Gonna wear my 7 series til they rot off my feet.

Finally a lightweight shoe. Very comfortable, and a very low profile. The low to the ground feeling is great on technical trails. It is a socklike upper, but unfortunately has a rough material around the top that chafes, and the rubber tab to get them on is higher than a lot of socks and rubs horribly. I immediately got blisters on both heals after wearing them for 20 minutes on a dry day. The other problem is the tread is relatively close together and not great in mud or off cambers. They are great on simple trails, but add any mud and they do not grip anywhere as well as a speedcross. All in all, it's nice to have a lightweight responsive shoe, and this is close to being a great show, but some tweaks still need to be made to get them there.

The fit of the body of the shoe and the grip is fine, much as it has been for the predecessors of these shoes, however the big issue is with the new cuff. The cuff is far too tight and cuts into the back of the achilles, even with socks pulled up to stop the rubbing. With my pair, the cuff on the shoe cut through the socks and into the back of my achilles, causing me to bleed. These are the first Salomon S/LAB shoes that I have had a problem with which is incredibly disappointing.

The S/Lab Sense and the S/Lab Ultras were my go-to shoes for years. The Ultras got a remodel that is inferior to the previous years, and when I went to buy the S/Lab Sense 8 to replace my Ultras, the sizing is missing a 4 Men's, which was the smallest size that came in S/Lab for sometime. Any reason why Salomon isn't making a size 4 in these shoes anymore?
