I have bought ultra x for 4 years in a row. But now the soul of the shoes is not as comfortable as the previous generations. I actually looked up and bought the old versions, which are now hard to find

I chose these as a warranty/replacement for my X-Ultras. The X-Ultras had a problem where the Quicklace laces ripped through the lace eyelets closest to the toe. This was clearly a defect, so I thought that choosing a different model would help avoid this. After only 1 month with the XA Pros, the Quicklaces are already starting to eat through the lace eyelets again. I am really disappointed that this issue spans multiple shoe models. I will probably have to warranty these again, and I won't be buying anything with the Quicklace system next time.

Despite loving these shoes...the fit, the sole, the Goretex, etc., they failed in under a year. The bottom lace anchor point failed (the insert vanished), then the lace failed, and as the lace failed - it cut the fabric on the lace anchor. I have 3 pairs of Salomons, so they don't even get worn everyday. The support on the others have failed, so my favorite brand is not holding up at all. The prices go up, and the quality goes down. This makes me sad. Salomon warranteed these shoes, but I ended up with the ugly grape leaf color as the only replacement available at the time.

Pros:
-Excellent quality, materials and construction
-Excellent foot protection
-Excellent sole and tread
-Excellent laces
Con:
For wide shoes, the toe box is still very small/narrow. A shoe can only tested so much walking around the house. Eventually they have to be put their paces outside. After putting about 8 miles on them, I had a fair amount of foot pain, squeezed toes and bleeding under the nails. No meaningful damage was done, but shoes that injure are no-go.
Again, the shoes are clearly supremely good quality. Bear in mind they are narrow. If you have wide feet, avoid these even in size EE.

Lots of Salomon show reviews indicate new version of shoes wear poorly, are more cheaply made, and don't fit like beloved previous version. That's how I feel about this shoe. One pair delaminated sole from upper a month after warranty expiration. The replacements had one short tongue, another even shorter tongue, and signs of sole and insole wear after 4 months. To be fair, Salomon provided full credit toward another pair for these shoes. The warranty replacements are brand new, but at least they seem to fit properly and have correct length tongues.

If I had realized that it didn't have standard laces I wouldn't have bought it. It's my error for not looking more closely. Now they are useless to me.

I've been buying Salomon shoes for over ten years and unfortunately they keep getting worse. My XA PRO 3D's lace up system keep sliding loose. I've been cycling through these shoes for years and the old ones the laces hold up better than my brand new ones. Salomon shoes fit my feet best but with their current quality I'd recommend looking elsewhere as I am.

Like many comments, with each succeeding pair, the quality deteriorates. Waiting on a replacement for my XA Pro 3D's under warranty. That pair was also replaced under warranty about 12 months ago, and after 6 months of moderate use, they are leaking and falling apart. Please go back to the original design.

I purchased a pair of these back in Sept 2020. Incredibly comfortable, like all my previous Salomons, however these are not nearly as durable (a previous pair of Salomons lasted nigh on 10 years!). The sole has started to come away from the shoe around the inside toe area meaning they are about to be binned. Not good for the price paid. Probably the last pair of Salomons I will buy

Unfortunately, the V8 version of this classic shoe is going in the wrong direction. I've had numerous iterations of the XA Pro 3D GTX for 10+ years, and this new iteration seems to be shrinking and making it harder to get a shoe on. I have a high arch and a wide foot. The XA Pros are usually a little tight in width for the first few wears, then settle in nicely and fit my foot like a glove. I couldn't get these on. Partly because of the width, and partly because of the new tongue design. The stretchy, waterproof top is nice for a better fit, less debris, and less fuss, but then why oh why was that free floating tongue added in? It shifts around endlessly and makes it impossible for me to get the shoe on properly. I guess I'll be waiting a generation or few.

This is the 3rd pair of XA Pro GTX I've had. Absolutely loved the first 2 pairs. Wore them practically every day. Really put them to the test and they delivered! Cane time to replace my last pair as they were well worn and no amount of shoe goo could save them. So I ordered a new pair if XA Pro 3D GTX from REI. While I like the look the shoes are a huge disappointment. Very narrow and stiff. Leave my feet cold and what feels a little damp in this cold weather. Hoping they break in a little more and improve by the summer. Had them a little over a month.

I bought these as a lightweight walking show. Unfortunately they blistered my heels whenever I wore them for 2 hours plus, which I put down to the fastening system not keeping the shoe in place is it works loose over time. I also didn't find the soles particularly grippy. They'll now be confined to being my dog-walking shoes!

Bought for Trail Running and mixed outdoor activity. Look and fit great, but sadly do not last. Outer sole only lasted 12-15 weeks before wearing thin and then through into the inner cushioning. Previous XA Pro Gore-Tex still going strong.

I purchased a pair of the XA Pro 3D v8 Gore-Tex about a year ago, and they have been great, but recently I've had wet feet after walking through wet grass. There are no visible scuffs, holes, cracks, etc where moisture can penetrate the shoes. It just seems like the gore-tex membrane failed. These are probably the 3rd or 4th pair of these shoes that I've owned over the years, but the first to have issues.

Left really disappointed with the new Xa3D-proGTX. Old pair lasted almost a year. This pair purchased 30/4/21 and soles worn out before end of August 2021. Used for dog walking on road and woods. Was really looking forward to having a new pair as the old ones were just fantastic - waterproof, breathable, very comfy. Clearly Salomon have changed the type of construction or material in the sole which is such a shame as in every other aspect, they are a top-noch shoe.

I have loved this shoe for years. The sole in this new version only lasted 6 months before the lugs wore flat and started splitting.. Please fix this issue. Really disapointed I may have find a new brand of shoe..

I do love my Salomons: they feel great, have excellent workmanship, and plenty of traction to spare. But not this time. I purchased this pair in March, and they worked great. The waterproof GORE-TEX bit works like a charm. But after just 3 months of average use they developed a split in the side of the shoe. As one can imagine, they weren't very waterproof anymore. One month later the other shoe split as well. I am very disappointed in the craftsmanship, especially for a shoe this expensive and coming from Salomon no less.

Your feet will definitely be wet in these. Active law enforcement and chose these because I have had a good experience with Salomon footwear in the past. Puddles, rain, low/shallow water, these shoes get soaked. I'd choose another product.

Like others who have commented, I have purchased many versions of this shoe. The most recent pair have worn out in under six months. They cost more and seem flimsy by comparison. Sadly, I am looking at alternatives.

I bought the shoes about one week ago and was happy how well they felt. Third city walk and modest rain this time and the toe box in both shoes is all wet? Not acceptable at all for a brand new gore-tex shoe!!! 200km to the store to try returning them... not happy!

Very hard and uncomfortable shoes. After all day wearing and walking I fell like I'm wearing construction protective shoes. I try to give them a few times wearing chance, hope they gonna get softer and comfortable but now I'm regretting why I didn't return them. Lucky for me I bought also Salomon Cross hike at the same time, now when I wearing them I feel like my feet are in the clouds how soft they are comparing with xa pro. Never had more uncomfortable Salomons and I had at least 15 pairs till now.
